The Miami Doplhins will travel to our house, Reliant Stadium this upcoming Sunday to battle our Houston Texans.
Both teams have struggled some this year, the Dolphins are 1-2 and we have a record of 0-3. Miami does have some momentum on their shoulders however, coming off a win last week. I expect a physical, well-fought football game.
The following are what I feel our Texans must do in order to have success and pull out the W Sunday against the Miami Dolphins...
-Establish a run game. This remains my top priority for this team. Running the football is so key in this offense. We have 3 great backs on our team, in Dayne, Gado and Lundy. Each of them are very capable of having success. I think we seen some nice runs from Dayne last week, but once we got down we tended to get away from the run. Gado can get some touches this week and can be productive as well. Again, running the ball is key with this offense as it can really open up the downfield passing game. This also allows us to control clock, which would be crutial for us to have control of the game. I really look for us to have a successful running game Sunday.
-Pressure Daunte Culpepper. We did a very poor job last week of getting pressure on Brunnell, as we really did not even attempt to blitz him that much. That could have been why he completed 22 straight passes. Culpepper has been sacked quite alot these first three games this year, behind an offensive line in Miami that is still sort of learning. I think this is the perfect oppurtunity for us to have a successful blitzing day, and if we get some sacks it would really get alot of momentum for our defense, get our crowd into it, etc.
-No stupid mistakes. I say this because the last couple games we have made them, espically on offense and it as hurt us. This includes fumbling the snap exchange, jumping on the o-line generating a false start penalty, things like that. These back our offense up, create like 2nd and 15 plays and we cant do anything. If we reduce this carless mistakes it can really take our offense a long way.
I really believe this will be our first Win of this season for our Houston Texans. I sort of said that last week in 'My Keys to the game vs. Washington', but i really feel the team is tired of losing, we are continuing to fight hard, have good practices, etc.
I feel this team has hit perhpas its lowest point of this season, and from here on in will make some pretty nice improvments and win football games. I said before this year even started we could have alot of success this season, and I still feel that way. We have had 3 rough games, and we are going to get better. We have shown that is some spurts already this year, and really the chemistry will start to develop and lead us foward.
If going to Reliant Stadium for this one, cheer us on loud and proud. Be a great Texan fan, despite the first 3 games. We are not even a quarter through the season yet. Whether at the game, watching on the tv, listening to it on the radio, cheer us on!
GO TEXANS!
