Why our message board is the best!

I was just wondering how many of you guys look around the league and visit other teams message boards. I have and I find it astonishing that there are so many people out there who just think we are the worse team in the league. Do fans even look at the injury reports? I look at the Jags site, before our game those fans had their team beating us by 21, some by 28. Do they even take into account their losses on defense and offense? After the game they find excuses why they lost and then they remember the key losses on their D. How about the fact that the Texans had two key people come off the PUP and our team chemistry has only become more effective each week. Look at the reduction in sacks, look at the competition we have had to play, look at personnel improvement involvement in the offense! How many of you guys have notices Cook blocking his butt of last week or Kevin Walters becoming more of a factor in the passing game??? The team is starting to gel but only our fans can see it??? I go over to the Titans site and they have the audacity to claim a blowout win this week????? They sound just like the Redskins fans the week of the Titans/Redskins game! What a bunch of morons! That is what I love about this message board, our fans are upbeat but honest! We believe and have hope but we look at the big picture!!!! I believe this week will be a close game, and Vince is looking good. Our run D is not great and it will be a challenge containing Vince, there is no doubt about it. Look at our game film and it is easily seen that containment has been an issue, plus Mario is going to be exposed with that option play they run and there is nothing we can do about it. It is not Mario’s fault; he is a rookie and a very raw one at that. I hope he proves me wrong but after watching his containment issues this season, I can’t help but be afraid of the problems that might arise. Plus they have a certain top notch receiver that has been on the injury report that is probably coming back this week; I hope people are taking this into account. Henry will have another big game because of the Vince Factor and the only way we can win is to out score those guys. The Titans almost scored on every drive during their last game against a good Redskins D, so for anyone on this site to say we are going to destroy the Titans is ludicrous.. I wish fans would actually look at the big pictures before coming on the message boards and making claims of victory. We can win this game if we can have two back to back TD scoring drives and we force the Titans to move the ball by having to throw it. We will play our prevent defense, and even then it is going to be a battle because Vince is a much better passer then given credit for and he is starting to gel with his guys as Carr is with ours. It will be a tough game!
 
I dunno, it's all a matter of perspective imo. We have had certain fans on here that thought we were going 13-3 prior to the season, and still are delusional enough to think we will go 10-6 or even 11-5. Blind homer fans are not the province of only one area or one team. Every team has certain individuals who wear rose colored glasses. It's not as if Jax or Tenn is unique at all in that respect. I just disagree with your thesis that somehow Texans fans glasses are any less rosy than other teams.

As far as the game, I agree with Mario. He has fallen for misdirection, or taken himself out of the play at time because he is raw, and has trouble diagnosing the play at times. I think overall though, we have at least a 50-50 shot at winning this game.
 
I have been on the Titan's board today and there were some nice folks there, as well as a couple of "wankers". They were giving us credit where it was due. I think the game Sunday is gonna be a good one, no doubt. We are pretty evenly matched (from looking at each team's stat sheet). Vince is going to give us a run-for-our-money, and I am hoping that the same guys that showed up for the Texans at last weeks game will be there again on Sunday. We played GREAT and we need it again this week. :twocents:

One thing I will say is that there will be two really good head coaches there Sunday. In fact, maybe 3, if you count Sherman.
 
Both teams seem to understand this is a big game for each. Not because it's just divisional, but because for both of us, there's hope of winning. Neither team is great, we all see that our team has shown flashes of playing well. Consistant play is what wins championships. Coming off of a win for each club that was much needed, now we're hoping to build on that. One team has to lose.

actually i dont see anything wrong with the original post but i guess i just need to look at it again i dont see any misspellings or anything are you guys sure theres something wrong with it wheres the problem :confused:
 
I agree- this is one of the best message boards out there... They message board for the Steelers is absolutely awful!!! The posters here are wonderful, I have to admit that part of my reason for the Texans being my #2 team is because of the wonderful posters on this board.

there's nothing wrong with your grammer or the post but I have to admit the long paragraphs are pretty hard to read. Just needs to be broken up a bit with a few strokes of the enter key. I can't even read the people that post in all caps....feels like someone is yelling at me.

I totally agree with you. This messageboard is amazing. Probably the best I have been on for any topic not just football.

btw: Vince Young is a rookie. Personally I fear no rookie QB, he will be twice as likely to be the one to blow the game than to win it for them. That is the reality of being a rookie, especially at the QB position, so as or right now that position is a HUGE liability for them, at least until he gets comfortable.

I would say the Texans have to be favored in this game but not by much and I have watched enough Texans games to know they are more than capable of losing to any opponent, and losing big at that.
 
We do have the best message board out there and you know why, because this is Texas and its football country. Not to mention that there are so many long time posters on this board.

On the HoustonTexams.com message board we know football, and we know it well, even when people dissagree its usually just because of a difference of opinion, not because people dont know what they are talking about. And that is how respect is earned.

Every once in a while there is some random person that decides to join the board, thinking that they are football/draft gurus. They usually stop posting after getting thrashed for talking non-sense, and that is how we keep the board free of trolls. We know our football and dumb posts arent taken lightly around here.
 
I wasn't worried about the Titans game until I watched them play the Colts. It will be a good game, but I think we can take 'em.

But overall, yes, we do have some more realistic people on this board, for the most part. I'll take ours over many of the others I've looked over.

IMO, the board is as good as it is because of how it is managed/moderated. Big "UPs" to the staff who work so hard to make it better for all of us and to the keen insights that some of the posters have.

seriously though this board does have good mods- something ive only really appreciated since last sunday when i visited the bucs website (to see how crazy their game thread went after bryant's 62 yd fg)-

anyway couldnt find the thread but they had this mod on a power trip that was banning people for saying harmless words like a s s, or because some1 made a thread about mcnabb throwing up- it was ridiculous

We have a terrific bunch of loyal fanatics with diverse backgrounds/experiences amongst our membership. We are simply a market for trading thoughts and quips, so the more the merrier.

This is the only board I have ever frequented due to the entertainment value and thought provoking posts made here on a daily basis. Imagine how great this place will be once we start winning and we actually have something to talk trash about.
 
Well I'm knew to this board so I'll just introduce myself real quick since this seems like the right thread to do that.

I live in East TX now (Cowboys territory unfortunately) but I was born and raised in Houston and have been an avid fan since day one. I don't live close enough to go to the games very often but when I do it's great time.

It took me forever to get a decent internet connection but now I'm looking forward to talking football.
 
I think Texans' history keeps some of the real *****s off.

You pretty much can't be a Texan fan these days without REALLY being a fan and not just some bandwagoner.

I am a life long Falcons fan and you are suffering the same way we have over the years. I think that you have the ability to have an exciting team for many years to come. I like David Carr alot, and I think he can get it done for you at QB. With a solid running game, and a better pass protection, you would have a very nice offense indeed. The parts are there. What you need is a little time. I think Kubiak will be outstanding for you. Give him a chance and let him build it. I think you will be scaring teams towards the end of the season.

The only "Knock" I have on this board is its not very user friendly. Try the Falcons board, ours is a little different. We also have a heck of alot of folks posting! But this one definitely beats out the Bucs and the Panties. You have alot of smilies to................................:twocents:

We have the BEST smileys, but that goes along with the best fans. I know you have heard that everything is bigger and better in Texas.

The Texans MB has been recognized many times, in private ceremonies, for the way the staff pushes the envelope with the mulitple ways a yellow faced circle can help bring life to text. :)
 
I have not read this thread, so sorry if this is a rehash of someone else's post.

I'll tell you why this is the best MB on the net. The lives that is touched here, on a personal basis, literally can change peoples lives. For that to happen, this would have to be more than just a MB...it would have to be like a family. Even like families, we have our moments of spats and arquments, but they always seem to get worked out.

The personal interaction I've had with people here, has set my feet on paths that I would have never traveled. Those instances, God has used to teach me and grow me into a person that would've never thought possible in the skin and bones that I walk around in day in and day out. God will use situations, circumstances, and people to speak to you and help you grow in areas that He sees we need work in.

Thanks to ALL who God has so graciously used, on this board and other areas of my life, to further my growth and walk with Him.
 
:twocents: First off this is the Best MB around Hands Down. Not just because of the Mod.(they do do a great job of keeping this board free of trash and the truly bad Trolls), and knot just for the ease of use.

The main reason IMO is the posters themselves, we all come here to talk football but info. gets personel at times so most of us know little bits of each others personel lives. Our MB has such a vast aray of posters from Doctors, Attorneys, Students, blue coller, white coller, Ex-Athletes, Current Athletes, Coaches, and Novices. All have a opinion and have the ability to express it here and like it or not we all learn from the experence. Things might get heated at times but most that posters here have the ability to see someone elses point of view and accept it, you might not agree but its accepted and we move on. IMO this is what makes us the best MB on the net, try the Redskins Board if you want talk about hard to figure out and if you do, be perpared to be to be trashed, insulted, and abused.(its stated in the sign-up statement and it is not a lie) Other MB I visit (most I just read and dont sign up for) are just plain nasty, points of views are not tolerated and most of the talk is just trash talk not football talk like on our board. My :twocents:

To all that keep us out-of-towner up-dated on Sunday on the Gameday my thanks again. Sucks to not be able to see or hear the game but reading it is better than nothing or waiting for the ONE high-light on the four letter network.

Ditto. Appreciate the mods' work and the fanbase we have here, but I get a lot more out of the NSZ and the guys and gals that post there.
 
Born and raised in TN. I now live in TX. So I follow both teams. Crazy, I know. Bud Adams is not loved in TN, I can tell you that. But the people love the team. And I've seen both teams not get the respect. Even when the Titans were going to all those playoffs and the Super Bowl.

Most message boards are the same. But this is a great one.
 
No offense intended. I am a big Texan fan however the websites that are devoted to fans and their message boards are lacking. Go visit the boards for the Packers, Vikings, Redskins, Dolphins at al. There are very few boards for the Texans, I do agree that of them this is the best. Problem there aren't any besides this one.

You need to check out houstonprofootball.com and texanstalk.com. Each has a different character as well as being different than this one. I doubt there are too many towns with more than three solid MB's.

Just doesn't flow. You have to LAUNCH your board. We just log in and get to it. We have alot more forums to check out as well. Other than Falcon talk, there are sections set up for tailgating ideas, politics, and forums for fans from other boards. We get piles from Philly and Tampa as well as Green Bay. Their boards are weak at best. We have decent mods. I got banned for a few days for being creative with my curse words. The F Bomb is illegal on our board, but I write fook, or fuche or some such. BUt I like your board, y'all are friendly. Try the Jets board...............must be the frickin snow, or just that they are dayum yankees.........................:bananasplit: peanut butter jelly time.............
