Coachdent's Shakespearean Speech to all those against Carr

coachdent

Waterboy
Friends, Texans, Bull Pen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Carr, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with David Carr. The noble "Carr Bomb"
Hath told you Carr was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath David answer'd it.
Here, under leave of the "mexican texan" and the rest--
For "Carr Bomb" is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--
Come I to speak during the Texans poor season and Carr's funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
He was drafted #1 in 2002 before great men.
Joey Harrington had oft been thought of as great;
As had Tom Ramsey. Surely both of these were amazing talents.
But "tsip" says he was ambitious;
And "tsip" is an honourable man.
He hath brought many touchdowns to Fresno State in college,
Throwing for over 4,000 yards his senior year and over 40 TDs.
To whose fans did he offer the greatest hope:
Did this in Carr seem to "suck"?
When that the Texan fans have cried, Carr hath wept:
A self-centered, non-leader should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet "Battle Red Bull" says Carr would be a third string QB elsewhere;
And "Battle Red Bull" is an honourable man.
You all did see that in 2002 Carr threw for the second-most yards for
A rookie QB with an expansion team and threw the franchise's first TD.
I have thrice seen him stand upright to complete a pass,
Which he did thrice have to throw to Jamel Cook who fumbled:
Was this Carr sucking?
Yet "Wharton" says he is a "head case like Jeff George and as
Shellshocked as Tim Couch";
And, sure, "Wharton" is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what these and other Bull Pen bloggers blogged,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once in 2002, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to root for him now to succeed?

O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts, :brickwall
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with David Carr,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

In simple California terms- "Bro my head hurts".
No, in true California sense....

Dude.

And like all things "Dude", take it to mean whatever you want because the "dude" defense in an argument is indefensible.

However, if you really want to make your point....
Dude. That's all I'm saying.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a tradgey. With Capers starring as Brutus, Pendry as Cassius and Chris Palmer as Julius Caesar. On second thought, I think Casserly's best role would either have been as a Senator or one of those Voices in the Crowd that chime in and agree or disagree every now and then.

Great post. Even though I'm slightly misquoted here, I'm flattered to be mentioned. Coachdent is a true Renaissance Man.

A little Shakespeare, a haiku or two, and I think this place can find itself.
Are you kidding Vinny? This place has been full of posts that bring to mind classic literature the past few days. Maybe it was more Edgar Allan Poe than Shakespeare, but classic literature nonetheless.

To get back on topic good stuff coachdent. Keep it coming.

Looks like the board members have unrealistic expectations of the team, and I have unrealistic expectations of the board members.

.. and then?
Johnny Mac's blog on his thought for the rest of the season. Pretty good read overall, has quite a bit of rebuttals, including:

...Barring injury, Carr is going to start the last five games, beginning at Oakland on Sunday. Kubiak won't be fired, and McNair won't sell the team.

Deep down, I think even those of you who are Carr's harshest critics will admit that Kubiak deserves to have at least a full season to evaluate him before making a decision in the offseason that will affect this franchise for years.

Now, I know many of you are going, "Hey, moron, they did that last offseason when they kept Carr over Vince!"

After the season, when Kubiak and general manager Rick Smith and their staffs evaluate the players, they'll have to decide if they believe Carr can take them to the Super Bowl with better talent around him. And if they don't think he can, and they believe the Texans should find another starting quarterback - please, no, not Jake Plummer -- will McNair support them?

During the last offseason, Kubiak hadn't been on the job for a season. I think he deserves to make the kind of decision that will eventually earn him a contract extension or get him fired.

Some of you are angry that the Texans signed Bradlee Van Pelt this week. You're angry because he used to play at Denver, and you're worried that Kubiak and Smith are going to be bringing in more castoffs from the Broncos - please, no, not Jake Plummer! Well, they signed Van Pelt because he knows the system, and he was available. Just who did you want them to sign? Quincy Carter? Signing Van Pelt with five games left was a no-brainer....

I don't hate Carr and I'm not against him, I have however after 5 years become somewhat critical of him. Nothing would please me more than see him succeed, if he succeeds the Texans succeed. Its his job to lose, if he's the good quarterback we all hope he is, he won't lose it, if not, he's gone. There's really nothing else to talk about
