Espn Misrepresents Philly Reaction

coachdent

Waterboy
ESPN commentators made a huge error in misrepresenting the Philadelphia fans on Monday night.

Jeff Garcia was hit with a huge shot in which he got up a bit groggy. AJ Feely started to warm up on the sidelines and the crowd started to cheer. AJ played in Philly before and the fans love the guy. They love all their backup quarterbacks.

Garcia got up and the fans were heard to be booing. The ESPN clueless ones then expressed their disgust at the horrible Philadelphia fans for booing Garcia getting up and began to reash the Philly ugliness.

Well... for those of you not at Lincoln Financial, the story dramatically different. As Garcia was getting up, the replay was being shown on the humongeous jumbotron screen that virtually fills the entire back portion of the endzone stands. They showed the hit that was extremely violent and very much worthy of a personal foul penalty. Admidst all of the ticky tack BS calls that have been made this year on defenders on quarterbacks, the boos were for the cheap shot and the lack of a penalty being called.

Good job clueless ones! Kudos to the four letter network for destroying Monday Night Football and anything else football in its wake!

ESPN was so much better when they only reported the news.

For the past few years, they've been trying to make the news.

Exactly. There growth as a company is about manufacturing news, events and debate. There is still some good reporting going on, but gets drowned out with all of the paid personalities.

ESPN formula:

1.) Devote most of coverage of select few "worthy" teams: Yankees, Red Sox, Lakers, Cowboys, Notre Dame, and USC. Ignore all others.

2.) Devote most coverage to only a few "worthy" players: Peyton Manning, T.O., Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, R. Bush. The most important things is that they make spectacular plays and/or the most outrageous statements. The bigger the jackazz, the greater the coverage.

3.) Flash rather than substance is what matters. Highlights are more important than the games themselves.

4.) Knowledge of the game is not as important as having a big mouth for their announcers. This network wants their so-called "experts" to be as obnoxious as their favorite super stars. For that reason, you have guys like Mike Irvin, Stephen S. Smith, and Skip Bayless screaming at each other. The louder the better. When you don't know anything, just yell louder than the other guy.

Conclusion: ESPN = pure CRAP.

I saw that i knew they weren't booing him, only because of that cheap hit on him...I couldn't believe they were saying the fans were booing him because he got up...I wanted to call them myself and say what the Hell are you ppl talking about...It made me soo angry...

ESPN sucks and I believe what coachdent is saying. However, Eagle fan has earned that reputation so believing what those guys were saying wasn't so far fetched. Eagles fans are "brutal" as Howard Eskin would put it. In the right situation they would do what they were being accused of. I know, I lived there and have been to many Eagles games.

I do not care for Eagles fans. However, you don't make stuff up and perpetuate falsehoods by fanning the flame. It was ridiculously unfair. It was also ridiculously stupid because he was playing well at the time he was hurt!

I agree with that. However I wonder if they were making that up on purpose or if they actually thought that was what was going on.

I hate how Tony Kornhole tries to be Howard Cosell with his journalistic rants before each game and during.

ESPN....sucks.

I think MNF has gone downhill this season on ESPN...it's been in steady decline for awhile...but it just seems bush league now...especially with Kornholio blowing it out.

Pretty lame of ESPN to pull this stunt, though. They perpetuate stereotypes at every turn, which is why the Texans will never get a fair shake until we win multiple championships.

I would rather have 2 Kornheisers in the booth with Tirico than 1 Theisman.

At least the music is still awesome.

Wait, which music are you referring to?

The "Dah, dah, dah, daaaah" classic?

Or that Hank Williams, Jr. garbage that was played out 10 years ago?

I think I'm just too big of a fan of K.I.S.S. This over-production of a football game is such a pet peeve of mine.

The intro music that goes with that dumb video.

I guess it would be the "dah, dah, dah, daaaah" classic.

You mean the GMC show? The amount of sponsorship is laughable.

From when they come on air until kickoff one night I saw:

A GMC football (Springstein) commercial
MNF intro, which includes, YOU GUESSED IT, GMC trucks
"sponsored by GMC," including a commercial

more MNF chatter, cut to, YOU GUESSED IT, commercials, including a GMC commercial.

Including the intro, there were 4 commercials before kickoff for GMC.

The Eagle fans WERE booing BECAUSE Garcia got up....Not because of a late hit.....Well......Some........Not all.......

From the Eagles board:

first of, you have no clue what being a real fan is. this team is fiercely loyal to the eagels and we support the team good or bad. the stadium is fiulled every single sunday. In Jax, if the Jagoffs aren't good, all the rednecks just watch Georgia football or nascar, so you have zero credibility right there. Don't worry about who we boo. people love feely and they wanted him in there. I don't agree with that, but that was their thing. I didn't boo. a lot of people didn't boo. stop assuming every single eagles fan thinks with the same mind.

PTI even tonight reported they WERE Booing him and NOT the replay:tearup:

They didn't just report it, they showed a clip of fans in the stands acting like they were boohooing and wiping their eyes like babies. They were clearly mocking Garcia. Now sure there were probably fans calling for a late hit as well but there definitely were fans mocking Garcia.

i'm sure plenty of fans were not booing him, but of COURSE there were plenty that were. philly fans are classless, period. although i kinda like it.

no they were shouting 'Boooooooooo..urns':homer:

Looking at the so-called Brain trust for ESPN when it comes to the NFL, anhy causual NFL fan would know how much of a joke ESPN is....

Sean Salsbury, Hodge, Irvin....give me a break....

espn sucks, that's a given. philly has the worst sports fans in the country. i would really the texans fans not have a single person attend games than to turn into degenerate eagles fans. many were booing garcia for getting up and one of the most disgraceful images is one of fans making a crying gesture at garcia.
