.....for the Texans to be a better team? Maybe it is just me, but does anyone see a LEADER emerging on this team? I have not. I believe this team is different than last year. This team has a wealth of talent and a world of potential. But I don't see that one spark that ignites all of those things. If no one player steps up, we could be in for a lot more of what we saw when we played the Eagles.

This is only an observation but I would like to hear if I am missing something or is our team uninspired like I think they are.

There was a fairly recent Chronicle article that quotes Kubiak as saying that he was still waiting for a player to step up and lead the team. :(

In my ideal world, that player would be Carr, but I know better than to hold my breath.

Yeah, it ain't Carr. There has NEVER been a remote possibility of that. But I do think Kubiak is on to something and I also think some of the more veteran players are also aware......Moulds, Payne, or HEY, how about that awsome blocker Breuner I have heard some folks raving about?

pressure from our front four.

Pressure from our front four means more rushed passes..more rushed passes means more turnovers and 3 and outs.. more turnovers and 3 and outs means more time on the field for our offense. more time on the field for our offense means more chances to "click" and make something happen.

I agree. But the point is, which one of them is going to make it happen? They can all do it. I guess what I want to see is that one player that makes you remember the game for his contribution (i.e. Merrimen with 3 sacks in one game......you know he had everybody stoked!).

the offensive line aint broken. they played one of the best defensive lines in the league.. and at least 2 of the sacks can be blamed on poor pocket awareness by Carr (when he got blindsided a couple times when he COULD have stepped up into the pocket).

Thats why we got Williams. May not happen this year...if it does it PROBABLY wont happen till the second half.

Peek and Babin capable of that kind of production. Of our big guys.. I wouldnt put money on anyone but Mario being a real impact player in the pass rush. Though.. actually.. TJ has looked good, and by the second half of the season he MAY be our best Dlineman.

Yes Sir! At least his helmet came off twice in the game....see, I remembered it!

Well I can tell you I was at the game but it seemed to me that there was no respect shown to Carr. I was watching his interactions with his recievers on the bench and when he was trying to talk to them they were not even paying attention to him.:loser Maybe a little anomocity between them? I know he ended up sitting on the bench next to Daniels trying to explain something to him. Kinda like trying to see if someone would pay attention and listen to him. It seems to me that he is leading nothing.:crying:

If its not broken, its close. Thats still 3, I say atleast 4 but lets not have a debate, on the line. Maybe they will improve against lesser teams, but I want to compete against better teams, like the Eagles. I dont like my team looking like an expansion team. Or a team thats needs time to grow its players.

I am tired the arguements "give more time to Carr because of the o-line" or something of that nature. If it happens again with the line, then the arguement will be "Next years o-line will be better, and Carr showed flashes of progress when he wasnt getting sacked." Man, lets just trade for some players that show up throughout the season and wont get beat.

Defense wins games, so if the o-line is directly against it, dont you think they should atleast keep up?

But I'm just a :homer:

Thats interesting and the first I heard of something like that. But, do you have a link?;)

ahhh...the Carr Watch is back. That dedicated group of individuals who takes footage of Carr in games, compares it against thier favorite soap operas and reality TV shows like "The Real World", and informs the community of what is PROBABLY going on behind the scenes.

Carr rubbed his nose? he must be snorting lines to deal with the pressure.

Did Carr just dare to crack a smile when we werent winning a game? He must be taking bribes from Bud Adams to sabotage the team, that sly fox.

Did he say "we will get them next time" in an interview? Gasp! Shock! Disbelief! There are no next times! We live in the NOW! He should have beaten them today and this "beat them next time" mularky is for losers! If Carr had had a better attitude we could have won that game, but he knew that if he didnt beat them this week, he could beat them the next time he played them, and so he slacked off the entire game. That lazy good for nothing.

Did he adjust his jockstrap? Hes must be gay.

Keep up the good work guys.

No lets not just trade for some players.. our..line...is ...fine. They have done well so far and if you take away the two sacks (maybe more) that Carr could have prevented if he had stepped into the pocket like hes supposed to.. then we are talking about an oline with a rookie LT that only gave up 3 sacks to one of the best Dlines in the league. Is that awesome? no.. but it isnt bad either.. its middle of the pack, and middle of the pack is alot better than dead last. Now is not the time to throw out the line and start over.. they have shown obvious improvement..and alot of it.

The only way id agree that we should replace the line is if we could replace them with an entire line from a successful team.. like the Denver line or the KC line or the indi line :D

:challenge No there is no "Carr" watch. I would just wish that people would quit giving him the "golden boy" free pass. Being a quarterback means making good decisions in a short amount of time. Without poeple around him who support him making those decisions it might be time to look elsewhere........and yes there were crowd cheers for Rosenfels already from the fans.:survivor:

You are probably right. I am dreaming. I just need a quick fix. I am also tied of the DC thing and the only way I figure it can end that the O-line is phenominal like Denver, KC, and Indy. Carr has the recievers, so that is obviously the last variable so we can "accurately" judge him and hold him "accountable" as the the carr arguements go. I can only deal with one insane thing at a time, and the Reggie vs. Mario thing is never going away.

:shots: to make the pain go away...

The question " did anybody see a leader on this team". DeMeco Ryans. This kid is your Jeremiah Trotter.

Oh, he will bring it, but it might not be reflected in his play. What I see as a leader is a certain "air" in a player. I watch the Eagles a lot. The '' air" I see in Trotter and Dawkins I see in this kid. He, in time, will "will" the people around him to be better. That is what leaders do.

Its funny on defese we can name a lot of vocal/performance leaders like DeMeco and Dunta, and perhaps one day Mario and TJ.

But its offensive leadership we need. Once they get shut or knocked down, its hard for them to get back up. The possible leader there is Moulds and maybe Flanagan.(which is expected from veterans.) And they are gone in a couple of years.

After a couple of wins people will emerge.

...tried this against the Eagles and it failed miserably-4 on their 6 or 7 gave McNabb a 'field' day with 1 sack Weaver bumped into

And obviously, you wish they were Vince young cheers. Give it a rest! if the rest of the team had played like they could, it would have been a different outcome. This was their first real game together. Geez.... you people amaze me.....

The O line will have to play as if their mothers are locked in a basement. The Defense will have to get angry. Look at the oppositions O lines and use every means fair and unfair to slice through them like butter. Dick Butkus, Bubba Smith, Jack Pardee, Rosie Greer, Randy White, Deacon Jones Alex Karras and Merlin Olson weren't "nice". The were some of the meanest men to ever walk the grid iron. This Texans defense needs to do adopt the mentality that made those men great and play with a bruiser mentality.

A year of experience in the Kubiak system and Adrian Peterson - that will make us a better team. (another CB, OLB and S would be nice also)
Seriously, I think we go 1-8, due to new system and hard schedule. Then we could go 4-3 to finish the season - due to team figuring out the system and easier scheduling.

this is exactly what I was posting LAST year.
