3-3 & The Schedule Ahead

So far our games.

Chargers 3-3
Lions 3-2
Chiefs 1-4
Raiders 2-4
Vikings 4-1
Titans 2-4

The teams we lost to are 10-6
The teams we beat are a combined 5-12

Yeah that is a fact but i fel in the last few weeks we have really picked up our game and are playing a lot better ! I think if we were to play detroit NOW with the way we are playing the outcome would be totally different, same with chargers. But i'm not to dissapointed with the loss against the vikes we played almost a perfect second half ,,,,one score in the first half and the game would been ours !

I'm really happy with how the team's been playing. Had it not been for those turnovers in our first two games we'd be sitting at 5-1. Had we scored in the first half against the Vikings....we'd be 6-0. That said, the Texans have been in every game. No team has come out and stomped on us and I expect that all season long. If that's the case....we can win those nail biting wins this year....as long as we don't drop the rock of course! 8-8 is very possible.

And i really wouldnt be dissapointed with 8-8 this year,,,,i think some fans thinking play offs are just setting themselves up for dissapointment,,,,,BUT if we do make the play-offs it'll be meirly a miracle !!! And i do believe in miracles but i'll take whatever we finish at this year and be satisfied !

I would say that we can do better than 8-8, but I just looked at our schedule and now I just hope we do go 8-8. The rest of our schedule looks pretty tough to me. Of course, we've got the Jags and Colts twice. We've also got Denver (5-1) at Mile High and the Jets (5-0) at Giant Stadium. That's 6 pretty tough games right there.

Looking ahead at our remaining schedule. Our future opponents have a combined 56.67% winning percentage as of today. We are going to have our hands full with the strength of our schedule and getting into the playoffs. A little number crunching shows, if we plan on making the playoffs we are going to have to win our way in.

Those are very tough games but we have a solid chance in every game! 8-8 is possible but playoffs wouldn't be.

I know it's early but you can count the following teams making the playoffs and I doubt the Texans make it with how teams are playing in the AFC.

Patriots
Steelers
Colts
Broncos

Wild Card:
Jets if they continue how they've been doing
a toss up between Ravens, Jaguars, Texans

Other possible contenders:
Chargers and Chiefs, these two teams can if they make it happen the rest of the season.

That said, I think it's tough for us to make it but it's very possible. The Jets are in regardless IMO and the Ravens will be in a bit of trouble while Jammal Lewis is gone. So that leaves the Texans and Jaguars fighting for a Wild Card spot....I take that comment back, it's very much indeed possible!!! :headbang:

Hey...as long as we play one game at a time we'll get there. I really believe we could win every single game from here on out. Look at how our offense has done.

I think our D is better than Indy's D and Carr & Co. will put up big numbers against them. We'll split that game series with a win here at home.
The Titans are very beatable here in Houston. Somebody have the broom ready.
We can beat Chicago...it'll be a tough game but our guys are physical.
Jacksonville will suffer a loss to us here @ Houston, battle red day! Home crowd needs to bring their AAA game in Reliant!
We can beat the Browns no doubt!

The Texans did fairly well this pre season @ mile high. The Texans only played their 1st stringers very limited and the Broncos played theirs for over 3 quarters. I smell an upset in that game although they have a good running game and a pretty good defense.

Counting those and considering I'm right in my predictions....we end up 10-6 with very good possibilities we end up going Wild Card taking on the Steelers hopefully!

I look at it this way. That schedule just proves how big yesterdays win was and how huge the game against Jville is. By beating the Titans we go into the break at .500 a game behind Jville. If we beat Jville, we pull ourselves right back into the division race. That would be necessary because then we could possibly go 1-1 on the road in November against Denver and Indy.

To me the schedule just shows that we will know what kind of team we have November. Those are two very big home games and two very big road games.

Now I feel so confidence about that we can win every game. Im not saying that its gonna be piece of cake but NOW we have real chances...

I feel that David Carr and Andre Johnson made the step from average players to NFL Superstars, and what they gonna do since right now is grow...every sunday they gonna be better...

This is true but every team thats come in to our house has had a hard time with the noise and I think this will help us at home, but on the road we are going to need to play hard and suck it up. we looked good yesterday and we need to improve each week but we can do it. Carr looks great so does Johnson, they are both leading the NFL so look out play-off bound. I bleive. :headbang:

Indeed those numbers don't lie. One thing to keep in mind though is that we helped those 5-12 teams get where they are. Every team has flat spots in the season and every team has periods where they get on a roll. Sure some of them don't get on a roll for very long (Bengals) and some never seem to fall into a flat spot (Patriots) but for most everyone there's going to be some good and some bad.

Last season when the Patriots were opening their year with a solid thumping at the hands of Drew Bledsoe could we have predicted that those same Patriots would be playing in the Super Bowl or that the Texans would be beating those same Bills in Buffalo?

The remaining schedule looks like a killer but before the season started so did the last four games. Over that span we went 3-1 and came within one solid drive of going 4-0. We thought that going into those 4 "tough" games we would be sitting pretty at 2-0 but instead we were down 0-2.

Before we get too worried about playing the undefeated Jets in December or how tough Indy is going to be lets slow down and focus on beating the Jaguars here at Reliant. Once that's done it's on to the next challenge. The Texans are going to improve as the season goes along and the Jets won't be undefeated by the time that game gets here. Those teams are all, to the very last one "beatable". As long as the Texans don't slack off and keep in mind that "so are we" things will work out fine.

If we beat Jacksonville we'd pull up on top of Jacksonville in second place in our division...this is tentative on the results this weekend in the Indy/Jax game and the Tenn/Minn game.

Indy, 5-1 2-0 in division
Hou, 4-3 2-0 in division
Jax, 4-4 1-2 in division
Tenn, 2-5 0-3 in division

Now if Jacksonville beats Indy and Tennessee beats Vikings this weekend and we still beat the jags on battle red day then it'll look like this. This is of course if Indy wins against the Chiefs and the Titans beat the Bengals in week 8:

Indy, 5-2 2-1 in division
Jax, 5-3 2-1 in division
Hou, 4-3 2-0 in division
Tenn, 4-4 0-3 in division

Indy is the only team on that list who is significantly better than the texans. Denver and Jets are leading their respective divisions but I am not sold on either one. the Texans can exploit Green Bay's defense and are better than Cleve and Chicago. Jacksonville and the texans are real close.

Well lets toss out some assumptions.

Assuming we continue to beat teams with losing records, and lose to teams with winning records.. it would go like this...

L JAC
L @DEN
L @IND
W GNB
W TEN
L @NYJ
L IND
W @CHI
L @JAC
W CLE

that would put us at 7-9

now lets assume we split wins with Jacksonville.. which we have done every year so far right?

that would put us at 8-8

now lets assume that we beat one of the other conference teams that has a winning record.. since we have a habit of getting a big upset win at least once a year.. either denver or the jets

that puts us at 9-7

now.. lets assume that we improve at the end of the year as we always do.. and win that last game against Indi..

that would put us at 10-6..... not too shabby.

Unfortunatly the jags have a pretty easy schedule this year.. so 10-6 MAY not be enough to make second in the division.

so.. my assumptions for the rest of the season

W JAC
W @DEN
L @IND
W GNB
W TEN
L @NYJ
W IND
W @CHI
L @JAC
W CLE

wouldnt that be sweet :) and we would get our first 3 game winning streak... course if we were to instead lose to denver, and beat the jets.. that would be a 5 game winning streak.. that would get us some press coverage.

GO TEXANS!

With how we hung in there with MIN,I think we can win any game we play this year. Our team is good now, but also they're actually getting better with each passing game. Last week the O stepped up, this week the D stepped up. When we put those two performances together on a consistant basis, we will be a very solid football team.

as odd as it seems, the final wild card will really come down to baltimore houston and jacksonville...week 8 will decide a lot...we lose, we wont make the playoffs, mainly b/c we'll be 2 behind the jags

Well all we can do is worry about the Jags next week. The games we won or lossed are in the past. We are only as good as our last win. That is the mentality I will take and certainly hope our team does. This way our focus remains on winning.

I'd be much happier if we didn't have to go on the road for both the Jets and Broncos. It's a rare occassion that Denver loses at home and NY is really good.

Yes they are tough places to win at,,,but the way our defense and offense has played in the second half of games ,,i figure if we can keep it close the first half we can win. I usually would of been discouraged but after watching this team this year i feel we can truly win every game ! "i think we are that good" :thumbup

I am not convinced with Denver. I know they are good but I am not convinced Denver is better than us. I do believe the Jets are very good. The only thing I am hoping for is that we start to really take form by that date. I have circled that game at the beginning of the season as a game where we start screwing up the playoff picture for other teams, maybe it will work in our benefit now though.

NYJ has played Miami (0-6), Buffalo (1-4), San Francisco (1-5) San Diego (3-3) and Cincinnati (1-4)

We too would be 5-0 if we had this schedule

Well we did have San Diego, and we didn't do to well. The Jets will have a test this week against the Pats.
