Welcome Raider Fans

This is going to be a tough game. Good defenses, the Oakland D will have the edge, and bad offenses, where the edge goes to Houston. I look forward to seeing Michael Huff again.

hey guys, Raider fan here wishing an injuruy free game. Should be a good one, our strong Defense and improvong offense should be enough to win but Texans should never be taken softly.

anyways good luck lets have a good one:shades:

Actually the raiders offensive problem is gone and it was the OC i expect to see a good ofense from the raiders.

Mario should be playing. He's looking better & better each week. He will likely be playing hurt as he's got an injury to his foot he's been playing with the past couple of weeks. It'll be interesting to see how he matches up against Gallery.

nah Gallery's hurt, so the advantage admediately to us:banana: lol

mario--->:fireball: :shoot: <----our LT lol

I watched the NFL replay of the Raider/SD game last night and thier D does look pretty darn good. I might be wrong, but they seem to have played alot of cover 2 and cover 3 D. Is this correct? Basically our Offense will look like it did last week against the jets. Dink and dunking our way down the field.:crying:

Good luck to the Raider fans, and for Gods sake NO MORE INJURIES :phone:

Thanks for stopping by! I know you guys have had it rough too. I agree, no injuries.

The Texans were on the NFL Network after the Raiders game replay. Not the game, but they listed some of our injuries. We have 13 guys on IR and none of our DTs were with the team in training camp.

OUCH Sounds even worse when it's put like that.

It all depends on the opponent. We play a heavy dose of COVER 1 last week aganist SD. We added Huff to the LOS and asked him to provide run support and man up with A. Gates for the entire game. Essentialy, we played a 44 with one deep safety (Stu) over the deep middle.

Cover 2 is in our package but we don't play it as our primary defense. Our Linebackers are very agressive aganist the run and they don't necessary drop back into ZONE. Remember, COVER 2 is pretty much a ZONE DEFENSE and it is depended upon your front four creating pressure from the set.

Yet instill, this year we are playing more zone defense than we have in year's past. Past years we played almost exclusively man defense.

Gallery is questionable this week. Look for Williams to match up with Chad Slaughter if Rob doesn't go.

Thanks for the correction. It was a good defensive gameplan against SD. Other than a big play or two from LT, y'all held them in check.

Considering the Texans have yet to accomplish much against the cover 2, I'd expect to see it this Sunday. In addition to that, I hope I don't see the ressurection of Sapp.:shades:

I was kind of looking forward to Williams facing off with Gallery this week after seeing him go up against D'Brick last week. I think Gallery has all the physical attributes to be a very good LT, but he just isn't very sound in his technique.

Another question since I haven't followed the Raiders very much this season. Is Brooks going to be back in at QB for the Texans game or are they going to put Walter out there?

Sapp has been great all seaon and i think him and burgess will do some big things. Chad slaughter is a better LT then gallery but gallery is a better RT.

Well, If we can't get a good pass rush going, Brooks just might have his best game of the season. Especially if Moss decides to remove his head from his arse.

Yes, Brooks will be the qb come Sunday. With the way our line has played this season, A-WAL doesn't really give Oakland the best shot to win, that is, our line has been shaky at best.

Problem with Gallery (and the line to a degree) is they are under their third/fourth different line coach in the last three years. And, playing a man-man system instead of a zone blocking takes a lot of time. Yet instill, are line has been beaten on a regular basis this season. You are right about Gallery's technique being an issue. Gallery tends to be too soft at times and he needs to put on some weight to avoid being knock on his ass (Joey Porter and Shawn Merriman did this a couple of times.) I think instead of reacting to what and END is doing he needs to engage contact, something that our line did during the 70S. Instead of these backpeddling BS.

The only bright spot I've seen from the line is Kevin Boothe, a ROOKIE RIGHT GUARD who has played pretty good. He is the guy that put Jamal Williams on his rear last sunday--number 67.

Moss is non existant for us Offensively. The guy who could cause problems (assuming he gets enough snaps) is Ronald Curry--89.

Don't worry too much. Our Pass Defense made Mark Brunell look like Joe Montana.

Your defense scares the bejeezus out of me.

I think both sides look at this as a game they should win but it's looking a lot harder now than it did at the beginning of the season. :)

Confession time.

My favorite team other than the Texans is the Raiders. I get double the punishment every year.

Good news about this game for me is, they can't both lose!

One thing I'll say, is that the Raiders stand a chance against any team that cannot run the ball. The only truly competant thing about the Raiders is their pass defense, so it's harder to beat them with no rushing attack at all. That is why the Raiders had no problems beating the Cardinals, because the Cards are the worst rushing team in the league.

They also beat the Steelers. Willie Parker, for whatever reason, has had trouble having big games on the road. This happened in Oakland, and the Raiders won because the Steelers were forced to throw the ball too much, which led to turnovers.

Yes and No. We've been inconsistent in stopping the run. However, as compare to the way our run defense was playing early in the season I believe the run defense is improved. The major problem that I see is we are starting to UNDER TACKLES in Kelly and Sapp together, something that I don't agree with. I prefer KELLY as a Strongside END, not a TACKLE. You have two tackles who are not that stoutful aganist the run, thus, teams from time to time have gouge us with huge cutback runs. Seattle exposed the problem on national TV. I feel a better lineup would be Sapp, Sands as our ends... and both Burgess and Kelly manning up the perimeters-- teams wouldn't be able to cut back if this was the case. Tyler Brayton, as much as I like his passion for the game, he gets abused to eaisly by Tackles on either Counter plays, or OFFTACKLE RUNS; The Cheifs had a field day with him. Yet for the time being, we need to stick with what is working-- rotate Hawthorne and Sands in.

We do defend the run a lot better at home. The only guy who had sucess aganist us at home was LT during opening night. Then again, his stats were inflated based on one huge 57 yarders when our FS failed to make a tackle. We don't allow offensive rushing teams to dictate the tempo at home, we force teams to work for everything. If you run anything on the edges, our linebackers and/or corners will most likely force you for a minimal gain our a loss of yards. Thomas Howards, a rookie from UTEP is a beast from doing this.

If we would ever get consistent play from our RUN DEFENSE, this DEFENSE would be scary.

Hello Raider Fans !!
I haven't read this entire thread and don't know if this "ripple in the sea of tranquillity" has been brought up. Please let me know if it has.

What is going on with the Raiders organization? I saw this article on ESPN a little while ago and would like to get a "local" take on it.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2680571

I have heard some talk that people feel Al Davis is living in the past and needs to get out of the football business, but I don't know. I appears that Art Shell is paranoid, given his reference to "character assassination", does he have reason to really feel that way? Can anyone give me their view?

He is refering to the rat known as Mike Lombardi. Problem that exist is Oakland doesn't have enough football people working for the organzation -- Art reconizes this. Hopefully in the near future we can get a General Manager, someone like a Ron Wolf. However, AL is getting up their in age, he is not in the best of health and he is depending more on people around him to make decesions. Once we rid ourselves of the malcontents in the office and on the field, things will turn around.

So, Art Shell will be there for a while? I hope so, his name is synonymous with the Raiders and it would be good to see him be successful in Oakland. Good Luck on Sunday man. Thanks for the low-down....I hope the game is a good, injury free event for both teams.

Your defense only has to put down 3 OL and drop 8 to stop our running game and put pressure on Carr.

Our only chance is to try and beat you over the top early...I am looking foward to the challenge...However, I won't be suprised if we try and run run run run and then pray for beating a blitz deep.
