Why are the AZ Cardinals so bad?

gtexan02

Working?
Every year, they have a great draft, great FA period, great TC, and are expected to contend for a playoff spot. And every year, without fail, they fall flat on their face and look like a top 5 pick.

Whats the deal? They seem to have a lot of talent.

I don't think Dennis Green is a very good coach. This year, their offensive line is terrible as well. It makes our O-line look like we have 5 Jonathan Ogden's. I know their owner is very cheap (I think the last name is Bidwell) but you think they'd have one decent season at least.

every year? it's been like this for the last 2 years. no one thought they'd do anything before that.

1: they have a bad offensive line. 2: they can't get pressure on the quarterback. 3: dennis green drafts by name and value over need and fit. 4: matt leinart isn't up to his full potential yet. when he is, they will win.

Obviously the team underachieves whether it be coaching or poor game decisions or whatever.

Perhaps it's team chemistry. Maybe guys just picking up a paycheck and not doing the extra stuff it takes to be a winner.

Coach Green said he's tired of the players whining. I take that to mean he's not taking the blame!

IMO, all this is caused by bad coaching. I've always liked the Cards. I think they've got a pretty good team. Toss in a new coach and some O-lineman here and there and you have an outstanding team.:hides:

Well to be honest I can't speak with any knowledge on them at all. I can't remember the last time I saw them in any game and I just read things here and there about them.

I always thought he was a good coach. I guess I'd have to see them play and him making a game decision to say "hey, that's dumb" or "what a good move".

Their owner I thought was known to be cheap but apparently not because it seems they have paid the bucks to bring in good players.

Oh well. I do know they have a beautiful new stadium.

Just like we have struggled they have also and for the exact same reason. Can't win the battle in the trenches on either side of the ball. If you win that and only that, and the rest of your team is only average, you would very likely be an 8-8 team or maybe better IMO.

Perhaps if the Cards continue to struggle and do get rid of Coach Green that might be a place Jeff Fisher ends up at.

I've heard Bud is probably going to be fire him.

I think I heard the 610 guys talking about that.

ding ding ding, I think we have a winner...

I also think it is coaching. So much talent on that team. Coaches have to be held responsible sometime or another. Like us last year...

If Jeff Fisher is fired, he will only be out of a job for maybe 5 minutes, if that long. 2 teams come to mind right off that would want him, Arizona and Oakland. He is a proven winner with the right personel in place...

He would go to Arizona, not Oakland. He would have just left a place with a wacko owner, why go to another.

The problem is Bill Bidwell. They were terrible long before Dennis Green got there.

It's their mascot. A little red bird scares nobody but squirrels, and I don't see any rodents as NFL mascots. ;)

I think that Marcus and DB have the right idea.

1. The owner's last name is Bidwill. He never really cared about putting a playoff team on the field. He'll make concessions to get people in the stadium, but that's it. He'll pay for a big-name free agent every few years. He hired an outcast in Dennis Green that just happens to be a good coach. Maybe they'll lose a wild-card game at best.

2. The mascot's gotta go. How does a Cardinal reflect the region of the southwest? It's generic. It worked for 1920's Chicago and 1960's St. Louis, but not 2006 Arizona. They should decide to change the name and put it to a fan vote.
