I can't believe I'm saying this, but--The Saints and its fans are models.

Working?
This is amazing. Tonight, the Saints and its fans are a model franchise.

-Hire a good coach.
-Have a good offseason
-Play well
-Give your fans something to cheer about
-Let your fans wreak havoc

The NoLA fans are causing some crazy atmosphere in new orleans. The Falcons look completely unprepared for this environment. I don't know how good NOLA is, but their fans are winning this game for them. And before people start saying the Texans should do this, remember that the 'Aints gave them something to cheer about.

Yeah....... we screwed up when we've sold out Reliant since day one. We should have been taking notes from the Saints.

It only took them 39 years to sell out their 70,000 seat stadium...... if we'd have played our cards right, we could've started the 2044 season 2-0 for the first time in our teams history......

Sellouts mean nothing, when the attendance after the 3rd quarter is 20,000.
Sellouts mean nothing when the fans are silent
Sellouts mean nothing when the fans are actually booing rather than cheering.

Are you watching this? Since opening year, I've never seen our fans or stadium this loud and pumped up.

I didn't say the Saints were models over their entire history. I'm saying that TONIGHT this is what all fans should strive for.

You know what else the Saints did that makes them good models?

Draft Reggie Bush.

*runs away and ducks fruit*

Hey guys, I found Bobo!

This is just like our inaugural game. The NFL came back to a city that needed relief.

Actually, I've always had pity for the long time Saints fans. It's the new Saints fans, aka Reggie Bush Saints fans that talk trash on this MB that get under my skin. Long time fans have suffered through a terrible owner for so long. Congrats, for being 3-0, but this season is far from over. We will see how everthing turns out for them as their season continues. Personally, I still don't see them making the playoffs. The Saints played better last night, but I expect the Falcons and Carolina to finish with the best records in that division.

We finished 2-14 last year, because we were that bad.......

They finished just behind us, because a Hurricane tore through their city.....

The team has been loaded with talent for the last 6 years, but because of in-fighting between the coach & GM, they've been spinning their wheels.

Their defense is top notch...... Their Corners played a little better last night than expected, but they're pretty good. Same with the Linebackers...... this is the first season any of those guys are Saints, first year they played together. Again I'm sure the emotions and what not amped them up, and they played better than they normally would. But not that much better. Their DLine is pretty stout.

Offensively, they look like they haven't missed a beat with Colston coming in for Stallworth, and Joe Horn just might make the ProBowl again.... his 5th in his 7 years as a Saint. Their Line has been playing pretty well in the regular season, and Duece is very healthy.

Their only weekness is when they put that #25 guy in there to pass block.

If they don't make the play-offs, I'll be surprised.

ugh.... now a thread of your saints loving.....wow their fans cheered because it was their 1st game back...they're a 2-0 team...its easy to cheer when you're winning..get over it

And you may have forgot to mention the biggest change; replacing Aaron Brooks with Drew Brees.

Sellouts? When a team is doing badly, I would hope for less attendance to make the owner pay attention. If fans are going to hang their hat on "we've got a garbage team, but we sell out every game", it'll be a long time before this team reaches the playoffs.

The place was rockin last night. It was at a fever pitch. Reliant CAN be like that, but it's a two way street. The team has to give us a reason to cheer. The Saints played like they wanted thier fans to be pumped up, and the fans responded.

Hang on now...let's slow down.

They went 10-6 in Haslett's 1st season and he turned out to be another example to why they're considered a bad franchise (fair or not). Dallas fans weren't exactly distraught when Payton was hired away from us.

One good year (it has yet to be determined that this is a good year for the Saints) will not erase a history of a franchise. Best of luck to them though.

The Saints' D made stop after stop against Vick and the Falcons and they never trailed the entire game. If our D played like that there would be a mushroom cloud above Reliant.

They have already equalled last year's win total in only 3 games.

I realize that. So does being 3-0 now erase the fact they've only won 1 playoff game in their existence?

On the opposite end of that spectrum, the Steelers are 1-2. Does this mean their franchise (one of the most successful in the history of the NFL) could be headed for the toilet?

I'm just saying let's hold off on the declarations that the Saints are a model franchise with a model fan base because of a 3-0 start and their first (emotional) home game in over a year.

As much as I loathe your team (nothing personal, matter of circumstance), I have to agree with that. I've been with the Saints for a long time and while I am EXTREMELY excited at the possibility that we could be building a very solid team, I realize that we need to stay up in order to remove that "loser" tag from our franchise that we have been labeled with for so long.

I have seen this team get off to several starts as good or better than this one and have things go down the tubes. This isn't saying that I think it will happen this year, as this team and staff has done nothing to make me doubt them as of yet, but I by no means think we should be considered one of the elite franchises in the league based off of these three games.

In a way, I believe the team we identify the most with is the Bengals, who were for the most part perrenial losers (although they had more success than we did in their history) and were considered as such until they proved it on the field every week. It is going take much more than one (or 3) wins for this team to validate itsself in the public eye as winners.

Here's to hoping that this is truly the turning point for our franchise that I've been waiting for.

(And thanks for the compliments to our team and fans in the originating post.)

Very impressed with not only the Saints fans but the team as well.

The Superdome looked beautiful and it looked like a great atmosphere. I heard Mike Vick talking about the game and he was classy...he said it was a special night for him and he'll always remember it and tell his kids about it and he said the Saints deserved all the praise.
