Our first 5 games to me are the most important of the season. I think if we can win at least 2 of the first four. Then going into Texas Stadium we are going to be pumped up to play them. This to me is going to decide which way our season goes. If we win we are in for a good season if we lose....not so much.

Luckily our season gets easier after the Giants game so if we're behind it can be made up. I just hope our young guys hold it together until then.

Sep 10 Philadelphia..We kick the snot out of philly happy birthday to me :yahoo:

I'm saying 6-10. If we beat Philly and continue to play well it could be 7-9. There are a lot of later games I'm not sure about Buffalo, Oakland, NY Jets, Giants, even Cleveland will depend upon how injured the teams are and which teams are trying to make the playoffs.

I came up with about 9-7/8-8 with the Philadelphia game really being able to go either way depending on if we step up or not and play our best.

If the fans are in their seats by game time 11-5

If the fans don't make to their seats until after game time 6-10

If I look at the past four years I guess its 6-10

I am told the players are pros- They should be able to perform with or without the fans- I say they are human and will step it up a notch with fan support--example The Dallas game. Anyone who attended will have to admit the excitement was incredible.

Shame on me for even suggesting the Houston Fans may be a weekness of this franchise. I have been going to games for four years and most games I look around the stadium at game time and it appears to be less than half full.

We have a new coach who has moulded a real good team. Fans, lets do our part and show the team we are 100% behind them by making it to the game before it starts.

Heart says: 10-6
This team will be far better than last year's debacle.

Head says: 6-10
Brutal schedule. At least we play the Tacks twice.

I voted 7-9 but I won't be too surprised if my heart wins this one. This team looks far more confident, poised and game-ready than I've ever seen them at the start of a season.

I voted for 10 or more, because we won 2 and lost 6-7 for a variety of reasons in 2005. this preseason has shown what most experts know, 1) a solid defense will help your offense 2) will keep games close. Texans defense even in fourth quarter looked AWESOME!!!

Also I fall back on 2003-04 San Diego Chargers

2003 4-12-0
2004 12-4-0

SAME Coach, Same QB, only difference Antonio Gates @ TE, to this I say Kubiak is a better coach than Schottenheimer, David Carr is our QB and Jeb Putzier@ TE...WOOHOO lets see who we get in 1st round of playoffs:francis: :francis:

That wasn't what pushed them over the top, it was the D they picked up. Remember a little kid they got named Merriman?

I have to stay with my earlier prediction of 4/12. Don't hate me for it, I want to be made fun of and proven wrong for sure...

I was at 6-10 coming into the pre-season games. I am going to bump that up to 7-9 based on the apparent improvement of the defense, and the running game. The only thing holding us back from 8-8 or better is the QB play imo. Unless Carr suddenly does his best imitation of a real NFL QB, I just cannot see us doing better than 7-9.

I just hope you guys aren't going to feel crushed by having such lofty expectation.

We have improved, but if you think we're not still capable of losing to bad and average teams, that is a big mistake.

I think we're looking at a 5 or 6 win team. I don't think 8 wins is realistic, and I especially don't think a winning season is going to happen. Maybe in two years.

I say 7-9. After the Giants game there is a chance for us to win 5 in a row. But we will have to be firing on all cylinders for that to happen.

hate to burst your bubble, BUT He was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft and I quote "Remember a little kid named Merriman". They had already hit 12-4 WITHOUT Merriman:yahoo:

You are correct. My bad. Thanks for the correction...

Sep 10 Philadelphia 1:00pm win 24-20
Sep 17 @Indianapolis 1:00pm loss 35-21
Sep 24 Washington 1:00pm win 21-20
Oct 1 Miami 1:00pm loss 14-10
Week 5 BYE
Oct 15 @Dallas 1:00pm loss 21-10
Oct 22 Jacksonville 1:00pm win 35-10
Oct 29 @Tennessee 1:00pm win 28-3
Nov 5 @N.Y. Giants 1:00pm loss 28-10
Nov 12 @Jacksonville 1:00pm loss 20-10
Nov 19 Buffalo 1:00pm win 28-6
Nov 26 @N.Y. Jets 1:00pm win 21-14
Dec 3 @Oakland 4:05pm win 35-10
Dec 10 Tennessee 1:00pm win 21-3
Dec 17 @New England 1:00pm loss 28-24
Dec 24 Indianapolis 1:00pm win 35-34 (eek one by...everyone talks about how great ourt team is getting)
Dec 31 Cleveland 1:00pm win 28-21

I voted 8-8. But when I did this I couldn't rule out 10-6. Playoffs? Hahhahahah...maybe not. Also I dont wish this on anyone but if some teams in our division get some key injuries *cough*manning*cough* then I think our division could be very winable. But I will settle for 8-8 if that is all we can muster.

9-7. I predicted 10-6 a few weeks ago, but I also included a winning streak of 4 games, and two others of 3 games which I don't think will happen. At worst, I think we'll be 6-10.

Philadelphia W
@Indianapolis L
Washington W
Miami L
@Dallas L
Jacksonville W
@Tennessee W
@N.Y. Giants L
@Jacksonville L
Buffalo W
@N.Y. Jets W
@Oakland L
Tennessee W
@New England L
Indianapolis L
Cleveland W

That makes them 8-8. 2-6 on the road, 6-2 at home.

I voted 7-9. I don't want to be too optimistic, but I also don't think it's unreasonable that the Texans could be .500 or better.

My :homer: says:

Philadelphia W
@Indianapolis L
Washington W
Miami W
@Dallas W
Jacksonville W
@Tennessee W
@N.Y. Giants L
@Jacksonville L
Buffalo W
@N.Y. Jets L
@Oakland W
Tennessee W
@New England L
Indianapolis W
Cleveland W

My mind says:

Philadelphia L
@Indianapolis L
Washington W
Miami W
@Dallas L
Jacksonville W
@Tennessee W
@N.Y. Giants L
@Jacksonville L
Buffalo W
@N.Y. Jets L
@Oakland W
Tennessee W
@New England L
Indianapolis L
Cleveland W

For me I guess is best case, 11-5 ...
If the wheels fall off, 8-8.

Hopefully this under promising will result in the Texans over delivering. I'm w/ you on the 7-9; 8-8 would be even better IMO. Go Texans!!!!

6-10
Wins: Tenn., Jax., Buff., NYJ, Oak., Clev.
Losses: Philly, Indy (x2), Wash, Miami, Dallas (it kills me to type that), Jax. NYG, New Eng., Tenn.

The start of our schedule is brutal, I think 0-5 is a real possibility. If we get off to a slow start I
hope things don’t snowball.

Overall I would be real pleased with 8-8.

With DD out and Carr looking like he does. No more than five wins. I hope I'm wrong but I don't even think we have a chance to win five. I think DD being out is going to hurt our game more than anybody wants to believe. Lundy and Morency have looked great but it's preseason. Come next sunday it's going to be a lot tougher. We have no running threat to open up passing game (other teams aren't worried about our rookie and 2nd yr running backs), and no passing threat to open up running game. The only thing that will help out is if by some miracle the line can hold long enough for Carr to quit panickin every freakin time he drops back. I hope I'm completely wrong but I'm expecting a last year replay. There were a few games we should have won last year so if we play just a little bit better maybe the season won't be so bad.

I voted for 7-9. I believe next year will be our breakthrough year. What I'm looking for is a strong December. If we can beat New England on the road in the cold with a young team, the tough schedule at the beginning of the year will be a distant memory. Plus, we'll be a playoff team next year.

I voted 6-10. Our 1st string offense didn't overly impress me as a unit and defensively our 1st string defense did look good at times but their are holes (yes I know we played vanilla so with that i have hope that more than 6 wins are in order if we gel on learning the new system).. However it was the depth of our team that impressed me. 2nd and 3rd teams in the 3 of 4 games I saw did more than hold their own against the chiefs,rams and broncos.. (didn't get to see TB game)

Offensive line looked improved.defenseive 7 looked more than improved.(it better). I guess the thread "hold your horses" got me thinking and diluted my Kool aid a bit.

http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zone/messageboards/showthread.php?t=26871&highlight=Hold+horses

I see eight games we SHOULD win. So 8-8. If we could somehow beat the eagles right off the bat it would do wonders for the team.

as stated in another thread, i say we go 6-10 and lose a fair amount of "heartbreakers". we'll be in a lot of games this year.

This is the funniest thing I've ever seen! Now for a logical rundown:

Sep 10 Philadelphia - Not good enough on offense, not good enough on defense - Loss

Sep 17 @Indianapolis Lose a blowout. Never touch Manning - Loss

Sep 24 Washington - Close because Washington's offense is terrible. But you never move the ball on their D - Loss

Oct 1 Miami - Any team with potential over 8-8 is better than the Texans - Loss

Week 5 BYE

Oct 15 @Dallas - Don't think Dallas is as good as most would think, but still is better than Houston - Loss

Oct 22 Jacksonville - Sheer talent will win over - Loss

Oct 29 @Tennessee - An equally bad team, but more of a toss-up. I'll be nice - Win (Parade in the streets)

Nov 5 @N.Y. Giants - Awful lO-line can stop a good D-line - Loss

Nov 12 @Jacksonville - See explanation above - Loss

Nov 19 Buffalo - Another equally bad team at home - Win

Nov 26 @N.Y. Jets - Big toss up - Better QB wins - Win

Dec 3 @Oakland - Yet another equally bad team, but on the road - Loss

Dec 10 Tennessee - Win.

Dec 17 @New England - Get real. They've taken a step back, but not THAT far back - Loss

Dec 24 Indianapolis - You're still 3-4 years away from even belonging on the same field with them - Loss

Dec 31 Cleveland - Far better than most think, but still not good. Another toss-up, but at home - Win

5 wins is what you can expect this year. Nothing more. You're getting better, but still not ready to sit at the grown folks table.
