Wong could be ready for Texans opener

It is gonna be a tough go for him. He will have to prove that he is ready and better than Rainer who has played very well and Demeco who may well take the MLB job by the opener.

I hope he gets 100% before being thrown back into the lineup.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Wong, Ryans, and Orr as our starting linebackers, (Wong with the experiance, and Ryans and Orr learning and becoming the future of our LBs)

This is great news for a couple reasons ! Most of all, just having Kailee back
because he's clearly an important team leader who has a lot of NFL experience. Many of us were concerned about the resumption of his career,
not just him making it back during the first part of this season.
But getting an expereiced LB who has played a couple years at the strong side and in the middle each in a 4-3 is just where we need help the most, since rookie Ryans and Greenwood are both thought to best suited for weakside.
I dunno, but to me this is almost like a significant FA acquisition coming out of the blue that we didn't expect. Great News !
 
We have a bunch of solid LBs in Greenwood, Wong, Rainier, Cowart, Ryans and Orr and I think we'll see a lot of subbing in and out and all will get some amount of playing time this year. Good to here that Wong is getting healthy :thumbup
 
I dont understand why everyone mentions Cowart. To me he is past his prime and strictly a run stopper. He does not have the speed to play on passing situations and not much lateral quickness. Maybe I am wrong, because he was hurt during offseason drills so I did not get to see him. I am mainly going off what I saw of him with the Jets.

He can still be rotated in during running situations and be effective. I think we will see a lot of rotating with our LBs to make sure we've got the best attack against the opposing offense. Rainier and Cowart will both get some amount of playing time.
 
I still think Ryans will end up playing mainly the weakside role, with Wong on the stongside, and perhaps Cowart starting in the middle, altough I could see Wong, Ranier, and/or Ryans playing there in passing downs.

I like the idea of that. Hopefully with decent subs, Wong wont be hurt again this year and all of our newer guys can get good experience.:redtowel:

whats he been up to? how does he figure into the rotation. is he healthy? how effective can he be? is he starters material at one of the outside LB spots? give me some wisdom...

Soon the pick will not seem so good to you, but at least you believe. Oh yeah, and 9 wins is a bit high, don't you think. Just look at them realistically.

I thought Rainer broke something and is out for the year?

How is Orr's injury? Any word?
 
i know theres a thread out there, but its really old and its far back on the pages. plus theres alot of useless reggie bush talk in there, so i want to start a new thread.

honestly, will Kailee Wong get an opportunity to start in houston again at one of the outside LB spots?? if so, how far away from returning is he?
 
Wong will be good depth, but I'm happy with Ryans, Orr, Greenwood.
They are a little small, but with Weaver, Mario, Robaire, and TJ up front, I think they'll be above average.
Next year, pick up a blitzing outside backer.
 
Orr is not a lock. According to this morning's Chronicle, Anderson has had a good camp and it's still a toss-up who will win out for the starting position. This will be a key position to watch on Sunday.
