Laugh it up now...sure, go ahead. Everyone's laughing at the Texans again.
Yes, they looked awful today. I'll admit that. But this is the COLTS, not the Raiders, what was supposed to happen?
Two games after a 2-14 season everyone's jumping ship. TV stations are pulling Texan games and switching to Bills-Dolphins (Not in the RGV, shockingly) and the season is doomed. A couple things:
- We all knew the Texans' first half schedule was brutal. Philly, Indy, Jacksonville, Dallas, N.Y. Giants. Those are not gimmes, people.
-The new schemes are being implemented and it takes more than 2 games to get things rolling...especially against good teams.
-No one looks worse than the Raiders.
- Enough with the Mario bashing. Everyone said he wasn't gonna burn up the statsheets so don't act surprised.

I'm sick of all of these fans just blasting the Texans like they're never going to get better. This is YEAR ONE of the new regime and we all need to stop and realize that to get this thing turned around, it's going to take TIME. A lot of these players aren't Kubiak's, they're from the previous staff. Kubiak will bring people in whom he thinks will succeed in his system. He already started.
I saw a couple of positives today. Gado and Dayne ran well. Carr, while throwing too short for my taste, had a decent game other than the sacks and fumbles.

Real fans stand by their teams through thick and thin. As corny as that sounds, it's the honest truth.
I'm supporting the Texans no matter what, and I know they're going to get better. IT TAKES TIME!!!

I am right with you there valleytexfan. As painful as it was to watch, I saw some positives from this game that keep me excited and hopeful for THIS YEAR.

It doesn't help when the talking heads on the TV halftime show refer to us as the woebegone Texans. Fans of other teams mimic what they hear on TV. Hell..some of our own posters do the same thing. Never an original thought of their own.

We will just have to toughen up as fans and expect it for awhile.

It will make it all that much sweeter when our winning tradition begins. It will happen, sooner than later.

:coffee:

valleytexfan, I have taken the time to read your posts in the past few months. You really know what you are talking about. I appreciate that there are posters on here like you. Makes me feel better when I see all of those... undesirable.... threads popping up after a game.

I appreciate that, lucky. I'm just glad to be a Texan fan and I will continue to be no matter what...I know they'll get better soon. :redtowel: :redtowel:

Ditto.

Reality Check: We are not very likely to win the Superbowl this year.

However...
Carr does not look ruined.
Mario is learning fast.
DeMeco was a real find and will anchor the LB corps for years to come.
Babin, Weaver and some of the others on the D-Line look like they are getting into the new system.
The new RB's may step up with some more playing time.
Owen Daniels looks like a good pickup.
etc., etc., etc.

IMO the biggest problem is pass coverage. Either the current guys are going to have to improve a bunch, or we pickup some serious talent for the secondary.

I refuse to lose the faith and start supporting Dallas just because we have dropped 2 games to legitimate Superbowl contenders.

I appreciate true objectivity, but not clueless ranting which is BS. Although it was hard, a few but not all positives were:

a) Edell Shepard - pretty decent return man.
b) Gado - once he learns the plays he will contribute
c) Dayne - ran better than I have seen him run.
d) Carr - slow start, but if he has time he looks pretty good, even though game was out of reach. He is spreading ball around and had some good play and pump fakes. Kubes says his goal is to "put us in a position to win". While not having great games he is improving.
e) O Line - was starting to get just a bit of consistency until Spencer got hurt. Give Winston and Hodgdon a chance.
f) Mario - looked slightly better but has a long way to go.
g) ND Kalu - good guy to rotate in and out. Should see more of him.
h) Special Teams - fairly consistent.
i) Receivers and TE - running better routes. If we only had a bit more time to throw.
j) Secondary - only one way to go. Up!!!! They cannot get much worse!

Remember! The Kool-Aid effects last a year. So give these guys the whole season and back them, then if things do not improve then bitc*. :cowboy1:

Tired? Heck no, loving it. Success will taste so much sweeter when it comes our way. I am in for the long haul and will continue to root on the Texans come Dallas or highwater.

To be realistic, I believe we need to extend that time frame beyond just this year. Kubiak not only has to 'install' his new offenses and defenses, but he has to find the 'special' kinds of players it takes to make his system work. Now, we have players in positions they can not excel at for one reason or another and are only here because Gary can't find/train and replace everyone 'over night.'

Too, Kubiak needs to set up a system to find 'his' types of players on a regular (annual) basis as other players are lost for one reason or another--folks, this process alone could take several years!!...'strap' yourselves in and enjoy the 'ride'......:cowboy1:

I'm with all of you guys, TEXANS FOREVER; DO OR DIE. I will continue to eat, sleep, and s##t TEXANS PRIDE. We are going to be ok, there were some positive's to take from this game. Biggest negative, Secondary, but we all as true Texans fans knew this. I have faith Kubiak & Smith will get a fire in our DB'S to make them respectable!!:texan:

Whatever it takes ... I'm ready to just watch a game and enjoy it . If it takes the clear to get into my happy fan place , start mixing .

Just a warning, but----(please don't take this in a bad way)----what do you expect to find on a messageboard?

If we win and look good, people are happy and the posts reflect that. If we lose and look awful, people are pissed and the posts reflect that. We've been patient, loyal fans for 4 years, and its fair to expect a winning seaason, new coach/regime/players or not.

We've drafted at #1, #3, #10, #16 (trade down), and #1 again. A team with that high of draft picks for 5 years should have enough talent that a new coach should be able to turn things around and at least show some signs of progress (giving up 500+ yards is inexcusable if you're playing the probowl teams)

Its like watching your 401K ... you hope it grows and then you check it and find out you lost 10% last month .

I'll be here till the end! Does anyone know the status on Spencer? He was doing a wonderful job on Freeny and I also like what Gato came in and did, he has some speed.

Where does the Everclear come in, in this paradigm?
Everclear is equally effective with 401K's as it is with your football team . It gives you a diversion ( blursion ) of what ails you .

In the 1800's the household tonic cure alls contained morphine . That was before the Texans .

Kaiser Toro said:

With enough Everclear you don't realize how bad your team did that day, and the day after you are too hungover to care.

I got some Cactus Margarita (no kidding) that goes down smooth. Not quite Battle Red Koolaid (it is pink) but we are starting out a bit weak and pink is just weak Red. Everclear strips my will to live, have fun with that. :shades:

As the team strengthens, so will the color of my Cactus Margarita.

:texan: Even when it hurts. And today is quite painful.

Tennysee lost by much more, small bit of consolation.

I'm still gonna watch and still gonna root, but the fact is that this team SUCKS

As would any team coming back from 2-14 and a crap staff, scheme, etc.
They don't call it rebuilding for nothing.

I am a Texan fan and will always support the Texans, it doesn't mean that if I want to vent (which I never do, life is too short) that someone one this message board can tell me i'm being too negative or I need to chill out, what gives any of you the right. If someone posts something good about the Texans it is not someones job to scold them for posting positivity, it makes no sense to me.

By the way I bet all of you are not fans of the Cardinals, Browns, Saints, Lions, Packers, Titans, 49ers and have said something bad about one of these teams, they have had their struggles and their fans continue to take it so I say grow another layer of skin or crawl under a rock. Losing breeds losers and if we all continue to say let's just wait it out and accept being horrible what does that say? What will be the debate that keeps us coming back here? I am not trying to come off as angry or anything but everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how off base you think they are.

I absolutely agree with this post. Just because we come here and vent about a horrible product does not mean that we are going to jump ship or stop rooting for this team. The fact is that they stink right now, and some of us need to vent somewhere

Venting and ranting about yourself wearing a paper bag are two different things in my opinion.
