Night and Day (the difference between...)

This new coaching staff and the prior regime. Jerek said something to this affect in another thread, but with the old staff I had come to the realization that not once were the Texans going to out-plan or out-scheme another team, and that if we wanted a win our guys would have to be miracle workers or the other team would just have to lay an egg.

What an amazing feeling it is to go into a game now and feel confident that the coaches have put together a top notch game plan and scheme to put our players in the best position possible to win the game. Gone are the days of vanilla offense and trying to fit square pegs into round holes on defense.

Every Texans fan should feel this way. Even if W-L doesn't show it first year, marked improvement will be noticed in this aspect, I can guarantee that. Games will finally be exciting to watch again.

I could never see Capers saying this about Carr in the public...

I'm a huge Carr supporter, and I love to see quotes like that.

It's all more obvious now to me that the last coaching regime was just here collecting paychecks.

It is amazing to see the difference from last year in the way the players carry themselves and the attitude they display. You could feel it in the air just watching them in Reliant last week, and then see it carry over to this week.

They get over mistakes and move on. Kubiak is not scared to change his gameplan in midstream, and it's going to be something to watch as our head coach with the mind and ability to outfox our opponents. This is something we haven't seen with this team before.

I got roasted last year for mentioning that the team came out flat and seemed to have 'quit' on the coaches. We now know that they weren't buying to the system and the coaches lacked leadership of the team. But last year they just didn't have the 'feel' of a pro team, whatever intanglible qualities those might be. But you can just sense the difference now. Confidence and an attitude to win are back in Houston football!

I totally agree with you.
Like I said before, it's one thing to lose a game, but to be totally embarrassed, looking like a high school football team, was what happened to us time and time again last season.

I know it's just preseason, but dammit I like what I see!

Ditto. I'm a Carr fan and I support the guy off the field and on. Either way, if he's not the best quarterback for our team (which I still think he is, but if not ...), then bring on Sage or the guy who is. I'm a big fan of accountability and right now Kubiak is tops on my Christmas list. He seems to be scoring high marks in everything from playcalling to general player relations and building of team and winning atmosphere.

As an aside, I don't absolve Carr of blame on some of those early drives -- downs in which there was an available play to be made -- but I wasn't too fond of some of those early play calls; they didn't seem tailored to take advantage of (or even consider) the blitzes we saw early on.
