Demeco was the key to both of those sacks.....thanks for link.
Demeco was the key to both of those sacks.....thanks for link.
It was partially about Culpepper not being near the QB he used to be - and the Miami OL not being that good. That series was all about our draft and our new direction.
wtf? Look around the league...I can't understand what you guys are looking at...this is 2006 not 1976. Ryans isn't too small.Wouldn't it be great if Demeco was big enough to play MLB? If the line and backers continue to improve, maybe the safeties will be ok. Sort of what Kubes planned. Come on Petey! Get well. You too Wong.

that wasn't negative...the giver has a rep power of zero right now. He clicked positive...he just doesn't have any points to give.Wow, somehow I got negative rep for posting the video. Hopefully someone just accidentally hit the wrong button. :brickwall

WHAT!!!!!!
Did you not see when Mario mauled him in the first quarter and Cullpepper shook him off like a bad cold?
Good vid. Mario came close to getting another one on the last play.
The second sack should have gone to Weaver. He had Culpepper on the ground before Williams or Ryans touched him.
I was the one that rated, and it was 5 stars. Thanks, nice vid. As an European I haven't seen any Texan games so far on TV, so thanks.
...But those on hand Sunday found something to root for, and they let the Texans know they were behind them in a big way. And aside from the standard array of cheers, there was a new chant that originated in the fourth quarter of the Texans' 17-15 victory over the Dolphins.
"Mario! Mario! Mario!"
Ah, the first salute to No. 1 draft pick Mario Williams, who had 1½ sacks and possibly the game-saving play on a late two-point conversion attempt.
Travis Johnson said it was like a scene from a movie.
"When Brad Pitt took over the beach in Troy, and all of a sudden they were shouting, 'Achilles! Achilles!' ... well, it was like that with Mario," Johnson said.
"At first I didn't believe it," Williams said. "I didn't know what they were saying. I was thinking, 'They can't be saying my name.' But they were, and it's just something that was phenomenal. I thank the fans 100 percent for that."...

Did you also here Travis Johnson chant "Mario Bomaye" in his interview on ch.13? Thought it was toooo funny!
In the dressing room, the players were giving Mario Williams a lot of good-natured kidding about getting the first 1½ sacks of his career and tipping Ronnie Brown's two-point conversion pass that sailed through the end zone. Williams talked about how excited he was about getting a standing ovation. I'm not exactly sure that the standing O after the first sack was all that sincere.
Its funny how one sack, has me pumped up for the rest of the season.
good work...after looking at it closely Weaver blew up a double team and caused that sack. The second sack should have gone to Weaver. He had Culpepper on the ground before Williams or Ryans touched him.
Yeah....and I remember joking to the same person behind me that Mario finally got his hands on one of them thar quarterbacks but then he didn't know what to do with it when he caught it ....
Never a big Viking fan. Always thought Denny Green was over rated and Mic Tice was lucky to be able to tie his own shoes. If you can't see the difference in Culpepper's mobility (post knee vs. a couple years ago) and the fact that the Miami OL is terrible, then I can't help ya.
Did you happen to see the word 'partially' that I used in that post?
It always has to be black and white with no in-between doesn't it? (rhetorical)
Vinnie, sorry you missed the sarcasm. In fact, I think it was you that offered stats of great active MLBs about his size. We have a keeper at second round.wtf? Look around the league...I can't understand what you guys are looking at...this is 2006 not 1976. Ryans isn't too small.
Thanks a ton for this YouTube clip. I put it up immediately on the NFL Fanhouse blog:

My favorite part of it was seeing the cheering in the stands and the reaction of the players with each other. IIRC, Ryans and Williams shared a hotel room together when they first came into town and didn't have places to stay.
This is what McClain says about the moment in his blog:

Maybe not way up in the press booth, but I can say in the stands, people seemed to be plenty happy for the sack and plenty happy for him. I think a lot of the fans have this emotion about Mario.
Oh, and in this PC world we live in, did anyone else's eyebrows raise when you heard the "gorilla" comment. I don't mean to be a thread buster, but I am guessing maybe this would be a bigger deal if we didn't have the Z team on the broadcast.
That might be Weaver but looks more to me like the phantom punch Clay hit Liston with. The second sack should have gone to Weaver. He had Culpepper on the ground before Williams or Ryans touched him.
my sarcasm detector wasn't on this morning.Vinnie, sorry you missed the sarcasm. In fact, I think it was you that offered stats of great active MLBs about his size. We have a keeper at second round.
um, i'm not quite sure who that is in that picture. and yeah, the "gorilla" comment alarmed me a bit, but then the announcer states he's referring to the "gorilla off his back".
Good eye, man!! Definitely belonged to Weaver. The second sack should have gone to Weaver. He had Culpepper on the ground before Williams or Ryans touched him.
The picture is Robert Conrad.
Actor who played tough guys.
Dared people to knock a battery off his shoulder in a series of famous ads. Why that was supposed to sell more batteries, I cannot fathom.
Oh, and as for "gorilla off his back," nice backpeddling dude.
The second sack should have gone to Weaver. He had Culpepper on the ground before Williams or Ryans touched him.
The second sack looked like a fair .5 for each Meco and Mario. Culpepper saw pressure coming up the middle. Looked Marios way for an escape route but Mario and his blocker were in his face so he dropped. He definantely went down on his own power.
