When should we expect (key word) our 1st winning season?

Our first winning season will be in what year?

  • 2010 or later - This franchise is flawed at its core, and there is no hope in sight.

Working?
I don't mean when do you think we might have a slim chance, but when do you really expect it to happen? I'm talking 9-7 or better, not 8-8, which is neither a winning nor losing season :)

Winning is done on the lines. Kubiak drafted DE, LT, and our future RT, by all estimations. Next year, I expect he'll address the lines with another player, as well as the secondary. This offense can be good enough at QB, WR, and TE. If one of our current backs pans out, we're OK there. The team is really pretty weak on defense, however. It takes time to build personnel. A lot of the offense can be corrected by scheme.

Kubiak seems to have a plan in place and I think we'll see a winning season by 2008. Even better, I think we'll be on the path to long-term winning like Denver has seen these many years.

Key word "expect"

Well as fans we should expect to win now. I will chear for the team reguardless I will attend all home games and I will do my part by rooting for my team no matter what.
But I expect my team to win and win now!!!!

Give it another 2 years. Bring in the right FA's and draft for depth. Then we can hang with the big boys.

I'm drinking the koolaid with everclear and say we drafted 3 future pro bowlers this year . They will join AJ and Dunta ... and also you fill in the _ .
Next year I see them taking a CB and a OLB in the first three rounds . The fact that I'm banking on Mario being the real deal helps the 2007 picks hit the road running . Done 10-6 in 2007 .

As I have stated in the past, I'm not a believer in constantly rebuilding. We've been around enough to have a team. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. (frankly I'd be ticked if I were the owner.) After all this time and we still hear, "the Texans need an offensive line to protect Carr." And, "Carr hangs on to the ball too long."

I choose next year but it MIGHT be this year. I'm eager to see what happens in next years draft.

I'm hoping 2007. It would be too much to ask for this season, with a new system and staff and so many personel changes. Kubiak got off to a late start, so he didn't even get the benefit of a full off-season.

But next year we'll have a lot of players familiar with his system and will know what to expect, most of our staff will probably return, and we'll have another off-season of FA signings and a draft. I feel pretty opimistic that we'll see a much more confident team at this point next year.

I say 2008. I see the pieces of the puzzle coming togeather, but we are needing 3 huge key pieces to be filled. And they can only be filled via the draft. We need and IMHO, this order...

DB
RB
QB to start grooming to replace DC. That was tough to say right there for me.. But how many more years will he have left in his tank if he keeps getting knocked on his backside?

I said 2008. And even that's a maybe. Every team in the NFL is trying to improve, not just us. Nothing is for certain.

Nah, HomeBred I gotta disagree with you on this one.You got DB right but RB,QB is not a top prority at this point. We need people in the trenches, DT DEBTH,O-LINE DEBTH. Carr will have enough in the tank for next year but we should address that year after next. RB would be solid with the return of DD, but if we draft one, let's get a banger like OU's Peterson or Louisville's Bush. WR also would be one to watch. Groom a young reciever to take EM place once he's thru, cause Walter,Mathis,Lewis,Anderson are not legit #2 starters. Keep your eyes open for the kid from Georgia Tech, he's in the mold of AJ. I think his name Calvin Johnson(could be mistaken though).:twocents:

Next year you guys get a winning season no doubt. The Titans are the doormat in our division, and the Jags I believe you guys could beat if........IF you could keep the D line off Carr long enough to throw. You guys had a good draft this year (not including the Mario vs Bush things, lets not open the can of worms it happens to much around here).

Your new coach is a excellent pick up, if Dave Carr Can not get it going with him helping, then you may need a new Q.B. Having said that, I believe Carr is a good Q.B. when given the time to throw.

I believe you guys need a couple road grader line men, not big fat guys that can block only when they get to stand still, but guards that can pull and get up field and block on a screen or a sweep, reajust and pick up a blitz and generally just realize it's thier job to keep the Q.B. up right.

Carr gets a lot of flack for losing, I for one don't buy into that theory, guys got a cannon for a arm, good (needs a lil more tweeking) accuracy when he has time. I don't follow your team everygame, but if thier on yea I watch. It's the O line that needs to be addressed in the draft.

I am sure everyone watch us get our behinds kicked by the steelers last year, it only happened for 1 reason. Peyton :superman: had no time to throw the ball. He looked like crapola to say the least. But would I get rid of him because the line can't block a 90 year old woman using a walker.

Skillz postions on the O side of the ball you guys are 2nd best in our Division, (yea I being a homer lol) seriously though, you think if Dave had the Indy line he would look like he does now, no way.

I predicted next year as your first winning season, but I would love to see you guys get it this year (just no wins against the Colts), you guys deserve it, true and loyal. I have been in your shoes, yea my team was the equivilent of the NFL toliet paper for a long time. We got a great GM, he realized what we needed, got it and :yahoo: . You aint far from getting to where you want to be, here's to the Texans, a team had it been in any other division, would have been my 2nd favorite.:redtowel:

I hate to see us keep using our first pick of the drafts to get D Linemen. We have 3 already and they should be much better than they are playing. Time will tell.

But that is what is cool, we can sometimes agree that we disagree, LOL...

No more weapons, draft or trade for protection. OL is the biggest need and a few more highly motivated players on the OL will give us all the answers we will need to win.

Drob says players want nothing less than 9-7, 10-6 or even 11-5 (saw this on this week's Texans Huddle), he said all the players want a winning season not just for themselves but for fans too:yahoo:

Why no more weapons?

The way I look at it, and it is just me, we need the future also. If I have to go through these seasons like last year, I want some bread and butter down the road. I agree that somewhere, sometime, we will have to get someone to replace Moulds. These guys can't last forever.

I think if we could do 2 more great drafts like we just did, we will be where we want as fans. A killer team that people will repect instead of laugh at...

I still give Kubs an A for his first draft in the NFL...

To me getting more weapons on offense is like putting a 1000.00 dollar stereo in a 300.00 dollar car. Start with the basics first before adding all the glamour.

I know this may be off topic, actually its way off topic.

But does anyone remember ( I don't know who they were playing) when the Texans scored a touchdown and David Carr and I think it was McKinney went under the pad on the upright pole and pretended to pull out the cell phone(mocking Joe Horn). I just saw a video clip of Joe Horns cell phone thing and remembered it, but I was wondering if anyone had video of that? Thinking of it just makes me laugh. If anyone could help me that would be sweet. Thanks

Anyways back on topic, I think it will still take us a few years to get to a winning record. We still gotta add a few people to make this team better before we can even think about a winning record. Now that I think about it though, it could very easily be next year if our young defense comes along this year. There is no reason to not be able to have a winning record after next season.

We're hurt. I see the the glass half empty right now. Our personel is so bad
we're making mid season deals for mediocre FA running backs. At least two more drafts befor I go watching a game and expect the Texans to be truly competitive, and not just lucky. Agreed Underedog. We don't need WR's. Fix it from the inside out. Just bad luck this young o-line caught such a rough opening schedule. See if we get improvement from week one this game.

I think next season is when we'll have our first winning season. And hopefully that continues. However, if it by some miracle started this year, I wouldn't be mad
