Peter King Picks?

That scenario is not out of the realm of possiblity. He's getting too much credit from outsiders for that QB ratio, but he's not getting enough from his own fans who think you just replace the QB every time we lose.

Another example of how King looks solely at stats and never really watches the games.

Ditto... He must have caught the last quarter of the colts game before making that statement.

If David can play like that for 4 quarters, he will be a God in Houston.

Carr just needs to take care of business then.

The next two weeks are golden opportunities to put "THE GREAT TEXANS DEBATE" to rest by David Carr himself.

We'll see.

Actually, I am looking forward to these next two games. I think it will tell us a lot about the team.

OK this is a fantasy guy (players he loves this week) but it was kind of funny:

David Carr, QB, Texans. What's worse? Needing a QB this week so badly you're looking hard at David Carr, or being a fantasy expert and Redskins fan who has to type Carr's name because you know he actually will have a good game against the banged-up, horrific defense of your beloved Redskins?

Andre Johnson, WR, Texans. Seriously, I'm gonna throw up here soon.

Owen Daniels, TE, Texans. If you own Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates or Jason Witten, need a bye-week fill-in and didn't get Desmond Clark, here's a guy who could find the end zone. Because, as I might have mentioned, my Redskins are horrific.

Redskins RB Clinton Portis or RB Ladell Betts. As of this writing, Portis is expected to play, but that obviously can change. Whoever gets the start will get the rock a lot on the road.

Proof positive that King doesn't even watch half the games and only looks at the stats...but whatever, Go Texans.

post-edit: just read the thread and someone said same damn thing as me before...oh well...

doug ftw

funny to me is you give props over and over to Williams(and I do too, due to being a rookie)...but Carr with a new coach..you don't have the patience

It is strange to me with those that are impatient with Mario, but are patient with DC. 2 games versus 60 is a little bit of a difference.

you people really are getting pathetic.

I dedicate this song to all the people who refuse to back down from thier Carr hate, and will not acknowledge that he has looked alot better so far this year.

HAHA, where do you people find these things. You have way too much free time. Are you a college student too? J/K. That's a great find.

Are there a lot of those folks out there? Just wonderin'

In any event, Mario should get more slack than Carr at this point. However, even outside Texan land QB's running new systems get slack--just today on ESPN they were talking about Brunell (14th year in the league) needing time to adapt to Saunders' system. Anyone who thought the turn around (if it comes) would be overnight is just as unrealistic as someone saying Mario should have already impacted the league.

I have not seen any data on the amount, but a strange comparision nonetheless.

Saunders inherited Brunell, while Kubiak wanted Carr extended because, I am guessing, that Carr could pick up the offense quickly as well as all of the other variables that make him the winner he is.

Carr is playing as well as he can, which is good and bad. The rest of the team clearly needs to step up. Including Moulds for the sake of my fantasy life.

edit: Peter King is crazy

Is Carr playing Boise State again this weekend????? :brickwall

YEAH IT TELL'S YOU THAT THE TEXAN CAN'T BEAT A GOOD TEAM!!!!!

Williams = Rookie
Carr = 5th year starter still looks like rookie

that is why. I think 5 years is plenty of patience but whatever...if Mario isn't clicking by the end of next year, he will be a target for criticism as well. Geez I have been criticizing Mario already but only for his seeming to not have a lot of passion/heart for football and competition in general...that worries me but its wayyyyy early in his career.

Just please dont act like Carr hasnt gotten plenty of patience and opportunity here in Houston. This is Year5....and the whole argument about new system is invalid when the things working against Carr (poor game management, turnover issues, and poor mechanics) have NOTHING to do with coaching.

Just keep making excuses and labeling me as some sort of Anti-Texan...I try and keep it positive and am every bit as much of a Texan fan as any of you blind Carr apologists/homers....

honestly.. how does Carr still look like a rookie?

Other than some issues stepping into the pocket, and still sometimes staring down his receiver..I dont see him making rookie moves out there.

I have a feeling that people have been burning this image of Carr, the perpetual rookie who will never amount to anything, into thier mind for so long that they are now incapable of seeing him as anything else. And its really annoying.

doubt it.........

Carr usually does well against poor teams.

There's lots of Capers players that aren't even in the league right now.

Go ask Jabbar Gaffney. How do you go from here
One of the nation's premier receivers...One of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation's top receiver...Named a semifinalist for the Football News' National Offensive Player of the Year Award...Named First Team All America by Football Writers, Walter Camp Foundation, Football News (just the second sophomore receiver in school history to earn that honor)...First Team All-SEC honors for the second consecutive season...Ranked among the nation's top two receivers by the Sporting News...67 catches for 1,191 yards (17.8 avg.) on the season with 13 touchdown catches...67 catches leads squad as do his 1,191 receiving yards, while his 13 TD receptions also rank first...Average of 108.3 receiving yards per game ranks 7th in the nation and second in the SEC...Second in the SEC in catches (67) and second in receiving yardage (1,191)...SEC leader in TD catches with 13...1,191 receiving yards is fourth best season total in UF history...67 catches rank tied for sixth best seasonal total in UF history...First player in UF history to register back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons...Had 100+ receiving yards in eight of 11 games (Marshall-102, UL-Monroe-102 and Miss. Everyone knows that Florida receivers never amount to a hill of beans in the NFL. Gaff was a product of the Spurrier system at Florida. The next time a Florida WR or QB (could Grossman be the first?) makes an impact in the NFL will be the first time. That being said, I thought it was a good value pick when we made it and he was actually one of the better Florida WRs....he obviously wasnt cutting the mustard in Philly...dont know anything about that though

Maybe I should have put this little dude  on the original.

I know we all just looooooooove Peter King on this board because of his "insightful" thoughts on super foofy hazelnut froth cappachinos. I just threw it out there as a "HOLY *******! Someone actually picking the Texans.

How did this turn into a Carr Hater thread? I swear that you could put a thread on here about Yogi Bear and it would somehow degenerate into a thread about how much Carr sucks. Sure, I want something to start happening but I'm willing to give it a bit with a new coach. Has anyone happened to see how Plummer has been doing since Kubiak left Denver? All the chicken littles need to cool it.

Dont know If I speak for myself here, but in my opinion this is because we didnt pass on Reggie Bush for David Carr.

How many picnic baskets does Yogi manage to keep? With all of the coaching and high expectations you'd expect he'd be better by now. Let's start BooBoo!!!

Yogi Bear might get a Carr reference. I think we need to start a Scooby Doo thread and see what happens.

Scooby, "Shaggy?"
Shaggy, "What's that Scooby? David Carr did what?"
Scooby jumps in Shaggy's arms.

or we could start a David Carr theme song to the Scooby Doo song.

David David Carr, what happened to you?
The Texans aren't good.
David David Carr, what happened to you?
We still haven't gone .500.

Come on David Carr, stop getting sacked
It's your fault the o-line sucks.
Don't blame them cause we all know
you're getting too many bucks.

You can just fill in the rest...

Yo

Im still not hearing where yall get off dogging on Carr this season. You guys are stuck in a rut.. you wont admit that Carr has looked better, and all your Carr bashing is just coming off as childish now (well..it came off as childish before, but now its childish and annoying..and a bit pathetic).

So.. whats the deal? Why are you bashing Carr after he has already shown a marked improvement in just two games? Are you a fan or not? Because a fan should be HAPPY that a player is showing improvement, you guys seem to take more enjoyment out of coming up with new sarcastic and immature ways of bashing Carr.

I agree with Kubiak. Carr has looked good for about a qtr in each of the first 2 games, and that ain't going to help us win very many games...

He hasnt made many mistakes.. that combined with the fact that he has looked good at all is a reason to be optimistic. He has improved.

sorry but football is a TEAM sport. if david carr has a pro bowl year and the texans finish less than even , all you Carr haters/blamers will still say he wasnt the leader this team needed or some nonsense like that. our defense stunk in the first two games, thats why we lost, and we couldnt run the ball effectively, but that's prolly carr's fault too. people that blame a games results on one person or give credit to one person are not only not the teams fan, they arent even footbal fans in my oppinion.

I kind of get the idea that the "Carr haters" are just the bully types in school. They always have to find a problem with everything, pick on one particular person, get a riot started, and start name-calling their way into supremacy. Overall, I very rarely see the so-called "Carr homers" saying the "Carr haters", as individuals, are dumb or ignorant or whatever. I rarely see them call someone out by name and start criticizing them. Yet, it seems the "Carr haters" get their jollies by calling out individual "Carr homers" and they try to start a war of words with people who simply don't care to participate in such elementary activities. I thought things changed once you got through puberty. Maybe these guys haven't hit that stage yet? :wild:

I've got a couple problems (maybe more) with your post. First, our HC (Gary Kubiak) has said many many times, '...how Carr goes, the team goes.' An 'effective' Carr can be a 'difference' maker...

Secondly, :homer: 's all over this board constantly say we would be a much better team if we had a certain RB or TE or DE or OL,etc. so don't act like this is a solo thought for the 'half empty glass' crowd.

'Aren't even football fans...' Last year, a certain group of board fans abandon the board/team as the losses mounted and they realized we weren't headed for the SB. Do you remember who these 'true' fans were?

Really what one identifiable group left in great numbers?

Oh, man. You got that right. For the "we needed Reggie Bush" crowd, Reggie Bush has 72 yards rushing through TWO GAMES vs Cleveland and Green Bay. Yes, he has 120 yards receiving, too. Anyone feeling that heat? Yes, he's set the world afire.

Wow. Yeah. We really screwed that one up. We could have paid what? Three, four times more for what we were already getting? Kube's and the FO look like salary cap geniuses to me.
