........ who jumped out of my seat, screaming "go,Go, GOOOOOO" at the top of my lungs with 5 minutes left in the game, as Shante Orr picked up the SethPayne forced fumble and was streaking to the Endzone.......

Sounded like at least 50,000 fans were screaming along with me.

Man..... my heart was pumping... I was excited.... It was great to be a Texan.

Shoot........ all we had to do, was convert the two point conversion..... ONside kick........ score again...... 2 point conversion........ take it into Overtime baby....

Forget all that crap that happened in the previous 55 minutes...... this was going to define the Houston Texans..... this was going to be the payoff for 40 years of....... I'm sorry, that's New Orleans...... 4 years of Bad football in Houston.

It was all about to pay off......

Just for the next few minutes, remember how you felt at that moment..... Replay Shante running into the endzone a few times. Remember the highfives you gave your HoustonTexan Family....... the Texans that sit next to you, behind you..... in front of you. Remember that hug, as you squeezed the dickens out of your beloved, who shared that moment with you.

The score didn't show it, but 5 minutes left, and your team didn't give up. They were still fighting......

don't ruin this........ don't bring up what happened next........ just remember that moment........
 
I know what you mean. The win against KC in 2004 cemented my loyalty to the Texans forever. When we start winning, we'll forget about this and we'll have a great time.
 
my eyes bulged out of my head, i jumped 4 feet off the ground and started yelling at the top of my lungs. before he could even reach the endzone i was calculating what it'd take and how much time we had to win the game. moments like those are why stay excited that we were lucky enough to get a team back in houston, however my moment came a couple years earlier.

attending my first ever NFL game in person, we faught tooth & nail against the jaguars. goalline stand with almost no time left and each penalty has me so anxious i was about to burst. carr jumping over the pile with no time left is a moment i'll never forget.
 
I was excited as hell...we wouldn't have needed an onsides, just a defensive stop and we would have got it, because those boys would have been fired up. It would have been a re-birth. Not pointing fingers, things happened how they happened, let's move on and look to this week, but at least they had me excited and show glimpses of what we will become.
 
Agreed. Totally one of those times when the punishment did not fit the crime. The "block" didn't effect the play and the rule is dumb for changing the game that way.

Many of the TD's this year either against us or for us have been of this nature. We simply seem to be snake bitten as the saying goes. Often the difference between winning and losing is exactly that. Why we seem to have so many of those things happen to us is beyond me. I now, despite what the statistics show, we are a lot closer to being a winner than most think. I'm not happy with what I'm seeing, but I also still feel that when we bust out of this there are going to be a lot of surprised people. Offensively we are stopping ourselves and not the other team on a lot of occassions. I hope they geter done..........
 
you know whats the saddest part of that whole play? that thomas johnson's fire and heart is exemplary. he is one of the hardest playing guys on defense along with dunta robinson. the fumble thru the endzone was a heartbreaker too. I still think he was losing the ball before he was down and we would have had momentum then also. scary how much power the officials hold in that damn whistle.

Please........ let's keep the negatives out....... I'm not disagreeing, or arguing with you, but we have plenty of threads for this sorta thing....

The point of this thread,

As bad as it was....... we were still in it to win it....... with 5 seconds left in the fourth...... we aren't as far away as most people think.

Please...... please..... please hold on for a little while longer.

This city and it's fans are STARVING for a winning football team!

All due respect to the Astros and Rockets, but I remember the Luv ya Blue days in the astrodome. If the Texans became really good, this city would go BONKERS! :woot2
 
I cheered like crazy.
Even if we hadn't tied it, it would have been a great moment to remember.

Even if the penalty hadn't happened, I don't think we would have won. They were running all over our defense.

PS: Why do you use so many "......."s in your post? It makes it very strange to read.
 
Absolutely the best play of the year for us. For more good news, only two QB's have more TD's then Carr, McNabb & Eli ( good company ) Carr's passer rating is the best in the NFL 113.6, With-out the INT's we were used to seeing from Carr, this should serve as evidence that we are ( although slowly ) moving in the right direction.

I got excited when I heard the two smacks put on Betts by Payne and I can't recall who the other person was but there were two loud smacks. Then to see Orr running with the football the other way was the icing on the cake. I do have to admit though no matter how negative it may sound, when Orr was roaring for the endzone I had a feeling in my stomach that it was too good to be true and it was.

I think there is a difference between being 'snake bitten' and 'undisciplined'. I got the message that this thread is supposed to stay positive, but I can't accept that the Thomas Johnson penalty and oh, let's say the C.C. Brown play against the WR in teh end zone on earl's interception is snake bitten.

It is undisciplined, bad decision making, and it should be dealt with harshly by the coaching staff. Thomas Johnson said he didn't know the rule about hitting the QB... you are a professional football DLineman, that excuse isn't good enough... you are paid to know those things. I hope he carries in teh equipment after practice for the rest of the year. Inexcusable.
 
So, is the rule you cant hit a player that far away from the play, or you cant hit a QB that far away from the play?

Did he slam him to the ground, or did he hit him from behind, or was it a clean hit???
 
This is what happened to me.

Before the play, I turn to my friend Diane and say, "Ok, interception or fumble returned back for a touchdown."

And she says, "Yeah right, and then monkeys will fly out of my ***."

And I say, "Hey it could happen. It would be the start of the best Texans victory ever."

And then right after that, Orr is running down the field. Right near where we are sitting.

And I am waiting for the monkeys to come flying out, but alas, there are two yellow flags on the naughty part of the field.


Sometimes I feel cosmically taunted.
 
I'm with you on this one TK. I remember thinking, after all of this, after we have played so badly and taken it up the tailpipe all game long, after we had looked so overmatched for so much of the game, here we were, fighting hard, and right back in it.

Then I saw the flags.

This game, in all reality, turned on a number of plays. A missed assignment, a stupid penalty, a bad tackle. That's football and I look forward to seeing what we can do when we correct those mistakes.
 
I, too, was up on my feet screaming, "Goooo!"....and then I noticed the Redskins fans sitting next to me laughing. For just one moment I thought they had lost it...until I saw the flags and knew- well, this is a positive thread. Suffice to say for that few seconds life was good.:bananasplit:
