NFL Mid-Point Awards

I'm sure every media outlet is about to release their mid-season awards for the NFL. What are yours? Here's mine:

MVP: Peyton Manning - The engine that drives the NFL's best regular season team
Offensive POY: LaDainian Tomlinson - On a pace for 2300 yds of total offense and 28 tds
Defensive POY: Champ Bailey - Why the Broncos are a Super Bowl contender
Offensive ROY: Marques Colston - The 252nd pick in the draft is having a Pro Bowl season. Marques, take some pics of Honolulu for Reggie.
Defensive ROY: DeMeco Ryans - Leads the league in solo tackles.
Coach of the Year: Sean Payton - Directed Saints to a 6-2 at the halfway point. Without much help from the #2 pick in the draft.

Co-MVP: Manning/Brady
Offensive POY: Tomlinson
Defensive POY: Jason Taylor
Offensive ROY: Marques Colston
Defensive ROY: Mark Anderson
Coach of the Year: Sean Payton

MVP: LT - He's having one hell of a year. He's running through teams like a man among boys. I know Peyton is probably the favorite here but I guess I've got a fondness for hall of fame quality RBs having a monster season.

Offensive POY: Peyton Manning - He makes that team work.

Defensive POY: Julius Peppers - He's got 8 sacks already, and he's a force on every down.

Offensive ROY: Marques Colston - Logic tells you a 7th round pick shouldn't have this much of an impact week in and week out, but he does. He's definately got a shot of being at the Pro Bowl. Perhaps even a starter. Would love to see TO lose his spot in Hawaii to this guy.

Defensive ROY: DeMeco Ryans - He's been far & away the best rookie for the Texans this season, and he's a tackling machine.

Coach of the Year: Eric Mangini - I'm amazed at what he's done with the Jets. Payton is deserving as well, and I picked Mangini just to be different.

A situational pass rusher shouldn't win against starters like Sims and Ryans.

he's making a giant impact despite not starting. and it's not like he's not talented enough to start. look at that team.

Defensive POY: Julian Peterson - LB from the seahawks has 8 sacks and 54 total tackles. Helping Seahawks stay in the playoff race while their offense is struggling.
Offensive ROY: Marques Colston - The 252nd pick in the draft is having a Pro Bowl season. Marques, take some pics of Honolulu for Reggie.
Defensive ROY: DeMeco Ryans - Leads the league in solo tackles.

Only thing i had to change was the bolded part.

Most of us agree of Colston and DeMeco.

MVP: Peyton Manning 9-0. He is the most perfect player I have seen play a sport since Michael Jordan.

Offensive MVP: Peyton Manning... he is a coach and a player, and he makes every person around him so much better. The Steve Nash of the NFL.

Defensive MVP: Brian Urlacher... 7-1... that leads the best D in the nfl. To be a MVP you have to have a good team. Jason Taylor or Julius Peppers could be but taylor is on a bad team and peppers I think needs to force a few more turnovers and he could jump urlacher.

Offensive ROY: Marques Colston... good story... love how the kid is making a huge impact for the Saints.

Defensive ROY: He has turned a really bad defense the past few weeks into a defense that has shut down two nfl playoff teams, and held another team under a 100 yards. Leading the team in tackles, and making big plays for a team that isn't used to defensive big plays.

Coach of the Year: Sean Payton... look at the situation of last year... and leading one of the hardest divisions the nfl.

Who is it? Ryans or Simms

MVP: Donovan McNabb (I see the MVP as what it is, Most Valuable. This team would suck hard without him)
Offensive POY: Peyton Manning (no question)
Defensive POY: Jason Taylor (Miami would be winless without him. No doubt in my mind about that)
Offensive ROY: Marques Colston (wow... 7th round pick winning this. ESPN didnt see this coming)
Defensive ROY: DeMeco Ryans (no doubt about this one)

MVP- LT. He does it all. He catches, runs, and has even thrown for scores.

OPOY- Peyton Manning. Really close to being the MVP, but LT got the nod. Manning has insane stats and has led his team.

DPOY- Jason Taylor. Pretty much what everyone else has said. Leader of the D, gets sacks, forces turnovers.

OROY- Colston. No argument against him

DROY- Demeco Ryans. 4th in tackles, most solo. Definateky helped our D.

So you think Peyton and Jim Sorgi are interchageable? I think there is little doubt Peyton is the best qb in the league, at least in the regular season, which is what the MVP rewards, and he is certanly the most imporant player on the Colts.

True. But without McNabb, I think the Eagles are winless.

Without Peyton, the Colts definitely arent undefeated. But they are still good.

The MVP has become almost like the Heisman in that there is no definite criteria. The Heisman is supposed to go to the best player in the country, but sometimes it goes to the most valuable or the guy with the best stats.

I am by no stretch an Eagles fan, but I think that McNabb is the most valuable player to his team than anyone else in the league.

you guys are forgetting the halfway comback player of the year.

If it's not Drew Brees, then it's gotta be Deuce McAllister. These guys shredded their shoulder and Knee respectively.

The one positive of Reggie taking some of the carries (even though as a rusher he doesn't deserve them) is that it's helping to bring the Deuce back slowly.

If Deuce goes on to have a +1000 yard season, then he should definitely get consideration, but I don't think Brees should qualify since he only missed part of one game last year. The lines and requirements for this award are kind of blurry, but I would think that a player would need to have missed at least most of the previous season or have come back from a very poor season to qualify. If anything, I think Brees should get more MVP consideration (though I don't see him as the favorite at this point) than for comeback player of the year.

Manning is far and away the most valuable due to the wealth of football smarts he brings on the field each and every down. He is the only player in the NFL that takes advantage of every rule and every little trick in the book on each and every down his team has the ball. I even feel the NFL Rules Committee is going to change some of the rules on substitutions, ,formations, no huddle, etc almost entirely due to his own rampant manipulation of the games existing offensive-friendly rules. I hate the guy but he is so damn good and crafty it can't be denied. He's crafty, he just that type....
