2006 NFL Draft - Draft Analysis

NFL Draft Media Veterans Bill Chachkes, Eric Strauss, and Matt Shapiro talk about the 2006 NFL Draft with SBS CEO Zennie Abraham -- 26:53 minutes long

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxSIkGdOkJk

(MY COMMENTS on the vid follow): After listening to the video....I like Bill Chachkes comments best. But Eric and Matt are anti-Mario. Eric makes the most contradictory comment. "I think Bush would be a good fit on the Texans because they already have Domanick Davis...you could pick up a good pass rusher later in the draft."

Hmmmm. Interesting....So, if Bush was soooo "great" why pair him with DD? Also, while it's true that you could pick up a "good" DE later in the draft or FA. That's only if you think that Mario is just a "good DE" and nothing more.

Reading comments from other teams for the last few weeks. The most overly used statements regarding Mario goes something like this..."Sure, Williams will be good and maybe get 10 sacks a year or so....But he wont be better than Bush."

See, they give Mario the benifit of the doubt. But only so far. They *never* want to say that he'll be better than Bush. It's too hard for them to say that *now.*

Man those are posers..were are the wifebeater T's and the spikes.
Remember the Raiders chose a gangster kicker in the first round...heck their oline is now in worst shape as ours was under Palmer and Company.

I guess if Chingo can get a video of a Taco Stand pimped on the net so can, the :mario: haters.
If anyones knows a bust it's RaiderNation <sarcassum>.
They'll be picking first next season, let's see how they take care of Quinn.

cool pick  I also beleive in the long term Mario will turn out to be the best pick of the three and a Texan his entire NFL career :twocents:

Lets face it they will not ever change their mind we made all of them look bad on draft day. They were so set that we would draft Bush that when we draft Houston version of the freak they all decided to bash the Texans. Besides the only time they talk Houston sports, even espn, is to bad mouth us Texans, Astros, Rockets, it wont change so I say to h*** with them we don't need them to jump on our bandwagon. Let them praise the Redsox, Yankees, Colts, Cowboys, Lakers and Heat we don't need them.

Who are these guys?

Here's an idea. I've got a camera. Why don't some of us get together and tape a segment where we trash other teams draft choices. Then, we can put in on the internet and people can make fun of us. Who's up for that?

The actual quote posted on the OP is actually a positive... the guy is on our side......

So, if Bush was soooo "great" why pair him with DD?
Meaning if you take a runningback with the #1 pick, why are you automatically making him a complimentary runningback?? You don't pick complimentary runnigbacks in the first round... you wait to get those guys on the second day.

Also, while it's true that you could pick up a "good" DE later in the draft or FA. That's fine-and-dandy if you think that Mario is just a "good DE" and nothing more.
Here he is saying players like Mario(or who we want Mario to be) aren't available later in the draft, or in FA....... JohnAbraham may be the closest comparison to a FA DE, in that he is dominant.... but he is much smaller than Mario, & IMHO more of a specialist type player, where Mario is going to dominate in many aspects of the game.

thunderkyss, those quotes weren't me asking questions. I was trying to quote what was said by Eric on the youtube video and them make a critical rebut about them.

So, if you take a listen again. You'll hear that it was Eric that was saying, CONTRADICTORILY, that the Texans SHOULD have picked Bush so that he could be a complementary back (by parring him up with DD) and then goes on to say that you don't pass up player of Reggie's caliber (exclaiming that he is NOT just a complementary player). That's the contradiction. See?

N.O. will have to come back to earth sooner or later (some ESPN analyst are already doing it)...and as time goes on we'll get closer to reality -> Reggie will HAVE to be paried with another RB. Which means that Eric's first point will come true (RB duo) but his other assumption (that Reggie is the "end all be all.) will fade away. Which will make it easier for people to believe that Mario will be better than predicted (by the naysayers).

Yes, but that's the thing. Eric doesn't believe that Mario will be that good. So, that's why he claims you can pick up "good" DE later in the draft. That's why he wont go out on a limb because he's already been distracted by shiny objects (Reggie).

Note: Eric Strauss is the guy in the middle.
