Dayne

Wolf

100% Texan
due to CBS and their blackouts of the Texan games, I only got to see the 1st game against Philly.

however watching this game against the cowboys..I finally get to see Ron Dayne.

I know our OL is not blocking worth spit, but Dayne looks exceptionally slow to me.(understatement)

Morency didn't look that slow

what's this about blackouts? I'm a little concerned because our ranch is in Mountain Home, right up the road from you and I would hate to get up there thinking I was going to be watching the game in between hunts.. I almost went this weekend. 8o

I got dishnetwork and the local san antonio stations are not playing the Texans

no since the Eagles game

mountain home huh.. Kerrville here :D

THey should set Dayne up maybe a yard or 2 closer to Carr because he or Fat Gado have NO SPEED to get into the hole.

Morency had it, but he could not pick up the blitz. I guess you can coach speed but not blitz recognition (lol)

yeah, i saw that on your Location profile.. I've got Directv without NFL ticket so I'm guessing it is the same. Guess I will have to add the ticket to make sure I don't miss any away games.

There has been no hole.....

What they should do, is activate Dayne, or Gado, & Lundy. If there are no holes, and we have to try to run around the edges, we go with Lundy, if we can get some holes in the middle, like against washington indy, or Philly, then we go with the big guys.

Dane is slow hes a power runner. The guy is like 240
Dayne is slow and is anything BUT a power runner, thats the biggest misconception about this guy. Im all for giving Wali another shot because I cant take seeing Dayne lunge into the back of a pile another time . . .

Has anybody on this thread considered the fact that our offensive line can't open a hole for the backs to go through?

Dayne ran all over the Cowboys last Thanksgiving. We don't have the OL that Denver does, though.

Looked to me like the run blocking was the problem. Randy Cross even pointed out that there were defenders in the backfield as soon as the ball got handed off.

I nominate Mike Sherman for the goat.

Did you watch the same game as I did? The holes were there. But everything collapses after a LONG period of time and that is exactly what happend. We have NO speed in the backfield...

Has anyone considered that we DO NOT!!! have a quality RB. The line is not to great either. Maybe, just maybe, if we had a back with speed and great vision he might be able to create something out of nothing. I am sick and tired of the way these backs are running. They run straight into a pile of people and go nowhere. I said before the draft, RB position would be our achillies heel this yr if we did not draft a rb and here we are 6 wks into the season and we have no running game. I can see ourselves with the 2nd maybe 3rd overall pick this coming draft. Hopefully, they will take the best back available this coming yr. and not screw it up like they did last yr. Then again they might want to stick with the backs we have and try and draft another overrated Defensive Lineman.

Exactly true....Ron Dayne cannot and will not push a pile or get extra yards...he is BIG, FAT, and SLOW!!! With him in the backfield getting the majority of the carries we wont be able to run and we wont be able to win...

Are you saying you actually watched the game today or just guessing. Dayne looks like a poodle trying to hump the leg of the embarrassed little religious lady. He wouldn't know a hole if friggin Jenna Jameson was waiving a checkered flag at him.

Greatest post ever.

I agree that the blocking was not very good....but.. Dayne looks so slow running the ball. Wells looked better than that.

all through the game, I was thinking "How was he a heisman winner"?

He just looked like he was going in slow motion to me and with no power .. Wells seemed to have more power

Yes some of us know that we do Not have a Quality RB... May I suggest:

Michael Turner from SD... He would help us alot... I would give up a #2 pick for him today! He has Vision, Speed, Power and wants to start!!! Lets make it happen!

The Mighty Texan

Michael Turner Texans RB of the Future!!!!

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Infantrycak again

There has got to be a posting hall of fame where we can stash this one...

I love yer avitar thing... Wasn't Earl the greatest? I have watched it over and over again... Yer the man ...

Wish We had an Earl Cambell here!!!

The Mighty Texan

Michael Turner Texans Future RB

And here I was thinking we cut Dayne. Did get a great quote out of it though. Might have to make it into a signature. Can we please end the Ron "No Blame" Dayne experiment? 3 different teams but he's not the problem. He's "misused".

Seeing Ron Dayne sitting on the bench with his beard reminds me of Earl Campbell. Then he gets on the field and ......

There was no hole....

Go back and watch Dayne's 2nd goal line run in the first quarter. Huge hole on the left side and he drives into the back of the pile and sits there until the whistle blows. I couldn't stand to watch the rest of it but I'm sure it wasn't the only time. The Miami game is even worse.

There were plenty holes....Dayne nor Gado make cuts.....period.....

I was so heated watching the game....Everytime we ran.....

Our backs weren't getting blown up in the backfield....therefore that means our line was getting push....If your line is getting push.....there are holes....The backs just need to make cuts....

Our line blocked the cowboys 10000X better than the cardinals blocked the bears...The Cardinals were getting hit in the backfield a lot...We weren't...

Anyone with eyes should have been able to see that our backs are not good.....

I agree that hole was there. Since he's been here, Dayne has not followed his fullback as often as he should've. On that run, and a couple of others, he should have followed his fullback.

Anyone in here old enough to have played football on one of those metal fields that vibrated? .... the players had magnets on the bottom ..... the running backs run straight ahead and smash into the first object in its path ...

Thank you. I thought I was crazy being one of the few who have realized this. Our backs suck. I say start Chris Taylor Sunday because our running game cannot get any worse.

All true, but I think it will be Dane or Gado teamed with Lundy come this Sunday. (hey that ryhmes!)

Maybe DD was better than many posters here like to assert.

I expect that some semblence of a running game shows up Sunday ( I think they will be P.O.ed about Dallas). If we can get consistant yardage from it and the defense shows up, I think we can take the Jags at our home. No running game = long day.

Just a little FYI..... the Jags allow 3.5 ypc.

Just a little FYI, Jacksonville has a top 10 rushing defense. They are only allowing 92 yards per game, and 4 of their 5 games have been against teams ranked 14th or higher in rushing in the NFL, Dallas #4, Washington #7, Pittsburgh #8, Indy #14, and the Jets #21. Holding those 5 teams to an average of 92 yards per game and 3.5 yards per carry is VERY impressive. When you can hold teams like that to less than 100 yards per game rushing, what do you think they will do to our #32 ranked rushing game? They are going to eat our running game alive. And 3.5 yards per carry isn't all that great to begin with in the NFL, and we're only averaging 3.0 yards per carry.

But....but...but...but it's Battle Red Day!!!!!!!!:brickwall :crutch: :francis:

I agree with you. There's one thing that caught my eye about the 92 yds/game against the jags and it's pretty sad. It's the fact that I'd be as happy as a lark if we could even muster up 90 yards rushing in a game.:brickwall

That's my point. I couldn't(and didn't) say it any better.

I hope our fans understand that if we avg 3.5 ypc come Sunday, then our team did as well as every other team that faced Jacksonville so far this year. If we are going to gain 100 yards on the ground, we are going to have to run the ball 28 times.

While it's not a good run game, we have done as well as everybody else in the league against some of the best defenses in the league.... Remember, DwightFreeney played against us.

#11 Philly allows 3.6ypc 28.5 att/game & 103.5 yds/g
We achieved 3.5 ypc on 20 att & 70 yards.
We definitely should have run the ball more to keep Philly (an explosive offense) off the field

#32 Indy allows 5.2 ypc 24.3 att/game & 166 yds/g
We achieved 4.7 ypc on 23 atts & 108 yds/g
We had 5 offensive possesions in the first half, rushing for 51 yards on 13 carries (3.9 ypc) and only put 3 points on the scoreboard.

#14 Wash allows 3.8 ypc 29.3 att/game & 111 yds/g
We achieved 3.4 ypc on 18 atts & 61 yds/g
10 carries, for 38 yards (3.8 ypc) in the first half. we are only down by 14. we get the ball after the half, go 3 & out (1 carry for 2 yards, incomplete, incomplete) then our defense gives up another 7. our QB fumbles the ball to the redskins, we go down by 24 as our defense holds them to a field goal.

Ron Dayne gets 2 more carries, one for 11 yards, and one for 5 yards. but it's garbage time now, everybody is padding their stats.

Our defense sucked, but our offense was flat until the 4th Qtr... although our Running game was fair to middle the entire game.

#3 Miami allows 3.2 ypc 22.8 att/game & 93.3 yds/g
We achieved 2.0 ypc on 33 atts & 65 yards

33 attempts, even though we avg'd 2.0 ypc, mainly because we ran in obvious situations to kill the clock, 3 of which was after the 2 minute warning to end the 1st half. 4 of those are from our QB(who had 4 carries for a -8 yards) who nealed the ball twice to run the clock out at the end of the game.

#2 Dallas allows 2.7 ypc 26.0 att/game & 67.0 yds/g
We achieved 2.0 ypc on 17 atts for 34 yards.

This was a tough game, we controlled the ball in the first half, partly due to running the ball.... even though it was for little to no gain. We were on the field, they weren't. we went into the half, leading 6-3.

RonDayne started the game with 7 carries for 12 yards, but because of two penalties that negated what could have been big yards, we should get credit(??) for an extra 20 yards, but since one penalty was inside the 10(possibly saving a touchdown) we only get half the distance to the goal. Yeah, he didn't punch it in from the one, but our QB stared down his reciever and gave dallas the ball on our 23 yard line.... so it kinda evens out.

RonDayne only gets the ball 3 more times, because of said INT, another INT, and our special teams giving the ball away.

Those 3 carries were for 4 yards(2nd & 6, he sets us up for 3rd & 2), -1 yard(3rd & 1 he is hit in the backfield, by CCanty & MarcusSpears), and no gain(3rd & 1, RoyWilliams made a great play, which we actually should've taken advantage of since he rocketed to the LOS everytime he saw Davids back.).
