Just curious - how many times...

Has David Carr gotten the ball on his own 24 yard line, 3 minutes to play, down by 7, and driven the team down the field for a score? How many times has he led his team back from a 21 point deficit in the fourth quarter to win by 3 points? What confidence do you have that he would EVER be capable of such a performance? This is about David now - not anyone else around the league - and I am dead serious. Put the ball in his hand with the game on the line, what do you think happens?

Its incredible how fast vince can win a game and then post on this message board under an alias!! The internet is so resourceful lol.

Yeah but there's plenty about Vince on another board. I'm asking about Carr and if you think he'll ever be able to do what Vince did today. Carr's 300+ yards passing remind me of how many times Bagwell hit 3 run homers when we were up (or down) by alot. Vince is a rookie and Carr's in his fifth year.

Who are you asking? The choirboys or Bob McNair?

Seriously i think so... the key is vince had guys around him that realized what was unfolding before them and with a little luck and mass determination they pulled it out. Our guys have that kind of character but it has yet to be unleashed and thats carr included. It is all the more amazing because vince is a rookie, but i think we are working towards building that with the texans.

wll if you must.. Carr has led the Texans to 21 points in a 4th..

against the colts

edit..

ahh the old catch in that quote... overtake the lead.... well defense has to do it's part too.

I like Carr a lot and I wanted him to succeed here. I felt strongly that we needed to find out what we had in David Carr and that passing on Vince Young in this draft was the right thing to do. I still feel that way even though it appears we're finding out that David Carr isn't the answer.

Every year there's going to be some guy who's going to change the game forever. Every year there's a couple of "monster" running backs and a few so-called franchise quarterbacks who go in the first round. Every year the next linebacker who's going to revolutionize the position comes out of college as does the defensive lineman who'll be the next Reggie White. Franchise left tackles always seem to be there for the taking.

Only a handful of them ever work out the way people expected them to. Tennessee is getting it together and Vince Young appears to be the real thing. Congratulations go out to the Titans for being fortunate enough to draft a guy who appears to be living up to his billing.

This thread isn't about David Carr and whether or not he'll be able to do what Vince Young did today regardless of what the first post says. It's about Vince Young fans saying "THERE! IN YOUR FACE DAVID CARR FANS!" and I think we all know that. It's really fine too. Knock yourselves out with that. It's fun to be right.

If I had it to do over again knowing what we know now I might have wanted the Texans to pick differently but I didn't and given the same information I had I would have still thought Vince was too much of a risk. I doubt the success we're seeing with him today would have happened here as soon anyway. We obviously have a few more needs than many of us believed back in those days before the draft.

to play the what if game
not excersized Carr's option and then
could have went with Drew Brees and Mario Williams.

Drew Brees 5 straight game over 300 yards passing.

VY would have gotten eaten up with this banged up OL

i was never opposed to keeping carr but i wanted to let the bonus slide and let him hit free agency were we could of gotten him for pennies on the dollar lets say 1 million a year market value for a qb like him.

Kinda like the difference between hitting a walk-off grand slam to win the game and hitting a grand slam in the 9th when your team is down 10-0. Carr does his best when it doesn't matter - even today -
