I was thinking. We're all kind of funny. A few weeks ago, we were upset that we were getting "blown out" by the best teams in the league(& Washington), and not looking competitive at all.

We lost last week, after stomping a mudhole in the Titans....... I thought we looked pretty competitive....

This week we lost by 4 a game in which Vegas thought we'd loose by 13. Looked pretty competitive to me.

IMHO, we are right where we are supposed to be after 8 games. We look like a football team. Any given Sunday, IMHO, applies for each of the next 8 weeks. Realistically, I think we can go 4-4...... optomistically, 6-2 for the rest of the season.

How 'bout you........ where do you think we are??

I would like to have a playoff team year after year (and it is going to happen someday) but the team finished 2-14 last year and that is going to temper expectations. Thus, before the year begun I thought 5-11 was a good goal and even that meant more than doubling our win total from last year.

I think the team is right about where I thought they would be.

We look like a football team sometimes, but we still need some consistency. The good thing about 'lacking consistency' however is that this squad hasn't hit their ceiling yet. Add some more pieces to the secondary and a hopefully improved rushing attack by next season and competing for the WC doesn't look out of the question to me at all. The final piece though is if reliable Carr is the real Carr or if we see anymore of last weeks Carr.

Im gonna say a little behind where i hoped but the improvement this team has shown has me salivating about how good we will be in a season or 2 TEXANS4LIFE!!!!!!.

A little behind where I had hoped.... in direct relation to W/L. By now, I was thinking 3 to 4 wins (Titans and possibly Cowboys) from the beginning of the season "picks". Still somewhat on track for my previous prediction of an 8 win season, +/- a game... but it'd have to take you optimistic 6-2 finish out for that to come close.

Other side - WORLDS better than how I felt about the team from last year. It's actually starting to feel like we're competitive vs. playing not to lose. A "tired of the moral victories" instead of a "this game is a must play well". attitude. A defense coming around and getting in the opposing teams face... even after the play (SICK 'em Mario!!!).

Shoot, who here would want Capers / Casserly and their crew over what we've seen to date from the current cast and what they've been able to do (albiet - some baby steps and not quite the microwave turnaround, but I'll take it).

I'm seeing quite a bit "Way behind schedule" votes up there, and i can't help but be apalled. Did you people really think we'd end the season at 9-7? All this time i thought that was just you guys being optimistic, but i guess you were serious the whole time? I think we're doing great, but just a bit behind schedule; but you guys think we just flat out suck? We DO suck, but we're not WAY behind in schedule!

8-8 was the absolute best i was hoping for this season. I am looking for any improvements over last year. I do think that Kubes is doing a decent job this year. You have to remember that he has so many holes from the previous regime of crappy draft picks. I do think if a good R.B. is avail in the 1st round to go ahead & take him... Adrian Peterson's injury history does scare me.. trading the pick for more draft picks would be ok w/ me if we can get more playas that fit Kubes system. It is not looking like we are goin be able to get out of the 1st 10 picks next year.

I expected a better record by this point, but can't say that I surprised. I've always stated that the turnaround will be miraculous by all accounts; but early on, I seen it wouldn't happen till the second half.

I think we crossed a bridge today. The team is functioning as a team. Perhaps the benching of Carr was the pivot point Kubiac was looking for.:hmmm:

We are right where I expected us to be in terms of wins. Playmaking ability and the performance of our rookies has really surpassed my expectations.

While people always say...Oh we will be better next year line...you have to know that there is substance this year to that argument. The learning curve for our rookies is stellar in my opinion and it looks like a bright future for most if not all of them.

While we have been losing at least we are more competitive. The next step is victories and I see them coming this half.

I think were a little behind but im not upset about it because were building a strong team and you can tell!

Man I wish I could give out some rep, but I'm all repped out for today. I'll try to get you tomorrow.

I was playing around with 13-3 at the beggining of the season, because I over estimated the play of several of our older guys. David Carr, Ron Dayne, Vernand Morency, Dunta Robinson, Steve McKinney, Morlon GreenWood, Jason Babin, Travis Johnson, Robaire Smith, Phillip Buchannon. I had hope, that they weren't as bad as 2-14 showed them to be.

But damn.... they are.

Our rookies are the best players on our team, with the notable exception of AJ, & I'd put Glenn Earl up there too.... I like CC, but he's not playing FS, he's a second SS.

It blows my mind, that anyone would think that we should be better than what we are now.

i feel like we should have had one (maybe two) more victories at this point, but then we've already got the same amount of wins as all of last year.
i'm excited for the future:redtowel:

It's interesting you should mention Dunta Robinson. I'm aware he's been playing well for the past couple of years, and at worst he's been exceptional in those years, but it just seems as though he's not doing well at all. He's getting tons of tackles, but when secondary is getting tons of tackles, that's not a good thing. What's up with him? Is he worse than most of us thought?

I voted a little behind because of last weeks lost to the Titans that one I had us winning. We beat the dolphins who at the beginning of the year I did not think we would have beat the Jags was a push because we play them hard every year so I was thinking at lease 3 wins by now.

I think we are a little behind. a little behind in execution by the running game. a little behind on defense because we have lapses that give up big plays too often. a little behind in playcalling because we dont use our weapons to their fullest potential. we dont run enough deep routes and we try the draw play too often when we should be doing play action. I liked the spread offense but I think we didnt throw enough deep routes into that set. and I think we need to at least try to put points on the board whenever we can, especially after a good stop by the defense. if we won the titans game and one other (possibly the giants game, it was winnable) we would be right on track for around an 8 and 8 season. wich is what I thought we would get this year. I know the schedule was tough but their are easily 8 winnable games in our schedule, now I think 6 and 10 is probably gonna be a good finish.

I in no way thought that this was going to be a winning season just because we got a new coach, but I was thinking maybe 2 more wins than we have right now to be about on track. Been dissapointed with some of the play in some games, but then others it's been great.
