My Thoughts on Loss to Buffalo

Okay, our Houston Texans football team fell to the Buffalo Bills on a final score of 24-21 earlier today, and our record fell to 3-7 on the year as a result.

Obviously a tough loss to swallow, the way it played out. I will say I liked the way our guys fought and battled today. That seems to be a plus every week. We got down early 14-0 to 2 big passing plays, and we fought back.

I'll talk some about offense first. I thought we moved the ball pretty well most of the game. We struggled in the 4th quarter to do much offensively. We had 2 turnovers, one was the interception Carr threw early and the second prooved to be costly, the fumble by Jameel Cook when we were very close to the endzone before halftime.

Again, we moved the ball well all day with the exception of the 4th quarter, but when you think about, thats when you need to move it the most and we struggled some then. David Carr played pretty well, that was good to see. Andre Johnson and Eric Moulds had solid days also.

In terms of the rushing game, Wali Lundy and Samkon Gado both had another good performance, which is encouraging. Our running game just seems to keep getting better, and thats obviosuly going to be a major plus for the future. We have three good backs with Dayne, Gado and Lundy.

Overall offensively, again, not a bad day at all, we moved the ball effictively most of the time, but we had two turnovers, one prooved to be very costly, and we struggled in the 4th quarter. We just need to work on fixing stalled drives for the future.

Defensively, really not to bad. The start of the game was just awful, 2 80 yards touchdowns on the Bills first two possesions both to the same guy with Lee Evans. Give the Bills credit on that, that is a tremendous feat really.

After that though, we really settled down I thought. We only gave up 3 more points after those two plays until late in the fourth quarter. We stopped the run pretty nicely, it was nice to see that. Anthony Thomas had a good previous two games, so it was nice to see us keep him in tact this game.

We got a turnover, a pic-six off of Losman by Dunta Robinson. That was a big play and our defense stepped up right there.

We forced them into alot of 3 and outs, another plus.

They didn't get the job done when it mattered the most however, late in the 4th quarter on the final drive. We seemed to play back, a prevent-type defense, and they just made the big plays down there with their offense and we didnt with our defense and sometimes thats all it comes down to. Who comes through in crunch time. So, again, the Bills deserve some credit for that.

If you let a team like the Bills hang around like that, they will beat you. They are a good football team, as I said all week. They play teams tight. We had our oppurtunites donw the stretch, and didnt convert on them, and they did, and again, sometimes that all it comes down to.

Real quickly I do want to mention Special Teams. Not much to say about Kris Brown, he didnt attempt any field goals, but Chad Stanley had 3 very nice punts, we nailed them inside the 5 yard line 3 times, that was good to see, but his last 2 punts late in the game, which again, matter the most, could have been better. He seems like he's just getting older and can't do what he did in years past. Still, he had some nice ones today, but still can try and get better.

Guys this one will be tough to swallow, no doubt. Sometimes all it comes down to is who makes the plays down the stretch, and today was a prime example. We went through this alot last year, so it's tough, but we are Texan fans and we can handle it.

We are getting better this year, there's no doubt about it in my mind. We're still making some learning mistakes, which is expected. I always wait a couple or few hours to type this post out because I want to let off some steam first, rather than making a post that blasts the team and coaches like some of us do. I think we just need to relax before posting and show some class.

Again though, we are getting better this year and we will have our tough losses. It's the nature of the NFL. The importanr part is to see how your team responds to it. Espically a young team like we have.

We will have a tough game next Sunday playing the Jets in New York, which is never an easy place to play. It will be importantr for us to bounce back with a solid performance as I have seen us do so many times in the past.

A tough loss today, and alot of us are feeling down, but that's good. It shows we are good fans. It shows we want alot from our team. We just need to be patient, our day will come. The future looks bright.

Le'ts try to let off some steam before posting in the future as well.

Continue to cheer us on fans, great job cheering us on today, espically in Reliant. That place was rockin' at times.

GO TEXANS:texflag:

dude you are always so upbeat.

I just want to say, SHUT UP.

haha j/k im just really pissed off right now. As much as I hate the Texans right now, Ill be right back in my chair cheering them on next week.

I must be into self pain infliction.

NICE POST! The Texans has got to forget this loss & continue to play hard! :snobord:

Never Never Never forget a loss. If you forget it, it is like it never happened.

The Texans should fell ashamed of themselves after today's loss. They should take that shame onto the field with them next week and use it as a catylist to play harder to regain their honor.

Losses should lead to self-examination. Remember them and hold them close because the seeds of victory are sown in defeat.

Remember your defeats and learn from them, do not forget them.

Sounds like what the Bills did this week.

Most of this board thought that we would kill the Bills cuz they just lost a heartbreaker to the Colts.

Not me. I knew this would be a good game. I knew the Bills were gonna come to play today because they lost to the Colts by 1.

Honestly, they must have been thinking that if they can hang with the Colts then they should be able to beat us.

Good point, but this team CAN"T afford to keep remembering their past losses, they have to keep working hard & move forward! This team has a friggin long history of LOSING! This mentallity belongs in the old caper's regime! The lingering affects of losing seem to seep into this team's subconciosness (sp?). :twocents: :snobord:
