Antwan Peek

He looked very, very good. I think he's got the upper hand. What I'm curious about is whether it's now between Weaver and Peek or is it still Babin vs Peek? They moved Weaver to the outside to start this game, but if Peek keeps playing like this will they move Weaver back inside? It'll be interesting to follow.
 
I highly agree, ANTWAN has the heart for the job, I am not just saying that because he is my daughter's favorite player, he deserves to start..:superman:
 
yea peek has the job locked i think travis did a good job 2 with the first team shuttin out s. jackson.

True. But don't you think that that Mario and Peek actually complement each other which creates a force that is better than the sum of it's parts?

Yes I do...in pass rushing situations. Having Weaver on the end and Johnson in the middle helps our run stopping so much that I would be willing to sacrifice making under 260 pound Peek a full time de

most deffinately. i didnt really like weaver on the end (or as a starter yet ... a little favoritism towards the origionals probably). i'm biased, but i think babin's the most well rounded end on our roster. weaver is much more of a run stopper and peek's a pass rushing menace. both of which are great because they're just good enough to be moved around and give us lots of flexability, but i think our strongest front is going to consist of robaire, payne, mario, & babin. use peek in the same way that indianapolis used mathis - play to each players' strengths. payne would make much more sense on first downs & short yardage, where as weaver would be stronger as a pass rushing DT on long yardage downs, and as an end on short yardage. with the uncanny amount of depth that we have on the line, this is very easy ... especially with travis appearing to try to step it up.

that being said, peek's just nasty (as most of us assumed he would be). as i said in another thread, he's impossibly fast off the line and acts like a qb missle. another career saved by gary kubiak.

Babin was all over the place including special teams and-one play in particular-where he and Weaver or maybe it was Mario 'sandwiched' the QB from opposite sides.

the sandwich was peek & babin (the pair NEED to be in there at the same time on ALL obvious passing situations) ... peek caught him high and babin caught him low. we really will have a monster of a pass rush once mario takes the next step. giddy isnt a word i like describing myself with, but it fits ... the thought of mario, peek, & babin on the line on third down gives me tingles. they are each completely different in the way they do things, however their results are the same.

I agree. The great thing about Peek is how explosive he is. He can't keep that up for an entire game. He will be better in the exact role they had him in. By having him come off the bench, that allows Mario to play the weakside on most plays. A D-line of Babin, Peek, Mario, and Weaver/Johnson should strike fear into the hearts of QBs. Especially if they see Orr at LB and Robinson at CB too. All of those guys are stone cold QB killers.

I totally agree. He is a pass rushing specialist in waiting. He cannot consistently hold up against the run, and starting him will just wear him down. I say keep him fresh and bring him in on passing downs. That's where he can make a difference for this team.
 
We are stacked with talent on the D-line and hope the coaches utilize all to the utmost. Peek will be a monster off the edge and he should probably be kept fresh, but he may have super stamina for all I know.

Since I didn't see the game, how did Big Mario do?
 
Peek had a bada** game last night! Now that's the Peek I remember from when he first came onto the Texans and was brought in initially on 3rd downs. I don't think he was made for the 3-4 as a tweener but now that he's playing his natural position as a DE, he gets to rush the QB all the time and that's what he's best at.
 
The good thing about Peek having a real good game, is that the Offensive Coordinator will now be aware of at least two problems coming acrosse the line of scrimmage.
