Did Chris Taylor Do Enough

I'd keep all four of them. If one had to go I'd keep Morency, Lundy, and Taylor. I'd have to waive Smith.

Ideally though I'd hang on to the four of them and only carry two QB's with another one on the practice squad.

i'm pretty sure we're going to keep all 4. whether taylor is on the 53, or is put on the practice squad is probably the biggest question at this point. i personally am not sold on smith though.

I hope they keep all four of them. Not sure if it's the system, talent, or combination of both working together, but our running game has looked great in these pre-season games. Hope it's a sign of things to come!

Smith is the only defined "Clidesdale" in the group........and he showed us he has enough gas and power to break a long one.......against 2nd team or not. It would be a mistake to get rid of him. With our system we will keep 4 horsemen.

Ding, ding, ding.....I suspect that this is the winner.

I think both will make the team. We have to also look at the fact that all preseason no one other than Taylor was on special teams returning punts. Lundy did it alittle in the first game other than that, that's it. I see the texans doing just like Denver in only having two QB's on the team, putting D. Davis on IR. That free's two Roster posts to keep 4 running backs and maybe 4 Tight Ends. Don't know if Bruener made the squad yet.

Phillip Buchanon--5 punt returns, 2 fair catches, 18.4 yards average return.

Damien Rhodes and Wali Lundy have Kick off returns...But Taylor does have the most....

Yeah, I said Lundy saw alot of action back there in his first game, but other than than that nothing extensive, Rhodes did see time but was ineffective. With this being the last cut, I think Taylor will make it because he has something to offer on special teams. Antoine doesn't. That doesn't mean he won't be on the team though.

Yeah....But I think we will keep all four of our backs....I think DD will be on IR...and then retire or something...

I believe the same. Indications are they will sit down with Domanick and either IR him or buy him out. He said last night it was the same knee they worked on in college, it's almost bone to bone and I frankly think Domanick is scared to take a hit on that knee which is understandable. The knee is going to always be sore, the knee is going to always give him problems.

IMO, if we don't pick up another RB over the next week, we'll keep 3 on the 53 and have either Smith or Taylor on the PS.

Smith is a nine year vet...I don't think he is PS eligible

Smith isn't eligible and Taylor won't make it thru Waiver's someone will pick him up.

OK, that sums that up:cool:

It depends on who the Broncos let go.:bananasplit:

Do you mean running back wise ? or who they let go period ?

Mainly offense. I heard something yesterday that if VanPelt is let go, we'd pick him up. Might not be much truth to it but it sounded interesting. At least if we picked players up from the Broncs, they'd already be familiar with the offense for the most part.:shades:

It just may come down to practicality. Smith is a quality veteran that has shown he can handle the job, but he is older. Taylor has shown some good qualities but is very raw. You can't keep everyone so somebody needs to be cut. What you are looking at is cutting a veteran who will more than likely be the 3rd guy, he'd be 4th if DD were playing. If we cut him, then some other might pick him up for the duration of the season to fill a void left by someone with an injury. Taylor on the other hand has some upside and would like be put on someones practice squad (if he qualifies) or some other team with a longer contract because of his youth. I's stay with Taylor instead of Smith just for that reason.

I say keep Smith.
He is a vet, he knows what it takes to play in this league, and he is the only pounding back on this roster. I also think as a mentor, Smith is going to be more sincere when acting out the leadership role then lets say, “I’m loosing my starting role” Davis. When communicating, Lundy and Morency, are going to be very competitive so you need that buffer to keep things cool. Smith will bring that to this team. I think that Taylor will get picked up extremely fast, but that is a good thing. I say we stick with Smith and make DD play this year.

I think running back is one of the few positions in the NFL where rookies can thrive without veteran leadership, thus that is why I think Smith is expendable.

That is a good point. The learning curve for running backs are very minimal compared to the majority of other positions. When will they notify everyone of the cuts and I wonder how many they will cut today. We have 75 now and the opening day Roster has to be 53, but we are planning on adding to a few postions so how many will they cut?
