man im lookin through all the threads and i see carr sucks he holds onto the ball too much....or man carr sucks he gets rid of the ball to a check down receiver too quick and doesnt give them time to get open.....wtf all the haters should shut up.....he gets rid of it u hate him he gets sacked for holdin on to it u hate him. god its so irritating. let him play ball. kubs will not cut him so get used to seein him. he is here at least for now. we need help on the o line and everyone knew that before the season. we had no depth. there are a lot of injuries on the o line and we knew it would hurt a lot.....so just relax and enjoy each win and be thankful. hopefully we can stop vy....we need meco "the engineer" to qb spy him all day long.

I get the gist of and agree with most of your post, but some of it is hard to understand. Perhaps you should take your time, iron out the grammatical errors and make sure it sounds coherent to you.

Anyone can make a spelling or grammatical error here and there, but this bad boy looks like you were half asleep at the keyboard.
 
I'm actually happy when he gets rid of the ball, even if he's just throwing it away. An incomplete pass out of bounds is better than getting nailed from behind and fumbling...Twice...one that went for an easy TD. I used to be one of his biggest defenders. Not anymore. You don't honestly believe that we can win with him, do you?
 
This morning's 790 sports shows gave me pause. One of the guys(I do not know their names yet) said Carr was in closed door meeting with Kubes Monday. I am not writing this to inflame, but does anyone have a source that can find out what it was about? I still support Carr, but he does need to improve against Titans.
 
I think I'm gonna just start rooting for David to fumble the ball and NEVER lose his job. MUWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA! :rolleyes:
 
i think that we should get an o line that as a fan we would want to stand in the pocket and try to throw the ball. I do not know how we can say get rid of him when everyone on here at one point knew the o line wasnt good. i saw another poster say something similar to this.....when we had our actual starters in the beginning of the year look at how GREAT carr was. I dont think we should just give him the boot. we need more thing than a qb. just my :twocents:

If that is a "closed door" meeting, the only two people that heard that conversation are Carr and Kubes.
 
straight from the chron.................Because Sage Rosenfels is out for the season with a broken thumb and the only reserves are Bradlee Van Pelt and Quinton Porter, the Texans will sink or swim with Carr.

"David's not going to leave the game," Kubiak said. "When he goes through streaks like that, he's got to find a way to play through them and make us better.

"Being a (former) quarterback, I know it's tough to sit there and stare at the scoreboard for a half and know that you have negative yards passing. You're struggling, your team's still got a chance to win, and you still have to engineer your offense."

Like his teammates, Carr is on notice over the last four games, which include a visit to New England before the Texans host Indianapolis and Cleveland.

"These last four are big for David," Kubiak said. "They're important to everybody's future and the direction we're headed.

"I understand why this game's being built up from the standpoint of Vince coming home and us choosing as an organization to go in the direction we wanted to go. The bottom line is that when we kick off, it's a division opponent and another opportunity for us to get better. And our quarterback's got to get better for our franchise to continue to grow."

No one is saying our OLine is the shiznit..... we all want to replace at least two players that started on our line this past Sunday.

But all this talk about 3 step drops, and people were in his face, isn't exactly true. The first & third sacks, were on 5 or 7 step drops... both times he pulled the ball down, instead of letting it fly(he could have thrown it out of bounds for all I care)..... ON the third, he tried to take off, and split two DLmen no more than 4 feet apart from each other... The second sack was a three step drop.... he saw the blitz, he knew it was coming, but instead of throwing the ball 5 feet over the head of Andre into the stands, he pulled it back down, got sacked, and fumbled the ball.

& there were several plays, where he had a nice, big, clean pocket.
 
I liked the clean pocket that received the number one spot on "Jacked Up" last night.... So clean that the QB didn't even have a chance to set his back foot...

It's an internet forum for Texans fans to voice their opinions, regardless if they are Carr-haters, -homers, or -neutral. If you don't like someone's take, then don't read it. Matter-of-fact, if you're one to get emotional about it, I'd suggest avoiding the David Carr threads altogether.

-5 yard passing game deserves all the criticism it gets.

I think we should just make a new rule called the DC exception and allow David more time to gather his thoughts in the pocket. Maybe have the D-Linemen count 1 mississippi, 2 misssissippi, 3 mississippi before rushing.

I agree with this...And some people don't know what they are looking at or for....

Every passing play does not call for a pocket to be formed


If it is a three step drop, there will be no pocket....Think more a long the lines of a wall...a speed bump almost....If David is getting sacked on three step drops, it is almost always his fault unless, someone just shoots in untouched....

5-7 step drops allow the lineman to form a pocket....
 
Didn't mean to mean or come off on the wrong foot. and i just woke up when i was typing all that stuff. anyway, i like the way carr throws the ball and he is very mobile. i think that he will be better when the line is better and he doesnt get hit as much.in my opinion i think he losses confidence as each game goes on and each time he gets hit. after the first sack and fumble *** seemd to be over there. but thankfully our d was here to play as well as st and our run game.......ps sry if i offened anyone

LOL.... I know plenty of haters, errrrr critics of Carr, but this is the first time I have ever seen 'coward' next to his name... Even the staunchest of 'critics' have never question the guys ability to get right back up after being pummeled...

Yeah, Carr is not a wuss. He has taken his fair share of hits and is pretty tough to be honest. However, I think the poster was referring to him being a 'coward' in that Carr does not attempt to throw downfield in fear (thus coward used) of incompletion or worse. I am far from a Carr supporter but toughness isn't one of the many weaknesses in Carrs game.
 
Heard some interesting stuff on the morning show on 610 though...a caller called in and was talking about how the team and Carr were improving til the Cleveland game of 2004 and then everything went downhill after that. In 2004 Carr passed for over 3500 yards with a 7.5 yard per attempt average which apparently is pretty good. Nobody seems to know for sure what happened but since that point its been crap. He hasn't been crap the whole time he's been here but thats what it feels like. He used to be exciting such as leading us to victory against the Falcons even though he couldn't lift his arm, jumping over the pile against Jacksonville on the final play of the game to win it, and coming back from 21 down to tie the Vikings and force OT and of course the first game against the Cowboys when he threw a great deep ball and had one of them dropped. To me, he was more of a gunslinger then because if you remember when last year started, all the talk about how they were going to make the offense 3 and 5 step drops and get rid of the ball...no more 7 step drops so that he wouldn't get sacked. All this little dump off stuff has been beaten into him.
Also if Carr is needs to go down the field more, how come the routes AJ and Moulds are running are all 3-7 yard routes? And if the reason is because Kubiak doesn't think Carr can throw those routes, now is the time to find out for sure...what else do we have to lose? Another football game? Heck, let him call his own plays again to make sure he's comfortable with it or he can hang himself some more! Let him open it up!
For the most part the protection this year for Carr hasn't been real bad...last couple of years we saw how bad the protection could be...It's been bad at times but Carr has had plenty of time to throw it and it seems to be dumpoffs or 7 yard curls. Can we see a 15 yard out or 20 yard square-in or heaven forbid a double post? (I've said this before) Or design a play to throw behind the receiver when he is just streaking down the sideline!

a 7.5 avg for the season isn't pretty good, it's pretty fair, avg, and acceptable for a 3rd year player.

But a lot of people believe Carr's decline actually began sometime mid-season 2004, not at the end.

That's the guy I'd like to get back..... I remember thinking of him as a gunslinger.... airing the ball out much more consistently than he has recently.

When I'm at the game, I can see that the routes aren't 3-7 yard routes, especially not our first three games. David chooses to throw the 3-7 yard routes. But if you remember at the beginning of the year, Kubiak said he has to figure out how to get David to get the ball to our WRs more often, and earlier in the game. I believe putting in more plays with shorter routes was part of that.

I don't think we should have to design a play like that. For one, you'd have to let the CB in on the design, so that he stays on top of our WR........ instead, David should know by now, if the CB is on top, underthrow it. If the CB is trailing, lead the reciever..... it's not that hard to figure out.
