I agree with the idea about the defense. We hired a very no-name, past-his-prime defensive coordinator. Seems to be a pattern.....

We cut Bradford loose, another team cuts him and you want him back? I liked the guy as a person but do you really want him again? Moulds, Johnson & Walters + Putzier were supposed to be great... where are the tds? I'm not dissing them, just saying there is a mite more to it than just slinging into the air. I know you understand that and prob are just frustrated like the rest of us.

Do the Texans even know what a blitz is? They should send Ryans and Greenwood up the gut, have the DE go wide and just BUM RUSH THE HELL OUT OF THEM once or twice a series. Maybe our DC should give a little talk to Mario about head hunting a QB. Thats what Buddy Ryans told Ray Childress. It worked for a while. Take a couple of penalties, who cares, as long as someone makes the QB remember the Texans.
Matt Stevens could probably do a better job than most of these DBs. I want to see Buchanan get his job back. Give him another chance. Couldn't hurt. Our guys just suck. Except Dunta Robinson.....that guy still has skills!!!!

You must not remember Stevens very well at all. The guy would trip over his tattoos when going for a "tackle". Has even gotten an Canadian League or AFL tryout?
I also think we should sign Stonehands, if we're trying to complete a 4x400 relay team - AJ, Mathis, Bradford, DRob.
I do remember Stevens. What I remember most was he wasn't afraid to hit someone. Those tatoos just gave him a little more POP. But your right they did weigh him down.

In retrospect he really was pretty bad off. Two of his top 3 receiving options can't find a job.

I kept saying there was a reason we replace all of our receivers except for AJ. I just don't believe we are using what we really have.

One of the best moves the Texans did this offseason was getting rid of Bradford.

Basically yes it was, but what I was pointing to is that we should sling the ball all over the field and made them play catch up. With a D like ours we're shooting ourself in the foot focusing on the run game, if you want to run, conrtol the clock and win, you need to stop someone at least a few times in a game.
We have the weapons, week 6 we get mathis back so he should fill in as an outside speed WR.
The fact is we need confidence, in the pre-Dungy era Indy was a decent team and they never played a lick of D. If we can hand 40 on someone I bet heads would start perking up.

where are the TD's? last time I looked we were in the top 10 in passing TD's but if the defense gives up more than you make you still lose.

our defense absolutely will not allow us to put up 40 points on anyone. it's all about ball possession. when you only have the ball for around 20 mins a game you can only score so many points. we could try to match the other team point for point, that would be fine, but that means their defense would have to be as bad as ours.

Indy is the best pro team to achieve it, and even the oilers did to an extent in the run and shoot days.
Tech wins by forcing a shootout, OU and UT both won by spreading the field on offense. They all utilized schemes to stretch the D and pick them apart.
When overmatched in the talent department you can adjust the system to hide your deficiency...which is why Capers ain't here no mo, and most his staff is still unemployed
