History in the making

Texans fans, we are truly witnessing history this season. The defense is on pace to give up 8,000 yards. David Carr is on pace to be the all-time fumble leader at QB. If you thought it was bad last season, you ain't seen nothing yet. This organization is an embarrassment to itself and the city, but it's better than nothing... or the Titans. Go Texans!!!

:gotexans1 lets set some records that no one will ever break.

I am one of the biggest Carr critics out there, but Carr is not the biggest problem of the Texans. Yeah a lot of his stats have been in garbage time or against prevent/deep zones with no blitzing but the bottom line is that he has shown some measure of progress under Kubiak in less than a year. That is something he never showed under the previous regime. Lets hope he can cut down on the fumbles and continue to progress and show some more QB moxie. It may not show in the W-L column yet but it's not Carr's fault they are 0-3.....yet again.

The defense is embarassing and #96 Johnson needs to be waived yesterday. People need to be held accountable on defense and we need to display much more intensity. Obviously getting rid of Robaire was a horribly retarded move and was purely financially based.

One good sign from today's travesty of a defense was that Dunta finally played halfway decent and Earl and Demeco both continued to display great promise for the future. Mario was still MIA but what else is new. I think errrrr hope the guy could be good but he has already earned the nickname of 'Tin Man' until he proves otherwise....

I'll say it again. Carr will NEVER take ANY NFL team ANYWHERE. He is garbage.

He gets to pad his stats after the blowout. It's kind of like a fighter getting pummeled for 2:50 of every round and then throw a flurrey in the last 10 seconds to sway the judges to his side. He sways some of you. Sorry, HE STINKS!!!!

Remember, he will NEVER take this team to the Playoffs. N-E-V-E-R.

yeah and Carr gave up almost 500 yds of offense all by his lonesome!!! Our defense flat out lost this game and has lost all of our games this year. How the hell do you give up 22 straight completions, oh yeah I know David Carr was rushing the qb, David was playing linebacker and he was also covering the recievers. All this stuff about Carr is BS!!!

Doug.. so if stats are garbage time stats... so does the INT count?

Afterall it was during "garbage" time

He gets to pad his stats after the blowout.

I have a problem with this mindset.

Our defense obviously blows and couldn't stop the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders from scoring at least 21 on them right now....

So does that mean that Peyton's stats against us don't matter since he's essentially playing a team that consists mostly of "2nd stringers"?

It doesn't matter who you're playing or what the score is...there's always a chance of the other team coming back (a la NYG and PHI last week and Indy and the Bucs a few years back). Any coach who puts in second stringers on defense after he's amassed a lead has become a little too comfortable and is susceptible to humility in the long run. So if you say that Carr is padding his stats at the end of every game...I say you're wrong.

Dude, let a sleeping dog lie. Carr has looked better as a whole even if you take into consideration a good measure of his stats have been during garbage time. I have seen a little progress, and for that I am grateful as a fellow Texans fan. Stats never outright lie, but sometimes they can stretch the truth..... :) Don't try to troll me into some stupid argument about our own definitions of 'garbage time' or 'cosmetic points/stats'....

The Defense and Front Office (mostly the FO) are to blame for our 0-3 record. Not Carr (although his fumbling hasn't helped). Not Carr's Dad. Not Carr's Haircut. It's us paying the piper for years and years of bad drafts and bad FA signings/trades. *drinks beer* here is to hoping we can change that current trend and start improving our talent.

Yes we are truely the laughing stock of the NFL besides the Browns, who know's we might both be 0-15 by the time the new year's eve game comes between us and the Browns, any takers on who will win........

I agree with that, however the "garbage time" stats is getting thrown around a bunch here.

Who cares how carr's playing, if you give up 500 yards a game, you can have Joe Montana back there and you'll still lose.. THIS DEFENSE IS HORRIBLE......

And in related news, here is the new book about the 2006 Houston Texans defense....

You must have read the R Justice column in this mornings Chronic.

"Their offensive and defensive line play has been terrible. The cornerbacks are nothing special, and David Carr padded his lofty quarterback rating in the fourth quarter of last week's blowout loss to Indianapolis."

Clueless

Is this where you came up with your 'take'?

How is Carr padding his stats?

Most teams.... when trailing by multiple scores near the end of the game.... resort to passing on every play.

Padding ones passing stats is continuing to pass, even while leading, near the end of the game. Which, by the way, Carr cannot be accused of.

Kubiak calls these plays, not Carr. Carr padding his stats? ..:dontknowa

If our running back gained 100 yards in a game he would be praised.

If AJ goes over 100-150 yards in receptions he would be praised.

If Mario were to accidently get a couple of sacks in a game he would be praised.

If DeMeco gets 10 tackles in a game he would be praised.

If Dunta were to get an int. or two in a game he would be praised.

David Carr is among the league leaders in QB rating but local Carr haters proclaim it is a useless rating.

Anything to reinforce the self worth of their own opinion I suppose.

Whatever.

Its OK to be a Carr hater if thats your bent, but you need to be a little more subjective.

:coffee:

Now that we are destined to get another top pick this year I am scared as to what we will do with it. Only one of our top picks (AJ) has developed into the elite player we thought he would be. I cant sit through another horrible pick by the staff when there are more obvious choices. After 3 conscutive years of drafting D Lineman guess what..........we still be D Lineman. My grandmother could have made better picks than the previous staff did and I am sick and tired of this.

Regardless of the suckiness of the D, Carr will NEVER be a winner. He's a LOSER. Remember this post as I have already determined that he is not NFL QB material. I figured that out 3 years ago just by watching him play. He just is not any good. That is fact.

That's OPINION, not FACT.
