Sports Illustrated predicts us to go 3-13

looks like they didnt have time to really look into the changes we've made. it's too bad, though not at all surprising. i mean we've probably got 2 wins just from the titans, so i dont see how 3 wins total is even close to realistic.

Until proven otherwise there is no reason for the national media to hold the Texans in a high regard. We know the changes we've made and we're a better team but it all comes down to how we perform on the field. And until we can show consistently that we are a better team, don't expect the media to show us in a better light. I frankly don't care what some magazine "predicts". I think we have a shot at winning 6 to 7 games simply based on the improved team and improved coaching.

I think that we will prove that we are a better team, but we have a lot of gelling to do and it is not going to happen overnight. I think that we will be better, but three wins should be reachable by the 10th week.

I haven't read nor have I cared what SI has published since they treated the Rockets so badly after winning thier first of the two championships in the mid 90's.:brickwall

We're underdogs, so I don't expect much love from the national media. You earn respect in the NFL, and 2-14 is a sure fire way to be quickly disrespected. No big deal. I look forward to the Texans proving everyone wrong this season.

There is nothing in that link about overall record...and the fact they claim DD will be the main beneficiery of the zone blocking system shows you how up to date they are on our team.

Said the same in another article here - I feel like you; To this day I wont buy or read their product - its nothing but Media/East coast biased crap IMHO.

the sports betting world got us at 5.5 wins. Until proven otherwise, we are probably a 5-6 win team. 3-13 is not a reach, but they will be wrong.

Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio said 4-12 and 5-11, I emailed them and said you want to make a bet for charity, I told them the Texans will easily win more games than 5. I also asked how they knew was daylight, (they keep referencing Dallas as a Super Bowl team) I said you must have your head up your A - - if you think Texans won't win more than 4 or 5 and Cowpatties going to Super Bowl:redtowel:

If you can get a bet in with them I'd like to join in the pot lol :jk:

I will garentee 5, even 6 wins, I think we'll get our best record ever as a franchise so that means atleast .500 :redtowel: Denver's game really grew my confidence in the team and defense especially.

Well, they are picking us to be the worse team in the NFL again, which means #1 pick...other posters are correct IMO when they say we have to earn respect before we get any kudos. Predicters concede we may play/perform better but have too much work to get done before we are a threat in the standings.

I know we have a lot of enthusiasm going into our 5th year but-just as posters are saying this is Carr's 'real' first year-if that is true for Carr, then it's true for the entire team. If your'e one of those posters saying 'give Carr' this year to learn the system, how can you expect us to have a winning record with our QB in 'learning' mode?

As Kubiak has said many times, the team is going to go as far as Carr 'takes' it--as Carr goes, the team goes. In other words, we can't have it both ways-mediocre QB play will not translate into wins.

IMO, the challenge for Kubiak will be to keep the players focused and motivated, something Capers was not able to do last year. However, IMO, it will be a 'big' mistake if Kubiak does not 'press' forward--despite anything else--with his agenda/playbook/philosophy. If this is going to be a 'learning' year for better seasons to come, then every player on the team needs to be committed to learning/improving/excelling. Even in losing, this season is crucial...:twocents:

Dolphins in the SuperBowl? The entire NFC East at 9-7? I think the chance of theose things happening are somewhere around absoulute zero. Much like the chances of me spelling every word in a sentece corectly

Au contraire. The "changes" are exactly why they are expected to go 3-13 in the first place.

i dont see that much of a difference between those "predictions" and last yrs final records. what a joke. i can come up with better predictions than that.

all i need to say is: "remember the 2004 chargers"...

:homer:
my thoughts exactly.

The 9-7 thing in the NFC East almost sold it for me to laugh... then I saw that they had the Cowboys going to the playoffs.

:gathering: :soapbox:  :slap:
As much as dislike the cowboys, I think they have a good team and it will not surprise me at all if they make the playoffs.

I was about to say pretty much the same thing until I read your post. I can't stand Dallas, but they do have one hell of a defense this year. If their offense can score some points, I can easily see them in the playoffs, and possibly winning their division.

If they predicted us to win 9 games, the majority of the uninformed public would think they were crazy. They have to play stupid too--although, I get the feeling it's not very hard for them.

I like the Dolphins, but I don't think there's any way they'll make the Super Bowl in Nick Saban's second year. I wonder if the 6 game winning streak to end the season last year has them overhyped this year. The entire NFC East going 9-7 is dumb. That division is too good, even if it is the toughest, to have no teams not even win 10 games.

Good as in good for nothing O-Line of theirs couldn't stop a breeze, they are having a prayer vigil that Terry Glenn lasts whole season (last year 1st time without an injury ending his season). Their defense is looking good against 49ers and Aints....LOL I could look good against those 2 teams, Dallas will have about as much chance of making playoffs as I do of being stalked by a supermodel (NOT!!!).

This same BS is what they ran out last year and except for some luck, they go 5-11 in 2005 instead of 9-7:brickwall

Texans will see a Super Bowl BEFORE Cowpatties do

This article and the statement that we will be the worst team in the NFL again does have a silver lining - Brady Quin. Quin will be the Number 1 pick in 2007 and he wil be NFL ready. So if 2006 is as bad as all this, I hope we pick the right man again.

if we have another high pick next year, I would love to see OU's Adrian Peterson get picked by us...as long as he is healthy.

I think Plummers' contract is up this year so he might be available, especially considering they are going to want the rook over there to be heading the offense.

Adrian Peterson would be a nice consolation but I still hope we fall out of the top 10 this year.

Well, we are the worst team until we prove otherwise. Having said that, as a writer it sure looks like he did zero analysis of what we MIGHT be.

This whole thing is ridiculous. Look, I understand we have a lot to prove, but how much more biased can Sports Illustrated be? I mean they have the Raiders, 49ers, AND Saints winning more games than us?!? WTF? I mean they even rank the Vikings and Browns higher than this. I mean come on! We are not the only team with a new coaching staff, yet teams undergoing the same changes are predicted to be better than the Texans? The Jets are terrible and have new coaching and are predicted to be better than us. This is absolute garbage. I'm with McNair. I do believe this is the year we finally start doing something. I just think all of the media totally forgets the progress we made in our first three seasons. Last year was a fluke. A fluke due to an entire meltdown of our team and coaching staff. Dom Capers was not the guy for the job and he and Casserly helped run our team into the ground. I predict at least 6 or 7 wins and believe if Mario, Demeco, and Dunta all prove what they can do, our D is going to be fantastic and possibly one of the better defenses in the league.

i hope, and believe, that we will win at least 6 games, but hey. i would rather see a lot of improvement in our team. if we go 3-13, but there is a noticable change in our team for the better, then i will be happy. Weirder things have happened than blowing games, yet still improving.

Are thay nuts!!!!

They past 2 years we lost alot of close games with poor play calling. this year we win 7 if we win 1. I may be disillusioned but the voices n my head agree...We're going 9-7 this year:whip:

That's a 50 % increase in wins over last year. Doesn't that sound like a big
improvement ?

You could also look at it based on losses. Going from 14 losses to 13 is less than a 10% improvement.
