69.4% completition percentage leading the NFL

skillz24

Noob
carr continues to prove that he is an NFL quarterback and has tremendous passing talent. 17-23 for 140 yards and upping his overall completion percentage to 69.4%, which leads the nfl.

look at the o-line we have. not even peyton manning could post numbers like this even without our line...

i saw give carr another year or two to show us what he has and what he is really worth. if we let him go, i guarentee that when he succeeds with a real line every person on this board will proclaim that they loved carr and he got a bum rap and we should have kept him...

Even I could complete some passes when I never attempt one farther than 3 yards in front of me.

Lets see something other than the dink and dunk, and then I'll be impressed.

The way Carr is passing..........I could complete 65% of my passes. Stop clicking on NFL.com and pulling up comp %. He throws 5 yard passes that defenses allow him to have. Its like playing pass and catch with my 5 year old nephew in the backyard. He is a #1 ovrl pick thats being paid 7 mil a year to be a difference maker and win games.....Not to be a QB that is content with a dump off of a 4 yard gain when you need ten..........sorry.

Oh no you opened that can of worms again what were you thinking but yes I agree.

More like he opened the 23rd of a 24 pack - are you whack? You call dumping it off everytime without looking down field a good passing game?

Vince had a lot more yardage on just a few more throws and scoreboard to boot.

Yes - you need to dump Carr and start over - he's done except with taking your money for three more years...

Highest Completion Percentage in NFL
Worst Won-Loss Percentage in history of NFL starting QBs of 3 or more seasons starting

any questions?

This is also a line that has been flown around here like a kite on labor day.

I would love to see Peyton Manning behind this line..........honestly

Yeah! I can almost say that's almost as played out as QUOTE=Carr Bomb;533826 The way Carr is passing..........I could complete 65% of my passes. Stop clicking on NFL.com and pulling up comp %. 69.4% really oh that change my mind right there who cares if he only has one passing touchdown in the last 7 games.:sarcasm: lets re up crr for another 7 years:stirpot:

69.4% is a cheap stat for 1 to 7 yd dump off passes. Carr no longer has the ability, if he ever had it, to be a franchise qb in the NFL. CFL maybe, but not the NFL.

nice argument, but you still didn't offer any argument how I was wrong........maybe the truth hurts..........hmm, I felt the same sting for 4 1/2 years

Ok here's a better rebuttal;Once you have signed your pro contract to the 33rd pro NFL expansion team,in your 5th year you throw for 69% avg in week 14, I will gladly give you your trade papers for the team of your choice. How's that work for ya? I simply commented that the whole "I could pass for 69.4%" is about as played out as "not even Peyton Manning could do that behind this line." I for one am sure that I could not get that completion % behind any line period, but I am not a professional athlete and am not claiming to be one.

Yeah and having the best completion percentage gets you automatic Ws too. Didn't you guys know that!?

First of all we're not the 33rd pro NFL expansion team, because there hasn't been 33 expansion teams.

Second I would gladly throw that high of a comp% especially when opponents are saying stuff like this "He throws 6- or 7-yard passes and completes a lot of them, but nothing to really stretch the defense. Nothing that will really hurt you." Carr entered the game leading the NFL with a 69.1 percent completion rate.

3rd. on the high percentage thing........its again not that hard to complete passes like that when teams allow you too......its called soft yards.....teams give you one thing and take away another.......teams give us that crap.

I know there are 32 current teams, David Carr being drafted to #32 Houston Texans. Soooooo....when you sign your pro contract with #33,see previous post.Second; You did not say you would gladly throw. You said "I could throw for"

3rd Just because he has a good completion % doesn't mean I think he's a great QB. It just so happens that he has beat 31 other starting Qb's in this one respect. Big deal! You think he would'nt want to trade it for say Leading the league in TD passes?

Okay??

umm. There are 32 teams.......not 33 expansion teams....if there were, there would be like 58 NFL teams in this league.

#2.......Gladly throw?........could throw?....... how about this.......I gladly COULD throw for a similar comp %, what the hell is the difference, other than the fact that Carr's stats aren't anything special and a journeyman could put up simular stats.......go figure.

I think the orignal poster bought one of those "official" $250 NFL Equipment David Carr jerseys back in 2002 and doesn't want to have to stow it away in his closet.

Just cut your losses man!

Carr Bomb,

In order to make a comparison to Carr's ********y career, you would have to be the #1 DRAFT pick for the newest frickin NFL expansion team. Considering that there are 32 in existence, a 33rd team would have to be established. In other words you would not be able to play with an established team.

You have sold me man, I hope to hell you are a walk-on FA in the off season. That way you can wow us next year with your freaking amazing completion % that any old Tom, Dick or Harry can pull off.

I was not trying to get personel with you, I just don't agree with a statement that it is so easy anyone can pull it off. How the Hell do you know? Have you actually played Pro Ball? Unless you have stared down a pass rush at the pro level, I don't see that you can make that boast.

I'm done, your right. Everyone but Peyton Manning could post those crappy #'s behind this line. Peyton would pull off 100% See Ya!

Whether anyone could complete 70% of their passes on this board is irrelevant.

When the defense gives you the 5 yard pass because its 3rd and 10, who cares that you completed the pass. Thats why his stats are deceiving. You can't argue with this. Lets stop changing the scope of the argument to the lame assertions.

Mark Brunell broke a completion record and so did carr...neither through a ball over about 15 yards.....lol

When it is 3rd and 8 and you throw the ball 6 yards, you will have a high completion percentage all year long. Look up the teams 3rd down conversion rate...

Amen

I heard on the radio that only three quarterbacks have completed 70% or more of their passes in a year: Kenny Anderson, Steve Young, and Joe Montana.

I post this with no additional comment.

Young and Montana had one thing in common: They both liked Rice :) Rice was'nt a position receiver, so no dinking and dunkin

That is awesome. Once again the Texans get no upside upon the feats of strength of our QB. Where is the value? If he cannot run an NFL playbook let's get someone else some reps. We know what Carr can and cannot do at this time.

69% and the lowest yards per completion in the league as well. When you post stats, put 'em all up.

Is that really what you want? How about this part of all?--ypc--folks lower in descending order--Leftwich, Frye, Plummer, Johnson, the holy one Vick, Harrington, Walter, the holiest one, and Gradkowski.

Not really, but ypc is misleading as well. Carr averaged 8.25 Sunday, and he only threw 3 or 4 balls more than 8 yards.:tease:

p.s. Your list is not yards per completion, it's yards per attempt.

Are you freaking kidding me!? Do a little more research bud and look at how many of those completions are short-yardage passes.
I'm not denying that Carr is much better than last year but don't let the stats deceive you.

but is that on the coach for calling the play, the reciever for not running a deep enough route or the qb for throwing it. who's fault is this. I keep hearing that....he's retarded, if we have 9 yards to go he only throws 7....what an *****. I have supported carr and will continue to support him as long as he is our qb. Am I happy with his performance all the time, no. But I do see improvement in him from last year. He goes as the line goes. People say "he doesn't make plays to win the game". How about the shot he gave the DB from Jacksonville for a 1st down, how about him escaping the rush with the high step and have a 15 yard completion to the TE against the Titans. On the other side, how about the 2 bone head illegal passes. When given time he can be a good qb. I think it is about time for him to leave, not because I don't like him, but because no matter what he does here, people will still call him a loser, bum or any other negative term. You can read this and call me what you want, I don't care. I know this doesn't fit this thread but it doesn't fit any so this is good. Can we just stop with the carr suck stuff for a little while? Anyone with an objective opinion can say what they want, but if just want to stir the pot go somewhere else. So lets stop beating a deadhorse :deadhorse

This is great news. You're 22 so I'm sure you're buying up all the season tickets you can get your hands on to see this man's mastery. That's good because that's the only way you'll see him next year. Still happy when you TV is dark on Sunday. This is a results business. How many TD passes in the last 6 weeks? 1?

Your right but giving up a 40 yard run on 3 and 14 was his fault to, I dont care anymore, whatever happens is going to happen.

Since you like stats, here's some more. Sage Rosenfels also has a 69% completion with a higher ypa and higher TD/INT ratio. And he's able to avoid sacks and doesn't fumble as much as Carr. Since completion % can be misleading as it obviously is in this case I don't know why you keep bringing it up.

Hard too see that the coach is trying too keep Carr alive behind our beat-up line. He got big plans, for Super Dave. I'll be here for next year. Oh, and so will Carr leading the team.:texan:

...aren't you the same guy that said we'd beat the Titans and that Carr would be great this year and last year and the year before,etc.--hope you're better at gamblin' than predictin'

*closes eyes and repeats over and over.... "thread kill"......"thread kill"......"thread kill"......"thread kill"......"thread kill"......"thread kill"......*

You do realize there are more recievers on any given play correct. And usually the underneath wideout will be open, because the defense will allow him to have anything underneath. The problem is, carr always takes it. We have some of the best wideouts in the league, and the coaching is supposed to be so much better. The only common problem I have been seeing is the man taking the snaps.

If Carr had time to do a pump to one side then long pass on the otherside of the field, these next few games would be the time to do it.

If nothing else Carr's playing for a job somewhere . You would think he'd say ... screw it I'm playing my game and I'll show you .

I bet nothing changes and he'll lead to his own demise .

yeah i realize that there is more than one reciever. Houston has alot of single wide out sets that run short crossing routes, hooks and curles. Backs and TEs same thing. Don't get me wrong i'm not defending the poor decisions or poor play of Carr, you just can't put it on him.

all i have to say is.. you can only be as good as the guys in the trenches... they suck u suck.. they good u good
