Babin thought?

Wolf

100% Texan
Babin was out due to injury. I know one game doesn't make a season or a career, but a thought crossed my mind that wonders if he will stay a Texan.. I am not hoping he is to go , but I wonder if he really fits into our system being he is a "tweener"

maybe someone can shed some light on this

Before today, I always felt like he was near the ball a lot. It seemed like he was actually the only defender at the line of scrimmage who was sneaking by some people. Other guys would be getting stinewalled on a play, and you'd see Babin popping into the area of the play from out of nowhere.

IMO, Payne being out is the best thing that has happened to our defense. I didn't rejoice in his injury...but this unit looks a lot more athletic and just better without him on the line. No personal vendetta gainst the guy, but I have not been impressed by his presence this season. I have a theory about all of our former Jaguars players and what they have "meant" for our team.

I don't know about Babin or Payne so much, but I do think that we won this game because we got jacked up for the Jaguars in Houston and we wore Battle Red. I think it means something that we are 2-4, instead of 2-14, and I'm really glad for the win, but I wouldn't make TOO MANY long term personnel decisions based on this one game. I'd definitely start Scott, Faggins, and Lundy next week and see how they do.

Babin might not have a place here. He is a 3-4 LB. I dont see him comming back next year.

Same as greewood.

might be right, this thought hit me during the game.. Just seems Babin has just disappeared from this team.. I don't know.. Maybe it is because all I see and hear is Ryans,Ryans,Ryans

if true that would be another high draft pick the Texans traded for .. would make me sick

Babin never really impressed me and I think we waisted a high draft pick taking him. He gets around pretty well on the field but I don't ever recall him having a "big" game. I don't think he fits in now as well as he did in the 3-4 D last year.
I am an Antwan Peek fan. I like the pressure Peek brings and think he is a bigger presence on the field than Babin is. If Babin did not return next year I do not think he will be missed. :twocents:

Babin is as much a "tweener" as DwightFreeney or JevonKearse is. Babin is the only one of our DEs, that got his hands on McNasty. Babin has the power and speed, to be very productive on our team.

He didn't play today, because he was hurt(I know you mentioned it, but some people are still talking like they didn't know).

Against Dallas, he looked like Mario did his first few games, as if Babin was being told look for the run first.... playing on the weakside??

When our defense get's better at recognizing what the offense is trying to do....... or better yet, when we start to dictate (like we did today in the 4th) then Babin & Mario are going to be feared.....

Petey Faggins made a big difference in our defense. Seemed like they were more "pumped up" than before.

Babin cost this team, if my memory is correct, a 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounder just to move up to get the titans 1st round choice. Some of those picks involved flip flopping with tenn, I think. Anyway, he needs to deliver this year and become a disruptive force on the outside, which I hope he can do when fully healthy, if not, he my be released. Getting rid of non-producer P-buch shows that the new boss ain't like the old boss.

In the two games that he's played for us, Maddox seems to have as much energy as Payne, plus he gets a bit of a push in the middle. I saw him come in on one play Yesterday trying to pump the guys up, showing a bit of leadership, which I thought was odd from the young'n(this is his third year I think), and he's only been on the field twice now.

But he looks like he wants to start, sees and opportunity, and isn't afraid of a little hard work.

I think Dalton will be ready this week as well. I think that should help out a little more with stopping the run. We can always use another big bodied tackle. I just hope he steps it up.

eh...... Denver seems to do pretty well without Big bodied Tackles..... Dalton looked pretty good on the one or two plays he was in on.

If my name was TJ, I'd live at Reliant stadium, I'd be hitting the weights, watching film, beating up the practice dummy, running on the threadmill, practice coming off the snap........ heck I'd be working my but off trying to stay on this team.

I'd be doing that whatever my name was.

I saw Kalu playing on the interior line for a lot of the game, which was interesting as I thought he was a DE. Now that could have been more on passing plays, but I like the idea of more athletic interior, especially from a veteran.

Mario in the middle just seems raw in terms of sniffing out draws, etc.
