I say yes!!

who wouldnt want this game to take place?! The National Championship is to be played for by the 2 BEST teams in the country, and even if USC wins tonight and Michigan runs out the rest of their schedule, they are still the second best team in the country. They go into Columbus and lose by only three. I imagine the tv ratings were high for this game, but imagine if the game is played at the national championship level...arguably the best rivalry in the land. Any real college football fan would want a game like this. I just dont see how you cannot reward Michigan with another opportunity especially after the way they played today. They deserve it....and i hope justice prevails. michigan deserves the shot if they run the rest of the schedule.

I voted no. If USC wins it's last 3 games (Cal, Notre Dame, UCLA) they deserve to go to the National Championship.

I voted no. I'd like to see a re-match but not back-to-back games.

What's sad is that tOSU will have to wait 51 days before they play their next game. The next time the NCAA honchos say they can't have a playoff because it would make the season too long, I'll think about those 51 days between games for tOSU.

That's the game I wanna see. OSU Vs. USC.

Not to be a homebody/fanboy, this is the BEST offense OSU has had in modern history. We've already beat two no. 2's, we'll take care of the third #1 v. #2 matchup in January. We're unstoppable this year.

Troy set the record tonight for the most TD passes by an OSU QB.

To answer the pool, when the seaosn started, I wanted UT, MI, or USC.

I don't feel any of them can beat us now.

I say yes. Its one of the greatest rivalries in college football and nobody has played Ohio State this well all year. It would be interesting to see what'd happen if you gave Michigan another chance. USC hasnt looked impressive, I question Florida still, and both have a difficult game next week.

If/When tOSU wins the Sears, are they going to send half of it to Tennessee so Vince can put it on his mantle?

:)

I vote yes. If USC would have lost to a top team and Oregon St. then they would have gotten my vote. Michigan's one loss is to the #1 team in the nation.

I vote no. I think florida is now the number 2 team and if they win the SEC they should be there. The SEC is much much tougher than the Pac 10.

I've watched enough Michigan, Florida and USC games to know who's the best team of these three.

Florida may play in a better conference, but it's creampuff non-conference schedule is terrible. And the lesser lights in the SEC are no better than the other two conferences.

USC beats Notre Dame, then I think I could live with them as fodder for OSU, but everyone knows damn well that Michigan is a better team.

The rematch won't happen. I think USC wins against Notre Dame and the BCS computers squeek em through.

That said, i voted for Michigan. Unreal game between the best two teams in the country by far. You could realistically say there were as many as 10 first round picks in that game today.

I voted yes. If I was perfectly willing last year to see a tOSU vs UT rematch, I should be willing to see this one. If Texas would of taken care of business this year, I would of been happpy to see it again this year. It should be clear to any college football fan after last nights game, that Texas in their current status could not play with either of these two. Whoever was banging my chops on the other thread, you're out of your mind. I knew after last nights game the "Draft Smith" crowd would come out of the wood work. Get the bug spray.

I voted no. If USC wins it's last 3 games (Cal, Notre Dame, UCLA) they deserve to go to the National Championship.

So USC deserves it because they didnt lose later in the season? Michigan lost by 3 points to the #1 team in the country at Ohio. USC lost to an unranked Oregon St team in Oregon.

Michigan, and USC will only have one loss, and you think USC's loss was a better one? Does that make sense?

When a team loses people have a knee-jerk reaction to drop them 3-5 spots. But really, is Michigan worse than Florida, or USC, or Notre Dame?

I vote yes, that they should have a rematch for the national title game. I want to see that game on a neutral teritory.

I'd like to see it. Since they won't do a playoff, they may as well make the game interesting on the unusual levels that OSU/MI would offer. Immediate rematch, rivalry, etc.

I do think MI is the best one loss team too. The others have more faults and/or a worse loss.

Let me get this straight, Michigan, number 2 in the polls before this game, loses to the number one ranked team, on their home field, by three points and another team, it doesn't matter, you pick them, deserves to play in the BCS championship game because their one loss was more impressive than Michigan's?
Thats BCS BS if you ask me. The point of this whole system is to match the two best teams in the country, not two teams in the top three who haven't played each other. Those who say Michigan had "their shot" just don't get that point. I say lets see a rematch, on a neutral site, and see who really is the best team. This is coming from a Longhorn fan, by the way, so I don't have any Michigan bias.

This is what I voted and think. Florida runs the table they should be in the title game. If Michigan goes and beats Ohio State, how can you say they are the National Champs, they would be 1 and 1. OSU could in turn say they should at least be Co-Champs because they have beaten them as well.

I don't understand how this is even debatable if you believe in the BCS concept, (which I don't) in which you're supposed to matchup the two best teams and the winner is the champion.

If you actually think any other team other than Ohio State is better than Michigan, then your USC, Florida, ND, homer skirt is showing.

Notre Dame shouldn't even be considered, even if they win the rest. Michigan cleaned their clocks earlier in the season. So, if OSU beats Michigan, Michigan beats ND, how does ND deserve to play OSU for the title??

As for USC, does anyone really think that USC is better than Michigan? They got beat by an unranked team already this year, and they are fixin to get blown out by Notre Dame, so that solves that.

And Florida? lol: You ARE kidding me, right?

This isn't a good reason not to have the best two teams in the title game (if MI is the second best). It would prove that the two best teams are pretty even.

I wouldn't send the 3rd team over the 2nd team just to avoid a split.

No, its called a championship game. Winner take all, flawed system that it is.

I voted yes and I'm a USC homer. After watching the OSU-Michigan game I got the distinct impression that I just saw the two best teams in the land.

A rematch would be football heaven, so of course it probably won't happen.

florida would destroy USC.

I love college football...

But this is one National championship that I will have little to no interest in....

I think that Ohio State is a really good team...And I think that Troy Smith is really good...

But they still don't excite me...

Ohio state has proven that they are the best team in college football already...IMO, the National championship will just be a formality....a ceremony...unless they play Michigan again....

I don't think anyone else is worthy...

I think this is why we need a play-off. Ohio state and Michigan have played and Michigan Lost. Who cares how close the loss was. They didn't give USC brownie points after losing to Texas. Texas National Champs. Rivaly Games are suppose to be good. USC/ND last year decided on the last play.(EX.) Who says if Michigan or OSU played a team with the right D. they would have scored all those points? We will almost have a playoff situation this year #1 played #2, #3 will play #5, and #4 will probably play #6. I say after this weekend the picture will be a lot clearer.:yahoo:

It doesnt matter if Michigan lost to Ohio St already. They deserve it more than the other teams.

Their loss was ten times more impressive than any of the other 1-loss teams.

Michigan is the 2nd best team in the country. Ohio St is the first.

They should play.

If Ohio St can only win by 3 with a huge home field advantage who could say that Michigan doesnt have a decent chance on a neutral field?

did you watch the game? michigan had all the chances in the world to win that game. they couldn't take advantage. ohio state is clearly a better team. huge costly turnovers and penalties late and they still win? not bad.

Ohio St was clearly better than Michigan but Michigan is clearly better than everyone else & that is what matters.

#1 & #2 should play in the championship even if #1 is supposed to whip #2 by 30 points (kinda like last year was supposed to go according to ESPN).

Everyone wanted to crown USC & then they got beat by Texas.

Everyone wants to crown Ohio St & when they play Michigan in the championship on a neutral field...

NO NO NO!!!

Michigan had their chance and couldn't get it done. Had the game been earlier in the year, then yes, but not the very next game.

That's coming from an entertainment perspective...You just don't want to SEE that match-up....

It's not really coming from a view of getting the BEST two teams in the game....

Because then you'd be saying that WHEN YOU LOSE is more important the QUALITY OF PLAY...and you aren't saying that are you ?

So all that matters is when you lose?

Not who you lose to?

That doesnt make sense.

only if they win out. Like i've said in the other thread, they had their chance to secure their spot & they lost. I would most like to see an SEC school get in before USC just b/c i'm tired of seeing USC play for the NC but the ball is clearly in their court.

I dont think there is any way they can play with Michigan, and especially not Ohio State. Florida isnt that good either. Leak has not had a truly good game in a while and they have struggled against some average teams. I think that a re-match is the only logical thing, other then acctualy using logic and having a play-off.

Ok lets use your logic, USC may have lost to an Oregon State but they smacked a now #5 ranked Arkansas earlier in the year. If Michigan was just that much better than all the other squads then i guess you've kind of forgotten about how they scraped by Penn State & Ball State. You see how the 6 degrees of seperation thing works?

I am not saying that Arkansas should be the team to go, I'm just saying that Michigan isn't that much better than all the other teams that have legitimate gripes. Hell OSU isn't even that much better than the next 5 underneath.

?

A loss is never Impressive. Michigan playing for the National championship would be like Oklahoma in 2004( didn't even win own conference). National should mean the entire country, not just the North Eastern United States. Seems to me Regional bias always plays into these selections. We need a play-off.(period) Can you imagine Sc vs. Michigan, ND vs Florida or Arkansas settle all this on the field. Ask the coaches about IMPRESSIVE losses. And if they do have this rematch and Ohio state blows them out, then what did we settle. Ohio state is better than Michigan......WOW....now that would be impressive.:thumbdown

IMO, I don't really think there is a true 2nd best team. Ohio State is clearly the top team in the country, but the Michigan-OSU game wasn't as close as the score indicated. I had the feeling Ohio State controlled the game from the get go. I think USC, Florida, West Virginia, Arkansas..they all would be able to compete and even beat Michigan. I think they're all pretty even. With that being said, Michigan had it's chance and blew it. If college purists say that the regular season of college football is like a playoff, then Michigan just lost it's chance to play for the national title. I'm against a rematch.

On a related note, it sucks to be Oklahoma right now. Had the refs not blown the call in the Oregon game, they would be right in the mix for the NC.

Non-Conference schedule...

FLORIDA beat....
Southern Miss 34-7
UCF 42-0
Western Carolina 62-0

MICHIGAN beat...
Vanderbilt 27-7
Central Michigan 41-17
Notre Dame 47-21
Ball State 34-26

USC beat...
Arkansas 50-14
Nebraska 28-10
Notre Dame 44-24

That's why deep down i really don't want to see a rematch of the 2. We know that the above bolded is true b/c OSU beat them. period end of story. & now since USC is stomping a mud hole in ND it SHOULD be a wrap for Michigan. Still doesn't change the fact that we do need a playoff though.
