Who decided no Vince?

Vince begged to play here and was never even considered. Whose decision was that? There is no way they would have let Casserly make that decision when he was getting canned at the end of the year. Was it Kubiak or McNair or Kubiak saying what he thought McNair wanted to hear because of the investment in David? No one has ever accepted responsibility for it.

IMO it was Bob. He didnt wanna admit to the big mistake of DC being the first pick and with the big contract. Kubes just kissed his butt and said nice things about DC just to land the job.:phone:

It wasn't the no-Vince decision as much as it was the keep-David decision.

And that was Casserly and McNair. Neither one wanted to admit they had made a mistake.

yeah it was a mistake, but april is a long way past, and for years and years people will complain about it, but theres no point, mario will make the defense stronger, but we will get a good QB in the next 2-3 years, believe me when i say it, just be patient, its gonna take a lil while

There is no way that Casserly would have been given that responsibility as a lame duck. If he was, then it would be McNair's fault for allowing it. Casserly had already proven his incompetence.

I think that Dan Reeves.. the "consultant" brought in at the end of last season, convinced McNair that there was nothing wrong with Carr that coaching couldn't correct.

I think Dan Reeves was WRONG...there is nothing wrong with Carr that coaching AND and an offensive line... AND a few visits with a Pshrink-- couldn't correct.

McNair and Kubiak made the decision to not choose VY. Kubiak was coming in as a seasoned QB groomer. As such, McNair chose to stay with Carr. Of course, Kubiak agreed with his new boss....joint decision.

It just hasn't quite worked out for the trio. The Texans are loaded with wrong decisions...from Boselli to David Carr.

it was kubiak-mcnair thing, gary though that we could fix carr, but carr is not fixable at this point, if we would have been hired when the texans first started there franchise i could see carr being a good QB, but the fact is for the first 4 years, the coachin staff was a joke, and now its startin to work out, richard smith, is gettin this defense goin, joe has always been a good coach, and now we just need to sign 2 or 3 good o-line men and draft a new QB, sit him for half or the whole 1st season, and then unleash him, thats what i would try to do, but remember we gonna have to over pay alot of players in the offseason to come to houston, so the haters will come out once again when the offseason starts

I think McNair hired Reeves to get the report he wanted so he could put it front of any head coaching candidate so they would have to accept Carr before taking the job.

Who knows what really happen, but that is my hunch. I just don't understand why McNair hired Reeves to evaluate Carr and not leave that up to the candidate he would have selected as the new coach.

I think it was your mom, did you ask her?

From the folklore I've read, it was Kubiak. But I have to believe Kubiak had to tell McNair he could win with Carr in order to get the job. I think McNair is letting personal relationships get in the way of smart football decisions....

You guys are missing the point.

This is Carr's fault, right?

This board blames him for everything else.

Who's to say he didnt tell Kubiak & co. that he could get it done.

What the hell was he thinking tryin to stand up for himself?

I heard a week after the draft that McNair paid 300K to Reeves to do the analysis and told him it was VY and Kubiak got McNair to go with Mario............and they used CC as the fall guy for Bush and VY because the world knew he was out as GM and it would deflect all questions from Kubiak...................problem is it put a bullseye on poor Mario.................and I dont see him ever recovering form it since I think Bush and VY will be future HOF players.

I dont see Bush as a HOF.

He may be a good player for a few years but I dont think he has HOF talent.

He is probably the quickest football player I have ever seen but that speed can only take you so far.

He wont get into the HOF just with his speed. He will have to develop into a real RB.

Bush is very special................with Horn out and Colston's high ankle slowing him greatly he will shine the next 4 weeks. And Bush will be a HOF in my view.............he wont be the rushing machine but he will be Marshall Faulk on steroids..............the guy is looked at having a down yr with 73 receptions as a rookie and close to 400 yds rushing and a ST TD...............kid is a stud.

This is pretty much how I feel. Well, except Kubiak may have been honest thinking he could get Carr to be a productive/successful QB. We have seen glimpses over the years so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that he could get it fixed. Still, I think the decision was made to give him the extension and the smart thing for a coach to do would be to tell the owner you thought Carr was the man.

And in fairness to Carr, he may end up being the kind of quarterback who can win just by not hurting the team, managing a game rather than going out and winning it with big plays. But when you are given an opportunity to draft Michael Jordan, you take Michael Jordan....

Congrats Vince on a good game one of many QB's that have had good games against the Texans

He is in line with Payton,McNabb,JP Losman,Pennington,Brunnell on having a good game,

We need to get more defensive help.

Yes, if Trent Dilfer can win a Super Bowl, then David Carr can win a Super Bowl. Super Bowls are won with superior defense and we have the building blocks with Mario and DeMeco. But taking Vince Young would still have been the right thing to do for every possible reason.

after watching the Rose bowl last year and cheering VY I really thought it would be hard to boo him at this game. You know it really wasn't that hard. Go figure

It's already been 5 years. My patience started to waver earlier this year and went completly away after last weeks debacle. Now throw this weeks in...

I want my investment of money and emotions on this team to payoff. I think I've been patient long enough.

I agree 100%. But to say Kubes doesn't play a part in the decision isn't totally true. You have to remember, Kubes accepted the job and said that he could rebuild DC just like rebuilt Jake Plummer. That had to be a part of the decision making process.
