49ers future?

bah007

Hall of Fame
The 49ers failed to negotiate a stadium deal with the city of San Francisco & are planning to meet with Santa Clara officials to discuss a deal for a stadium there.

If that fails, they are open to moving to any city in California that they can negotiate a stadium deal with.

Los Angeles & Anaheim are possibilities.

that would be crazy if they moved, dont really expect a team with so much history to be moved, but it happened to houston so i guess it can happen any time

No big deal. They are going to move to Santa Clara which is only about 30 miles south of San Francisco.

I like the idea. More lanes so there is less traffic and it is closer to me.

Here is a video where the owner, Dr. John York talks about it.....

He pretty much just says he plans on moving to Santa Clara because Candlestick point in San Francisco can't accomodate everything for the new stadium.

BTW, the name will remain, San Francisco 49ers

York assured fans that despite the shift in focus to Santa Clara, the team would not consider changing its name under any circumstances. “Nothing will persuade us to change the name of the San Francisco 49ers, one of the most storied brands in the world of sports.”

Not surprising. Dallas hasn't played a home game in Dallas in over 30 years. NY - NJ same thing. Detroit used to play in Pontiac, etc., etc....

LA 49ers ?
Just kidding, because from what my nephew tells me who lives out there, the
49ers have always been the favored NFL franchise over the Raiders.
He says the Raiders get "no respect" from the local Bay Area media, and the
49ers are their unquestioned darling. And this was even in the days when
the Raiders were winning, which hasn't been that many years ago.
But from what he says, 49ers more valuable franchise in Bay Area than the lowly Raiders ?

Yep, and the Rangers play in Arlington, I hear the A's are moving to a city I've never heard of (assuming its a suburb of Oakland), etc. I think out of the 12 or 13 cities that have all 4 major pro sports, (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) all but 2 (Denver and Chicago) have at least one of those franchises playing in a suburb.

I guess in some cases its better to have the stadiums/arenas in a suburb but I like downtown venues.

I read that even if they move they are still going to keep the name because of the history they have

Thats a shame.

I've been to Candlestick (when it was still named that) and the location of that stadium right on the bay next to the hill is amazing. I also remember almost getting blown over when I would walk on the outside concourse due to the high winds.

I would think that just rebuilding on the same location (similar to Soldier Field where the Bears played at the University of Illinois in Champagne for a season) would mean more to the fans.

On a separate note, no team like the S.F. 49ers would stand a chance in L.A. or Anaheim. There is the NoCal vs. SoCal rivalry... Oakland is more L.A.'s team and S.F. has never had any kind of fan base in L.A.

Water hoarders.

The media started hating on the Raturds ever since they found out how terrible they were on week 1.

More like: "THE LOS ANGELES 49ers of ANAHEIM"....:)

I disagree.

You said you have been there, so I assume you remember how terrible it is to get in and out of the parking lot. In Santa Clara there are more 4 and 6 lane streets so parking/driving should be MUCH easier.

Plus, the 49ers headquarters and training facility are already in Santa Clara.
