So what if we give up the big play?......we have not been able to stop anyone thus far. Let;s blitz all day long. It CAN'T be any worse than what we are seeing now.

Go Texans!

I was worried that blitzing would allow them to pick apart our poor secondary. Then I realized we've given up almost 500 yards a game. Obviously playing a prevent defense isn't preventing **it.

How much more could theey give up if they blitz? As stated above 500 + yards to a team that was almost dead last in offense this year makes you want to choke on your own vomit. Look at the Bengals last year, they werent a good defense, but they forced opponents into turnovers with pressure and took their lumps when their opposition got the right play off. I just dont see how it could get any worse is all Im sayin...:twocents:

For last, 3 games our defence has made the player of the week. Now you want suicide attacks. Great idea.. going for the 4th week in a row we make other teams Quarterback the player of the week. :cowboy1:

So in your opinion, running the same defense is the answer. Insanity (def) - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

ah, we have been giving up the big play, little plays, etc. We have not made a play. I agree bring the blitz and bring it often. One of Brunnels few incomplete passes was on a blitz. We just don't bring it nearly enough.

I agree. Blitz the run. Blitz the pass.

If nothing else, give them some strange formations to confuse them.
This plain vanilla reactionary defense is not working.

Gotta get an edge.

If I was Richard Smith I would start sending some blitzes alot more often. We're getting burned one way or the other, we might as well make them sweat a little.

I agree.. I don't understand why they are always just trying to rush the front 4. Obviously it isn't working, so why not try something new? Thats the reason Brunell had so many consecutive completions, because he had all day to throw. At least blitzing you can switch it up and they will not know who is coming every single down. As of right now they can tell that only the front 4 are going.

If we don't blitz this week, against a QB with a bad wheel, then there is no hope for Richard Smith.

Sorry, but that's the way it is. There is no reason for us to stay with the same gameplan that has produced the sorry results we have seen so far.

Kubiak admitted on his radio show that they couldn't get pressure on Brunell even when they rushed 5.

And I know I'm being a broken record here, but how can you say the secondary sucks when you give the QB all day to throw?

I have yet to receive a a satisfactory answer to that question, so I'm not getting my hopes up on seeing one this time either.

We run stunts instead of blitzs. We never overload the line we try to trick the line. I have never seen the Texans have more people rushing then lineman blocking. I have seen Trvis Johnson run to the outside and Mario run to the inside. But it is never effective. It does not fool the lineman and it slows down the rush. Therefore the quarterback simply waits the 20 to 30 seconds it takes for a reciever to come open and the d-lineman cry about holding calls. The guys are not in position to be successful.

Do you really believe the Cowboys secondary is that good or that the Texans's secondary is that bad that Brunell and Culpepper would pick them apart? I don't. The Cowboys blitzed the hell out of Brunell and made him look washed up. The Texans only blitzed once in their loss to the Redskins, which resulted in an incomplete pass, and he set a record for consecutive passes on them. I don't think that is a coincidence. The key to a good pass rush is making the rush unpredictable. In other words, bringing rushers from different areas at different times so as to confuse the pass blockers and allow rushers to come free on the QB. Can anyone honestly say that the Texans pass rush is unpredictable? I'm not saying the Texans will win anymore games by blitzing than they will without blitzing but atleast they will hit the opponent's QB for a change.

That seems to a lot of fans on here to be stating the obvious but I do agree with you Battle. I just don't see why the Defensive coaches aren't seeing this like even Blind Freddy can. Other teams (even the bad ones it seems every now and then) can do it, we seem to be the worst team at it though. No wonder we can't win when we can't stop the opposition from scoring. No matter how many good receivers we have, no matter how much Kubiak improves Carr, unless the Defense gets itself sorted out and some decent blitz pacakages, we will be picking 1st overall in next year's draft for another defensive player...

Reminds me of a line in "Any Given Sunday"

I can't remember the actual quote but it went something like "If you screw up, screw up big. I won't rip ya, but try to make a play."

In order to kill the defeatest attitude we have to win, whats the worst that can happen, they score and we lose, the upside would be we make the play and everyone gains confidence.

I heard D.Carr on the radio and he said that after the skins scored their 1st TD and tied the game a lot of players were on the sideline with that "here we go again" look....

Here is the thing, we have been doing somnething for a while now and it has not improved. We have allowed opposing QBs to pick us apart. If we continue to do the same thing, how can we expect change?

It is like the idea of a person who is feeling depressed who sits in their home and ruminates and thinks about the depression. If they continue to sit in their home and ruminate about the depression, will they get better? Or will they get better by doing something different like seeing a psychologist?

I say, lets try something new. Lets see our psychologist and BLITZ!
