That question has crossed my mind as well. I know Gaffney was the emergency QB, but he is gone. Maybe they should consider someone like Owen Daniels, and start getting him some snaps in practice at some point. He actually has ideal height, and is a former QB, so he would make sense to me. Fortunetly, it's highly doubtful that both QB's would be badly injured in the same game, but it's not out of the realm of possibility either. Good question Wolf!

I have to agree with the Daniels pick. Does anyone know why he was not qualified to be a QB in the big leagues? My guess would be arm strength, but that's not based on anything. Even so, he could possibly come in and manage a game still.

Oh yeah, Tony Banks starts the game against Atlanta, Dave Ragone doesn't dress (If I remember correctly) and the Texans are forced to put David Carr and his bum shoulder in when Tony breaks his hand.

I think it would almost go without saying that an emergency QB is a necessity. Daniels sounds like a plan to me.

Go Texans!

Jason Simmons could do it.

Here's some of his bio from the Texans' website:

"...played cornerback and quarterback…also voted to Long Beach Press-Telegram’s “Best of the West” squad…earned MVP honors after throwing for 950 yards with 10 TDs and 713 rushing yards with eight TDs his senior year..."

stanley comes to mind and don't know why.
Because he played HS QB--there are a bunch of guys including Stanley and Kris Brown who played HS QB. Wouldn't be pretty but they can probably manage to hand the ball off.

This thread brings to mind the time when Jose Conseco was brought in to pitch the final inning of play for the Rangers in the early 90's. :wild:

Lord forbid we have both Qbs go down in 1 game, then ESPN will bring up the whole passing on Reggie Bush deal, and how he woulda been a great QB for us too since he can do everything else.

The Jets had Pennington and Fiedler go down in the same game last year I think, something like two plays apart. So it is possible but rare.

David Carr.

...but seriously:

We have this guy on the team, he knows the playbook in and out and has shown that he can play well enough to win if he has to. He's won two rings and never would have played QB because he was backing up a Hall Of Fame QB.

THAT would be a hoot if Kubiak put on the hardware and went out to toss the ol' pigskin...

I remember a game, oh, probably within a couple years of 1981 where every QB the Bears had on the roster was injured, so Walter Payton started one game at QB. Until that point, every NFL pass he had thrown had been completed for a touchdown--four HB option passes.

That game, btw, was a complete disaster for the Bears.

Just wanted to update the thread, and oh by the way, give myself a little pat on the snout for my wonderful analysis. :redtowel:

From todays Chronicle

Because the Texans are carrying only two quarterbacks on their roster, David Carr and Sage Rosenfels, they will be in trouble if both are forced to leave games because of injuries.

"Oh, I don't want to think about that," coach Gary Kubiak said after practice Thursday. "But if something like that did happen, Owen ( Daniels) would be the emergency quarterback. Either him or me."

Daniels, the fourth-round pick who will start at tight end against the Eagles, played quarterback in high school and early in his college career at Wisconsin.

Reggie as I see it doesn't have much more than a quarter of a back in him..........so that would make sense. :backsout:
