Mario - Demeco

Mario looked good today. I think he won more than his share of the battles against D'Brick. He appears to be playing with the type of energy and power the Texans expected when they drafted him. He deserves some props.

Demeco was great again. The Texans need to improve before he goes down the path that constant losing leads a player to.

Maybe these two can pick Dunta's game up too. Then we'd have a top player in each of the defensive units for future building purposes.

yeah im very pleased with how they are playing. mario has 4.5 sacks, but lots of pressures. with time, those pressures will turn to sacks, and demeco will be demeco. i can honestly see our defense being a top 10 defense next season.

guys i like:

mario williams
demeco ryans
anthony weaver
dunta robinson
glenn earl

Demeco was everywhere. With him doing so well in NY today it should solidify what the NY writers have heard about him and should bode well for the ROY.

Mario played well again.

The defense will be the cornerstone of this team for years to come due to these two great young players.

Agreed. We have a great young nucleus on the D. Maybe picking up someone like S Laron Landry and a free-agent CB in the off-season, we will have a Top 10 D.

we *could* have a great defense in a few years if we fix the secondary and get some top free agent signings

the offense will be terrible as long as Carr is at the helm...sorry but it's true.

Babin got there first, but Mario got around D'Brick pretty easily on that play.

Teams arent built through free-agency, they're built through the draft. Three ways to salary cap problem; Free Agency, always picking #1, and over paying for players (see #1).

In my opinion , when Mario realizes just how good he can be .... the league better watch it . On the Pennington play he gave D'Brick one heck a punch and knocked him off balance .

Mario played well as did Demeco. Dunta plays well at times, but I think once the Texans have a steady & reliable safety combination back there Dunta's play will improve dramatically.

quit looking at the positives!!, now's a time to focus on the negatives!!:ok:

true

what is killing the Texans is that lots of our previous 2nd 3rd and 4th round picks over the years aren't making the team, so we are having to overpay in the the FA.. hard to manage the cap when that happens.

How about a lot of our previous #2's, 3's and 4's weren't even around for us to draft with. Traded away.

First, I want to remind everyone that Mario is playing hurt. He would have been even better, if he were 100%

How many players are on offense??

Let's see.... there is
Kyle Kosier
MarcoRivera
MarcColumbo
Whoever their fullback is now.
TerrellOwens
& TerryGlenn

That's six of Dallas 11 offensive starters. 4 of their defensive starters are FA aquisitions.

If you look at it as a one or the other kind of situation, you are going to lose. If you look at it the way Kubiak has with Weaver, Cook, Walther & Putz..... solid young players.... & you're going to win in the long run. Moulds didn't hurt either, hopefully we can keep him happy for the next 2 years at least.

I'd much rather have a linebaker that knows how to cover the under side, so the safeties & Corners can focus on their jobs.

Correct me if I am wrong, but after looking at the stats where it says Mario only got three tackles???

I would have sworn he was in on way more tackles that that.

That surprises me. He certainly disrupted several more plays.

seems like the Jets are good at taking non first round DB's and makin them real good, they must have a good DB coach

Mario and Demeco had real good games today. Only negative about Mario was he was alil jumpy on the line today, other that that he did good. Demeco got ROY wrapped up no doubt. We need linebackers badd, get rid of them all except Demeco.

If we can't do that, how about we get DR to teach them how to hit? If you start slobberknocking guys, they start flinching. Our cover LB's are flinching. Tells me something.

Jet Fan here. Someone needs to add some reality in this thread.

Although Mario has a great future in front of him, and is the real deal......

Mario got owned today by Brickashaw Ferguson. He only had a few qb pressures(which pretty much everyone has). But Mario Williams was held in check the entire game and only had 1 solo tackle and a few assist. Then again Brick held Seymour, Alex brown, Freeney, and Jason Taylor in check most of the time(had some rk mistakes).

The real guy you guys should be excited about is Demeco Ryans. The guy is electric. He reminds me ALOT of Vilma. Ryans looks like hell be in the pro bowl soon enough for you guys.

We have a solid defense to build on no doubt. They've been playing well after being embarrassed the first couple weeks into the season.

But this D isn't good enough to go out and dominate a team either. When our offense isn't getting anything done like it did today, you can tell it's just a matter of time before our defense starts to crack. When we go 3-and-out too many times to count, you can't expect our D to keep playing at a high level. Offense is definitely the side that lost us the game today.

Mario looked great despite his injury obviously hindering him on cuts. DeMeco was IMO the steal of the draft. It's been one of few bright spots thus far watching these guys get better with every game.
