Regular Season Sack Credit

For parity, how about a thread on who gets credit for sacks. Pretty easy to see if one player actually makes the tackle but let's see if we can review whether it was a solo performance of someone else contributed significantly to the sack. Hopefully (can't see how) this won't turn in to a Carr thread.

I solemnly swear that I will not be the one who converts this innocent thread into a hideous monster thread (which is a Carr thread). May intelligent and thoughtful posts fill this thread for months to come!

:thumbup :texflag:

Seeing how M. Williams is constantly getting (or has been getting ) double teamed there should be numerous occasions where a fellow lineman will pay dividends and reap the rewards for his play and freakish abilities.

If i were to say that carr deserves the credit AKA blame for getting sacked... that would easily turn this into a carr thread but im not gonna do that because i am a carr:homer: so i will just say the better carr does it will give our defense time to rest so they may have more energy to get sacks on D:hides: did i clean that up? GO TEXANS

But seriously i think that mario will be the reason for alot of our D LINE sacks even if he doesnt get many himself. I would like to see more of the peek and mario on the same side of the d line.

totally agree...could spell a lot of trouble with our rotation on the line and having a fresh legs in there constantly....peek and babin should come up huge this season as well as weaver and TJ. I dont expect mind boggling numbers to be put up by mario himself but his presence will be felt and known. Our linebackers should also thrive with his constant double teams....I look for Demeco to come out like a rabid bull and continue his outstanding play as he did at Bama.

PUTZier blocking or lack there of on Kearse

Then just better scemes by Philly got the sacks, I dont blame Carr for any of them this game.

i think mcnabb was responsible for his only sack. on dont give anyone of our d-linemen credit thats for sure. although babin did get pressure on a couple of occasions.

Yeah, I agree with that. What happened to the freaking pass rush in this game?

I could blame Carr for not reading the blitz coming , but that is a cat and mouse game... today I saw two of the sacks ..the eagles came with just too many men and other 2 Carr never saw what was cominig. the other one... I have to see the film again

I saw that McNabb's sack was in the fourth quarter, but I was out of the room. What happened?

Rememer in Indy last year when Carr went down on his own to avoid getting demolished by Frenney? He got blasted for that, McNabb slides and its a "smart play"....
In something acctualy relevant to this thread, I have no idea who to give the credit to for that sack...

What he said and on the film - I want to see if Carr tripped - or was tripped as it looked like his foot was held and thus why he fell down, but I only got one look at it with no Tivo and fox didnt replay it.

Dude, there were 5 Eagles sacks. Apparently you missed more of them than you saw...

LOL.

2 + 2 + 1 = 5

Don't take this personally, but learn to read next time before criticizing someones ability to count.

__I say if we (the Texan) ever get all the linesmen to play more than 50 or 60 snaps togather (Players hurt) then they will improve.....the defense is coming along and will be much better next year.....again there alot of players hurts....

No names are mentioned but its pretty clear who he is referring too dunta might be one of the only few players in the texans that can get away with that comment. its not like they are going to cut him like they did gary walker.

Troy Aikman nor John Elway nor many other great quarterbacks have put the blame on their offensive lines for lack of protection when it was obvious their respective teams were struggling in protecting these quarterbacks. These guys are hall of famers because they were difference makers for their respective teams even under adverse conditions... and rose above potential failure because they took it upon themselves to find ways of helping their teams win despite their teams' weaknesses. Keep making the excuses for David Carr and that will allow him to keep making all those same excuses for himself about his poor play. When he takes the snap, count how many seconds he holds the ball for. Watch his head and see if he goes through his progressions quickly or just stares down a receiver. Watch his footwork in the pocket and whether or not he senses the pressure and knows where he needs to move to avoid it. Check out the ratings on Peyton Manning's offensive line... not all Pro Bowl material and Peyton's not fleet of foot... yet he manages to adjust to pocket pressure and put the ball in the right place the majority of the time. Is he a freak of nature? Not really. He just has a great understanding of the game itself and how it should be played if you want to be successful. He's got a great arm but more importantly he's got a great head on his shoulders. I couldn't process a tenth as good as he does... but it's what all the great quarterbacks have the ability to do. Wait until they get Vince Young some receivers in Tennessee. He's very accurate and his decision making going to get better and better... and let's see... how many games has he started in the NFL? You know what's so special about Vince? Not his strong arm, his unbelievably fast elusive feet, but his undaunted confidence and his relentless work ethic. I say we've got a better overall team than the Titans and yet they're 7-7 and we're 4-10 because of having an obvious difference maker at the helm. It's embarrassing that we lost both games to the Titans and yet, you can ask all my friends and family. I predicted it would go down that way before the season ever started. I, for one, don't want to say anything more about this because of the bad taste it leaves in my mouth.

Carr is toast. What I heard was him blaming himself in the interveiws. You got a link that's different form that I'd like to see it ?
The cadaver is stone cold dead on the slab. Been gutted and drained. Does no good to poke at it now.
