Weaver to move to DT?

jmerog

Waterboy
I heard on the morning show on 610 that weaver was going to move to tackle. Does anyone else know anything more about this? I wonder which side he will play on.

A line consisting of MArio, Weaver, payne/smith, Peek/Babin could be devastating.

i like having so many talented guys on the field at the same time. Something big is bound to happen.

Weaver's primarily been a DT at every camp I've watched, only rarely movign outside to DE. Did something change or this old news?

Maybe you haven't been in the loop, or are not in Houston or whatever, but this is hardly breaking news. He played DT in the spring prcatices, and they made it clear after drating Mario that Weaver would be moving inside to his more natural position of tackle. It's been mentioned numerous times by the coaches, and the media over the last several months.

If I'm remembering correctly, Weaver was a DE at Baltimore in the 3-4. A 3-4 DE is basically a tackle that is supposed to stop the run 1st. The outside LB's in a 3-4 are basically the pass rushing ends. He should be in a more natural position as a tackle in the 4-3.

I get what you're trying to say, but the Texan's DTs that can actually PLAY goes something like this:

Anthony Weaver
Robaire Smith
Seth Payne
(maybe Travis Johnson):spy:

our d-line is mean. in all honesty, our pass rush will be tremendous with weavers motor running on the inside. i just hope that babin hasnt lost a step due to his increased poundage.

Keeping high quality DTs fresh is the name of the game. With 3 Guys that could start anywhere and TJ; the rotation is looking really good; especially when you have Mario and Babin/Peek coming off the edges. Is it game time yet?

Since when is TJ looking good. I've been on a business trip so maybe I've missed something. Has he turned his TC around? What is he looking good at?:spy:

Good question. In base 4-3 sets, I've seen Weaver line up at LDT. In the nickel defense, Weaver has moved over to RDT and Mario has played LDT. However, I expect Weaver (and Williams) to move around along the line in order to find mismatches.

Edited for clarification. I intended to say the roation was looking good, 3 starters and TJ. So 3 1/2 good DTs. Sounded right in my head, didnt translate it onto the keyboard. Stupid hands, lol.

So as far I know, he is still the same as before.

Good call, and I've heard that shuffle rumor as well. Weaver is primarily the LDT (which is a hellacious rush coming from the rightside: MW and AW) but I've heard they plan on rotating Mario, Weaver, and others in search of exploiting a mismatch.

I'm looking forward to this. Like in the movie Waterboy when they line up for the onsides kick and the kicker pans down the line of the return team to find his B--ch to kick it to. Stick Mario over the weakest B--ch on the line.:redtowel:
