Under Review More Texans Bashing

1. Houston: Even five months after the fact, it is difficult to fathom that the Texans opted for Williams over Bush with the top selection. For all the rationalization the Houston brass has done, and for all the whispers that emanated from a management team about the inability to strike a contract agreement with Bush and agent Joel Segal, the Texans know in their hearts that was a contrived excuse. If the Texans made the call truly based on position, as former general manager Charley Casserly insisted last weekend in his new role as a CBS studio analyst, so be it. Whether we buy the logic or not doesn't matter. But if the pick were made today, not on April 29, the guess is that the "signability" myth would be out the window and Bush would be the Texans' starting tailback.

2. New Orleans: The Saints couldn't believe their good fortune the night before the draft, when word broke that the Texans were taking Williams, allowing Bush to fall into their laps. But if Bush was off the board, the guess is that the Saints would grab the man they intended to take all along, linebacker A.J. Hawk. Yeah, he was the choice over Williams until Bush slipped out of the top slot. The former Ohio State star, who subsequently went in the No. 5 slot to Green Bay, has struggled more than people anticipated, but scouts still feel Hawk will be a multiple Pro Bowl performer. And think about this: The Saints have either signed as free agents or traded for nine veteran linebackers since the end of the 2005 season.

Good read i dont agree with it but deep down i know its true.

I have said it before, but Mario could come out and dominate and Reggie could bust and the media would still be talking about us passing on Reggie.

What i hate is we here about Mario on ESPN not doing that great while playing several positions while you never hear about Hawk not doing so great.

The reason Texans are having a hard time is ..... We are only 5 yrs old and have not grown a Bush yet :tease: mmmmmmmmmmmm beer...:homer:

Totally agree. 140 total yards vs the browns is nothing. Heck, I gained 30 yards at my house against the Browns.

Williams will never earn respect no matter what he does. ESPN signed Bush for their commercials, and he will be treated as such.

Im sorry but I dont think Bush is as good as they say he is/ or gonna be + lets all be real we DONT need another Bush here in Texas. I mean you cant have another Gale Sayers/Barry Sanders/ OJ Simpson I just think it is REALLY dumb to say hes gonna be like them or even come close yes he will be good but then ******* NO!

So lets get this straight: Williams struggles in his first game, and he's a bust.
Hawk struggles in his first game, but he is still a future pro-bowl linebacker.

What!?

This is just more media bandwagon crap. I'm sorry i wasted my team even reading it :(

It sucks because I enjoy reading the sports/NFL news on ESPN, and it's going to be chalk full of this drivel for the next year or so. They'll talk about how much of a shock this was before next year's draft to remind you to watch their show because you never know what's going to happen, and remind you how smart their pundits are. They'll never spend as much time pimping Williams as they have spent lauding Bush, even if Williams ends up spearheading a Texans defense that takes us deep into the playoffs multiple times and Bush ends up being a 3rd down back. Sigh.

I really hope the Texans are a contender w/in these upcoming years so that all of this Williams vs. Bush talk will cease.

Lets just let this senario play out before we call it the wrong decision.

I'm trying to hold the company line man......... but they aren't making it easy by playing musical runningbacks.....

The thing is..... the next Gayle Sayers/BarrySanders/OJ Simpson may have been drafted in '05s sixth round for all we know.

Do not let the corporate media control your thoughts. We look like a bunch of lemmings or gossiping old ladies taking a break from a shopping rampage at Macy's in Manhattan. Everyone needs to calm the heck down by eating more healthy, drinking anti-oxidant rich drinks and watching less of the Golden Girls.

It ain't going to be easy, but together we can move mountains.

Face it... most in the press have trouble admitting they may have been wrong.

Look for the headlines in 2008 to read "Texans win Superbowl in spite of Mario Williams."
