Why so much angst?

We have started out with three losses. Not exactly ideal, but hardly unexpected. Most of the more realistic fans on the MB thought a 1-5 or 0-6 start were very likely. I know we played really bad on defense today, but we aren't going to the SuperBowl or playoffs and it is pretty much what a large contengent expected (maybe expected to look a bit better, but still lose) for our record at ths point. IMO, we pick it up one win in the first 6 games and in the second half of the season pull it together and wind up 6-10. So, basically I'm saying sit back, pour a cold one and calm down. It's a 16 game season with a boatload more yet to come, some of which will be good and a great deal will suck, because well....we just aren't a very good team yet, but we will be.

I think we could have figured the first 3 games would be tough, but to me it isn't the loss.. it is the way we are losing..badly,but I do realize we have new schemes and such

Where is the light at the end of the tunnel? Can't get the other team off the field. Three games and we've forced 6 punts.....easy math.

I think most did not expect the Texans to come out and rip up the league. Starting with a schedule of Philadelphia (4 time NFC championship game participant), Colts (AFC SOuth Champ 5 years running) and the Redskins (last year playoff participant), this would hardly be realistic for a team that finished last, last season in almost every statistical category. BUT, I think most did expect to see progress, and that simply has not been seen. The offense has showed signs of gelling and opening up more on the passing the game, but the running game got worst, the defense looks similar, the effort is similar, and the coaching decisions are similar................hmm. Same ol' Texans. We can all grab cold ones, sit back and relax and wait for the team to become better we want, but until this team starts playing competitive ball, I would give any season ticket spending fan the right to say anything they want about this team.

...same with the Titans and Bucs
Yup, Simms may even lose his life today. (edit: Simms should be OK, erroneous report came out but something bad happened, that is for sure) Now that is a loss no one wants. I would rather my team go 0-16 than ever see a Texan, or for that matter Texan opponent, tragically die from playing this great game we all love.

As for the OP, yeah there is a lot of angst. We are 0-3 again and already talk is starting about #1 picks and next year's draft. I am going to just enjoy this year and hope for the best. What's done is done. WHo's drafted has been drafted. The personnel decisions are all in the past. *****ing about 'shoulda couldas' is just pointless and futile. Might as well enjoy the season before it ends. It's a long offseason....

I like this year that we arent lying down when getting blown out and are still attempting to compete and play hard. It's one of the few silver linings I have been able to delude myself enough into believing in. The team has kept competing to the final whistle...another thing we never got with the Capers regime. Players are going to start realizing that they could be gone tomorrow if things dont turn around. Oh, I didn't see much from Peek or Babin, were they dinged? They had been making plays in the previous 2 games occasionally...didnt see it today.

that is pretty much the way to look at it, not good yet but at times this team looks like it can be really good...in a few years we WILL have it together.

Peek was out with an injury. Babin got in at DE a lot today ...
That figures. Normally Peek is always good for two or three QB collisions, of which I saw few today. Didn't notice a lot of impact by Babin...must have been distracted by watching Brunell playing catch with his WRs all day long. That Portis run before the end of the 1st Half reminded me of that TD to Stallworth from McNabb in Game1 under same situation....that is just pathetic and inexcusable at this level of football

At least for me, my angst comes from the defense.

Most of the stuff on offense looks improveable, though I am very concerned with the run blocking. I can see some improvement over last year. (that is faint praise given last year's offense).

The defense looks almost irretrievably horrible. Part of it is players, but with the massive total numbers involved, I think it is coaching and scheme. Richard Smith has no track record as a solo DC, so it provides me with little confidence that things can be turned around.

But it is not the kinda angst that makes me want to kick people when they are down, or start another suckage thread, or whatever.

Just going to support them even more, and hope something good eventually comes from this.
