Oh Great, we get to see Dayne again.

Samkonfan

Practice Squad
Sources have told me that Gado will be inactive this week and Dayne will be Lundy's backup. This just proves to me that they have no clue in that organization. I am officially done with the Texans. My prayer now is that Gado gets released and picked up by an organization that has a clue

Awesome, then you can leave our board.

I actually thought I heard Kubiak say that he wants to give Chris Taylor a look at RB... Maybe I need to get my hearing checked.... Or, maybe you will see him instead of Dayne.

LOL! You're ok don't worry. Here's a quote from Kubiak

(on whether RBs Wali Lundy and Samkon Gado might be on their last chance) “I don’t look at it that way. I’m going to continue to look at those guys. Whether (RB) Chris (Taylor) is this week or next week, I don’t know. Next week we’ll make that decision, but I want to continue to evaluate all of those guys.”

come on guys relax, i see alot of negativity around here, just chill and go through the tough times

A lot of people around here seem to think that Gary Kubiak is ruining our once glorious football heritage.

The Dom Capers era....:trophy:

Does anyone else find his making a decison on Taylor for this week next week confusing?

lol! Yes, I just thought it was misprinted. I gather he won't have a chance of playing until next week. The way the personnel has been changing so much, it's anyones guess.

Whether (RB) Chris (Taylor) is this week or next week, I don’t know. Next week we’ll make that decision

You mean the "next week he'll make the decision to play him this week or next week" statement?

No. Sounds about right to me.

yeah...that one. You made it clearer (but to be sure, I will tune in next week to be sure that Taylor gets his opportunity this week or next week based on what Kubiak said this week)

I don't get why we keep looking at backs that we already looked at, they all seem to be as good as the O-line lets them be. even the better running backs in the league would get very few yards behind our O-Line. forget about the backs, bring in more linemen...

Have you broken down any film to support this thesis, or are you just repeating what seems to be popular belief ??

Question: Of our original starting O-lineman, how many do you think could go to other teams and start?

I'd say Spencer and Pitts definitely...and Flannagan, McKinney, Wiegert, and Weary would have the possibility....

Now out of Gado, Dayne, and Lundy....Which one of those three do you think goes to another team....and starts....

None....

They'd all be second stringers no matter where else they went....And they'd struggle to be third string on a lot of teams....

I don't mind the deactivation of Gado.

I do however mind activating Dayne and not Taylor.

We are 3-8. We have 0 shot at the playoffs. Let's get ready for next year and evaluate what we have now. Chris Taylor has shown he atleast deserves a chance and Dayne has proven to us that he's good for nothing. Let's see what Taylor has. :brickwall

Jameel Cook might be the one who's inactive (knee). Dayne can play the FB position.

Yesssss! That puts him that much closer to injuring another O-lineman.

I hope Kubiak has a one on one talk with RD and tells him to fall on the silver and black players.:crutch:

I'd rather have a win and injure an OL than lose the game over a fumble...twice!

I'd like to try someone other than Cook...the running game has been terrible at times and Dayne can play FB like aj said, so I think we should give it a shot. I like the sound of that.

He is filling a valuable roster spot - you want them to suit him up too?

I just thought he was supposed to be a real bruiser.

I thought he was already suited up for special teams duty. I'd like to see what the guy can do. We already know about Cooke and Dayne, and it isn't much to get excted about. I would like to see Leech come in and be like Lorenzo Neal for LT and be a powerful lead blocker.

Its the system the system anyone can run the ball in this system.Players are nothing, its the system that works. I see it every week its wonderful just ask anyone that is employed by the Texans.

I'm confused!? Can someone clue me in? What's the matter with Dayne? Has he fumbled the ball? Does he run backwards? Why are Waldo and Gado so much better? They had a couple games with a couple long runs to get their YPC a little higher (meaning less then 1 YPC seperates them from Dayne). Or does everyone just hate to hate because he came from Denver?

Basically, Dayne is known. He has been in the NFL 6 or 7 years and has never managed to hold down the job as the clear #1 RB. Rarely do players with that type of experience become something other than what they have been. Gado, Lundy and Taylor while probably not significantly better or guys that can become clear RB#1s, have not shown they can't do it.

I don't see a problem with deactivating Gado if that's really the case. I mean, it's not like our running game has been good this year. If Gado were on pace for 1000 yard season, then I would question the move (if it's true). But he isn't and he has been, for all intensive purposes, a bad player. As has Lundy. As has Dayne. IMO, putting Dayne in for Gado wouldn't do much. I would prefer to see Chris Taylor since we're playing for next season right now anyway, but if the case comes down to Dayne over Gado, I don't see a huge problem with it.

what AT said...plus he broke the leg of our promising LT because he was too fat to move so he just ran into it basically...which imo is the main source of the hate

Pleeeeeeeeeeease, not Dayne the great Leg Smasher again!!!!(It was funnier in my head)

I thought that Gado was showing us some good stuff before last Sunday.

And everyone sucked pretty bad last Sunday. I think Dayne COULD be the FB but why? He's never been one before and we have a backup FB.

As long as he does'nt hurt anyone or fumble on a scoring drive I could care less.Let's give The Great Dayne another chance!!!:crutch:

I don't like having Dayne on the roster, but let's be fair here - why was that leg three yards into the backfield on a running play?

Was it three yards back? He's a rookie so I'd give him a free pass on that if it's the way it went down. I don't remember the actual play that well.

What I do remember is, that was'nt the only time Dayne did that. It seemed like every time he got the ball he would run straight into the pile!!

I mean come on the holes might not be that big but at least try not to stomp on your blockers legs!!

I was excited about Dayne at first and maybe he would have done better with a better O-line but he just does'nt seem to be cuttin it. Maybe he'll change our minds this Sunday....I would'nt mind that at all!!!:texflag:

Gado, Lundy, and Dayne wouldn't start for us if we had DD.

If you put the Denver stuff and even the Spencer injury aside... Ron Dayne is simply not a solid, dependable, NFL back. Look at his stint in Denver. He was a hero last year against Dallas, and was a viable option through the rest of last season. He came into camp with the Broncos with a shot at the starting job. Early on he was actually favored to start over Mike & Taco. Then somehow he fell behind those 2 and Cobb and eventually was cut.

That tells me that he was either too fat, too slow, too lazy, too injurious to teammates (sorry, had to).... or just plain not good enough to cut it.

I think Kubiak brought Dayne in because he was familiar with him. The sooner he steps back and looks at Dayne for what he is, the better for the Texans.

Surely Kubes has seen enough of Dayne. I know I've seen all I want to see of him. Hopefully Kebes will see enough at Oakland and we won't have to see him during the Titans game.

First, I do think he runs backwards sometimes...
Second, less than a yard difference per carry can mean something. There is a big difference between say averaging 4.0 (Gado) 3.9 (Lundy) and 3.0 Dayne.---- See if Gado and Lundy stay at their average for 3 straight rushing plays, its a first down... If Dayne mantains his 3.0 average per rush, its 4th and 1.... Bring on the punt team.

It has nothing to do with Texans fans hating because he's from Denver. We were pretty scared that the ALL-U-CAN-EAT buffets would have to close their businesses. No seriously, let's face it, Dayne was only brought in because it was starting to look like D. Davis was not going to make it back and at the time (which we now assume, will never make it back), the Texans only had Morency and Lundy ( a second year guy and a rookie) trying to learn a new offense. It made sense at the time. He was never meant to be a long term back with the Texans.

As far as anyone knows Dayne was cut because of turf toe he got in the first pre-season game on his second or third play and was out and if i remember correctly wasn't fully ready to go the first week he was at Houston. He wasn't "fat" while here or even close to Bettis size. He didn't injure any teammates but our OL operates much different then the Texans if you know what I mean. Cobbs has made too many costly mistakes with the very limited playing time he has had since Tater has been out with turf toe. I am sure you all know our running game is HORRIBLE this year.

Maybe Kubiak suffers from what our Mastermind Shanahan does here at times. Tunnel vision when it comes to playcalling and adjusting playbook. Or an arrogance to think that one can take any RB in the league and plug them into "our" system and it will be magic and a hall of famer will emerge since I am a genious at offense mentality.

What I know about Dayne since watching him in college is that the guy just doesn't mess up! Judging him by his years at the Giants may have some merit but there is more there then one might know. Especially when it came coaching staff and personal issues with Dayne not related to performance.

Obviously I am a fan of RD. After watching the Texans these past few weeks especially last week I would put Dayne in at Oakland if I was coaching. That is what my magic 8 ball and crystal ball are telling me is that Dayne will be in at Oakland. Running back seems to be coming a tougher position to fill in this league and live up to expectations of every back having a 100+ game is a rare occasion. My thought/hope is that the rest of the OL has improved since Dayne was in last and if everyone does their job Dayne will be successful.

According to the article in today's Houston Chronicle Kubiak said Taylor will be signed off the practice squad by the end of the season.

Looks like my crystal ball is working too and Dayne will probably be on active roster this weekend!
