Why is Kubiak punishing himself.....

Practice Squad
I thought Kubiak was going to punch Carr on the sideline, he was so mad. Carr was making excuses like crazy too. Why does he do it, It is like having a girlfriend who cheats every weekend. He lets Carr do this every week. The guy is going to have a heart attack if he doesn't make a change

cuz Carr is the best QB we have so Kubiak has to deal with it.

LOL !!!

2006 - the year of the evaluation. Kubiak might as well stay with who brought him this far to make sure he's making the correct decisions this offseason.

Kubiak should be pissed off at himself. He's the one who told McNair we could win with Carr. And to think Vince Young begged the Texans to take him.

I saw Vince Young on the Tonight Show a few nights after the Rose Bowl. Vince followed Will Ferrell who sat on the couch to his right during Jay Leno's interview. Vince mentioned he'd like to be drafted by Houston. Ferrell said: "Houston's got a quarterback." The audience laughed. Vince laughed. But you could tell Vince was thinking: "Not really."

david carr doesnt know how to check off, and call audibles, and kubiak knows it and kubiak is done with carr, he wont be the starter next season

i think kubes was pissed when carr audibled to a reverse that almost got put us out of fg range. stupid audible by carr.

i think that play right there shows carr's biggest flaw. he might of been coached that the correct audible against that defense is a reverse but carr doesnt have the sense to know that he should avoid losing yardage under any circumstance in a situation like that. you need to be able to know the flow of the game and know what the team needs. carr doesnt have that and probably never will.

we still gonna win with him once we fix the o-line though.

Ok.....Stop IT!!!

Carr did NOT audible into a reverse! Quarterbacks don't audible reverses! Coordinators and playcallers CALL reverses. That is number one.

Secondly, if Carr is suppossed to audible out of that insanely STUPID call on 3rd and 3, what pretell is is suppossed to audible to?
-He's got ONE wide receiver on the field.
-He's got about six seconds left on the playclock.
-He's been sacked four out of the last seven times he threw the ball

What the hell does he audible to?
WHEN have we audibled ANYTHING this year???? NEVER :joker:

I'll tell you what... you want Tom Coughlin in here to show up players and yell at them? Enjoy it and make jokes, but it isn;t how you lead football teams. You rip him a new one on the practice field and in the film room. That was bush league for a frustrated coach...who I like overall, by the way.

why was he mad at him then? for the way he handed the ball off. it wasnt a freakin double reverse or a flea flicker. it was a simple end around. no reason that couldnt of been his audible for that formation. maybe you should..... Stop IT.

Cutting or benching David Carr and starting Van Pelt or Porter is really the way we should go now. :sarcasm: If we still had Rosenfels, then I could see the point of this thread. But Kubes is not going to take out Carr when we are still in the game to put in Van Pelt or Porter. Maybe if we're getting slaughtered, but I mean jeez, Kubes isn't stupid enough to take out Carr when there's nobody half as good as him on the bench.

If somehow we have a QB change, I'm sure Kubiak will then have his heart attack that you were talking about. We have nobody behind Carr, and Carr is our only choice.

That, in itself, is PATHETIC. This pile of crap needs to be cut. He is such a loser.

Unbelievable. So you know what play was called. Blame it all on Carr. I hate to tell you but inthe clutch, I promise you he is not out there calling his own plays. Please. Try to get a grip on reality. He has no line. They are all on IR.

No, Kubiak has stated he doesn't want any QB audiblizing. That is his philosophy just like Shan. We have seen Carr calling plays in two different qtrs in 4 years. He was very successful at it when he did it. But it will not happen under Kubiak, because he does not believe in giving his QB's any leave way in that department. Its Kubiaks, and Kubiak alone who calls the plays.

When Carr called the plays the team and he came together. They gave input and he utilized it to his best advantage. I am from the old school who wants the QB to call his own plays. He then knows what he is trying to set up. Right, now all they seem to want is a robot. Sorry, but in management to be held responsible you must have authority. The play calling on this team just plain SUCKS.......................

Many have commented we don't really have a 2 minute offense. The reason for that is Kubiak is the only play caller. I think you will find that Montana was the play caller in the final 2 minutes of those great 49er era games. They were scared to death of him because the play book kind of went out the window. He and his players reacted to what they could get based on what the defense was doing. The rest of course is history.

Kubiak backed himself into this corner, so he's going to have to live with his decision. It was fairly arrogant of him to think that he could change David Carr.

Maybe I'm being too harsh - it's possible that any head coach that McNair hired would have had to hitch his wagon to Carr.

alright you guys got me. maybe it wasnt an audible. i know he doesnt audible often. apparantly not ever. i was going by what the announcer said. but im still confused as to what kubes was getting on to carr about after 3 striaght run plays.

I noted this in coachdent's thread, but maybe seems more applicable here.

One quick thing mentioned this morning on Carr's segment - the 3rd and 3 play (I think) where they did a reverse to AJ instead of continuing to push Dayne up the field - where they showed Kubiak ripping Carr on the sidelines. Carr mentioned that was the play called and Kubiak was pissed that Carr didn't check out of that play. It wasn't till after Kubiak saw the pictures of defense setup and realized Carr was correct in keeping the play as is (even though it didn't work) and apologized to Carr.

Take that for what it's worth.

A lot of times Carr goes to the line with a package of plays....Based on how the defense is lined up he can choose which of the plays he wants to run....
