Is it just I, or is this place getting wackier the closer it gets to Sunday?

It seems to me the threads are getting more intense, more hostile and everyone is on edge. So much is riding on this first game because it might set the tempo for the year. The Eagles want another SB run, the Texans want a win to build on. I know some people want Carr and Mario to succeed, and others them both to fail. Everyone is anxious for the season to start and the nervousness is showing up here.

Come on Sunday! Go Texans!:fans:

First game of the season, I'm still trying to see things with an objective eye. The desire for us to win may get the best of me eventually. :crying:

I didn't know that anybody wanted Carr and Williams to fail. I hope they have a great season and I hope the Texans have at least a 8-8 record.

Cannot wait for Sunday to get here. It is driving me insane.

Same.

Ive tried to be as non partial in my predictions and judgements...but this damn offseason took forever to go by. Im ready for some football. Last night I watched the game...although with DVR...I think I watched it about 5 times rewinding plays, and fast forwarding commercials.

Im just so amped up that the season is here my judgement is probably a little clouded.

its not driving me as insane as it would had there not been UT / ohio state to hold me off.

This could either be a very good weekend or a very bad weekend. First UT OSU, then Texans Eagles....here's to some good football and some good luck

D. B. Cooper, aka Dan Cooper, is a pseudonym given to a notorious aircraft hijacker who in 1971, after receiving a ransom payout of $200,000, leapt from the back of a Boeing 727 as it was flying over the Pacific Northwest. No conclusive evidence has ever surfaced regarding Cooper's whereabouts, and several theories offer competing explanations of what happened after his famed jump. The only clues to have turned up in the case are ambiguous: around $5,000 that washed up on the banks of the Columbia River, and part of a sign believed to be from the rear stairway of the plane from which Cooper jumped. The nature of Cooper's escape and the uncertainty of his fate continue to intrigue people. Today, the Cooper case remains the world's only unsolved hijacking.

Don't fool yourselves... there are a few petty people around who'd like nothing more than Mario and/or DC to fail.

Unfortunate but true...

Nope--he pops up all over. The movie Without A Paddle is about looking for his money. Kid Rock's Bawitaba has a lyric--DB Cooper and the money he took. He's a sneaky reference all over.

SWT, where you been buddy? I would have denied you access to the event in that getup.

Our cheerleaders are a special breed, that is for sure.

In fairness to me.

I was ATTEMPTING to come in my battle red andre jersey, which if you go to the thread i started in tailgate was pictured. However, shoe coordination issues arose, so I let him borrow the Andre and went to the Vince at the last minute so we would all have the proper jordan's on. Had I had my way I would have been wearing the Battle Red Andre, but you go with the flow.

yep, it's football season!!!! :wild:

Seeing real season football last night was nice, and really brought it home. Next to the first season, this is definitely the longest off-season in our short history. Fortunately, it led to our best pre-season to date, which hopefully is a sign of things to come.

LOUD, PROUD, & TEXAN!! :texflag:

It is the singularly least appropriate thing to wear to a Texans event. Shoe coordination?????

I present to you this badge:

Which I am sure you will wear proudly. Some people crave attention of all sorts, even if it is the negative variety.

I'm sorry KT, I forgot to add IMO.
I should always remember to add that, otherwise the context police show up with their calipers trying to measure intangibles...

I don't think you quite grasp the gravity of the situation TC... he had to have the "proper Jordan's" on...

We're just amped up for Football season. This week has actually been pretty tame when it comes to Eagles fans. We just don't really have much, if any, animosity towards the Texans.

We have to be better than the Jags fans, at least! I hope... I've heard stories about them.

And when there are so many Texans "fans" feeding on each other, why not just stand back and watch the show?

It's only tame because I've launched a bunch of you and we have deleted your (Eagle fans...not you specifically) troll stuff as soon as it has popped up.

I can't speak for others on this MB, but I don't have a problem with any teams fans. I can't stand the Cowboys and Titans as organizations, but the fans of the NFL that I've conversed with over time seem like normal people that love thier hometown teams.:redtowel:

Yeah its been kinda bad since Game3 of preseason when Denver's D looked dominant over our offense. I am not a big believer in David Carr but in no way do I want him to fail. I hope Carr finally has his coming out year and I hope that Mario looks like the anchor for our defense for the next decade (with DeMeco).

As sad as it is, I am inclined to agree with you. There are frequent message board visitors who have issues with Carr's play and voice their concerns in an intelligent fashion. There are others who can't seem to post anything more coherent than "Carr sucks and I want him gone" or similar. It's unfortunate, as you say.

Here's to a win on Sunday, no matter who does what!

Same here. I forgot to put my clothes on before I came to work. I was escorted home to find an outfit to put on. I found a big, green Eagles diaper to put on. Hey, I didn't know they had computers in this rubbery room.:francis:

It's good you have one, because the "football fashion police" at a "Texans" event, are after you........VY jersey??? Who would ever get to your feet? :yikes: LOL

Bad Texans fan! That is about as high of disrespect you could give to Bob McNair (and the fanbase) AT A TEXANS EVENT. You may claim the first amendment, but not necessarily some common sense. One of them cheerleaders should have whooped you with a pom pom.

Only thing that can save your cred is if you claim your metrosexual status and become the Fashionista Eye for the Texans Guy.

Don't think that will work either, but it would give a much better weakarse excuse.

I think it is more akin to Christmas Eve, you know there are presents for you under that tree. You can't sleep for thinking about them, you imagine and wonder what exactly is in those wrapped presents. You hope it is what you want something exciting, although your mom reminds you of fact not all toys (BOOOO). September 10th 12 noon will be Christmas Day for Texans fans:yahoo:

I've never in my 45 years of watching this game, er...the Baltimore Colt's Allen Amechie slipping over the goal line against the New York Football Giants, I believe, so much venom leveled at a franchise for passing up a player befor. Mind boggeling. You'd think after six months they'd be over it. McNabb/Williams was nothing like this. In every quarter of the press we're being bombed...still. They love Reggie.

Yeah well Eagles start slow and Spencer is the real Deal. About bloody time we found a OLT. Might be enough. Upset the Eagles, and I do pull for them, we got a chance at a decent season is all I know. We lose the season's gonna be a bear. Just wondering how long we can stay under everyones radar ?

Disappointing players will yield disappointed fans....I've seen it happen all over the NFL with fans since I've followed the league from around 1970. Doesn't shock me one bit.

It is OK to be a VY fan, but not pimping it at a Texans event. Kinda like a slap in the face, dontcha think? After all the mess with the draft?

To each his own, I think it is in bad taste.
