What would Carr have to do for you to be pleased with this season?

I've had Carrs back since he got here, and I still do.

But..........................after watching Romo tear it up again today I got to thinkin. If an undrafted QB can throw for 5TDs in one game....whats up with ours?

So for me to be OK with David starting again next year I want to see ......

1) Improvement in his pocket presence.
2) At least 9 more TDs the rest of the way.
3) 3 more wins

Thats all I ask!!!!!

Currently Texans are 3-7 in ten games. He needs to go out and win the last 6 games of the season. If Joey Harrington can go out and win 4 games in a row so why can't Carr go out win the last 6 games. He has to prove to him self as well as to the fans that he can win 5-6-7 games in row.

All games are with 500 or below teams except NE and Indianapolis.
 
I do not like comparing QBs from one team to another, for the simple fact each team is different. For the simple fact each QB is different plus the team they are on is different. I do want improvements in Carr. what those improvements are I am not 100% sure. Harrington sucked before this year worse than Carr has ever done. Not going to put numbers on improvements it is what I see on the field and on the play calling. If the play calling is designed for dump offs that is not the QBs fault. Fumbling and bad passes that result in ints are.

Since the Texans carring three QBs I would not have a problem with a QB drafted this year. where and when he is drafted I am not sure yet. Is it 2nd or 3rd round? No clue.
 
One of the funny things I have noticed since I began reading this board several months ago is that there are basically three groups of people in regards to David Carr. There are: those who are behind him all the way and always will be, those who are on the fence; they neither hate him nor love him, and just want whatever QB anywhere in the universe that can give the Texans what they feel is the best chance to win( in this group, the "best chance to win" ideas are as varied as the stars in space), and those who hate Carr and want him to be replaced by just anybody, no matter how talented or untalented that person may be.
My point here is, that from what I've seen, there is absolutely nothing that Carr could do to effectively change the minds of any people in any of these groups, or sway them from their current positions to either extreme. That being said, While I'm all for a healthy discussion of the meritts of any starting player, and I am certainly in favor of being able to speak our opinions freely, I am just getting tired of beating this dead horse in the ground. I feel that 1)Carr has earned his position, 2) has made vast improvements over the course of this season, and 3) there may be more going on in the outside of public knowledge than any of us is aware of. After this season ends, I believe Kubiak will sit down and evaluate. I am confident that if Carr is not where he expects him to be there will be wholesale changes at that position.
 
Not sure if there is anything he can do to help this team win consistently. We apparently have seen him at his best, I guess, or there would not be people supporting him so vociferously.

There was one play in the game, where Romo had a wide open reciever on an underneath route, but he wanted the big play down the field. It was not a sure thing, it turned into an incomplete pass......

but I like that attitude.

Of course, the gamble has got to be successful more often than not.

No, Harrington did not suck worse than Carr. They were pretty much on the same level.

No play is ever designed for a dump off. The QB can decide to take the deeper route, if they aren't there, he can take the dumpoff.

Now if you see offensive linemen leaving the LOS to block for the reciver, that is a screen, and those are designed that way.

We don't run many screens.
 
If I thought that one position made such a huge difference as most people apparently do, I'd have no interest in football whatsoever. Apparently, we don't need to just trade Carr. Let's just trade the whole team for Manning or Brady (or Vince Young and put him in an orange Superman uniform) and hire a bunch of high school kids to play all the other positions. We'll win the Superbowl every year until he retires and then we can do it again and again, just as long as we have whoever we think is the best QB in the whole jolly wide world. :superman: Hey, maybe we can get one of those X-Men! I think way too many people read comic books these days.

Even if Carr SUCKED, it STILL wouldn't be all his fault that this team is so bad. The position of QB is overhyped, overpaid, over-worshipped, and over-blamed. The person in this category gets all the credit or all the blame by all the fanatics, and I do want to say the full word here. I guess I shouldn't expect too much rational out of a football message board.
 
By the way, my internet connection is getting slow. I must need a new processor. I'll get one of those quad 4 Pentium 5 thingies. Then I'll have like super fast intranet.

The season started with a clear message to David Carr...... put up or else.....

do you think David has done enough to continue into next year as the Starter of the TExans??

See him be consistently successful in clutch situations (i.e. when the game is on the line). I could care less what his stats are if he would just step up and seal the deal when it matters the most.

All good salesman are judged, not on their sales abilities, but rather by their ability to 'seal the deal'.
 
I just want the TEAM to win. We all know it doesn't matter what Carr does. He's gonna get bashed anyway.
 
Lets face it . Carr is toast here. Capers and Company fail to develop him(gave him the starting role without competition). No QB coach until Palmer was hired and in 2004 showed potential. Then the Texans had a brainfart to change offense to something unfamiliar to what Palmer does and well we know the results in 2005. Now along comes Kubiak and the same results. There are no excuses. A win is a win a loses is a lose .The Texans are losing games that were winnable. Kubiak play calling makes you wonder who was calling the plays in Denver. I bet it was Elway when he was there . Now Carr just dont have a chance to succeed here. Kubiak has to open up the offense and throw the ball down the field. Carr tying the record for most consecutive completions was a joke. None for a score. Gime me one of Losman`s BOMBS. By the way where is the BOMB in the Texans playbook? Past Houston`s team always had a bomb in there. Pastorini and Moon and McNair had bomb connections so did Kelly with the Gamblers. Oops I should have not considered Carr in that bunch even though neither had won the big one but they were leaders whom no one question their ability to do so. Kube is failing so far in his quest to make Carr a leader/winner.

Exactly the point. Carr is the Texans CPU, but their 56k is not good enough for todays internet. Upgrading Carr won't fix the problem(s).

Careful, you're injecting unbriddled logic and common sense on to the message board. I'm in the first camp you've described. I feel like this organization has waisted a great prospect. Whatever they decide to do, I'm on board. Just tired of disscussing it. On the Carr bashers, I wish a couple of years with the snake so they will know just how stupid they were. Six games to go, got a rook with a bad wheel and a grey beard protecting his blind side starting, I got a shot.

Carr will never be in jeopardy until the Texans draft someone to supplant him, like Denver did to Plummer by trading up in the last draft to get Cutler. As long as Carr keeps improving and working on the things Kubiak expects of him he will be fine :twocents:
 
Show more passion out there. I'm probably one of a few people that was excited about the penalty he took for excessive celebration against the Giants. Especially the way he got the score. That's what I'm talkin' about!!! Be competitive. AND STOP FUMBLING THE BALL!!!!

I'm confident that some of you would be pleased with the season if Carr blew out his knee like Donovan McNabb did. :shocked

You would really have to hate Carr to wish that. That would depreciate his suppossed value. Unfortunately our team and some fans on this board actually think he is worth what we pay him. I hope they are right in that he will improve, because no other team would trade for that worthless contract which is as valuable as Confederate Currency.
