"Ornstein and Segal were the villains. But when the dust cleared, Reggie Bush's contract is almost the biggest in this draft," Wichard says. "Most teams would give up their firstborn rather than let the second guy get so close to the No. 1. And he blows away anybody who ever came out of college football in the marketing world.
"The sky's the limit. And these guys hit the sky."

Major Adams put together a great deal for VY with the Titans, which created a "floor" or basis for the deal Bush got worked out with the Saints. If it wasn't for the ground work that was done by Adams & Vince, these guys would probably still be hassling with NO, IMO.

definitely. the only reason why the deal got done so soon is that there was virtually no wiggle room between the contracts. If Vince signed a deal for 40M instead, Reggie would still be in San Diego sitting on the beach.

Right. I'm thinking (not sure), that D'Brick at #4 got soemthing like 18 M guaranteed by the Jets. Of course VY is a QB, so he's gonna get a premium,
but going all the way from 18 to 25 something (from #4 to #3) in guaranteed money is a humongous jump. "The Major", who many including me thought was a bad choice for VY's agent, instead did a super job for Vince. He did all the heavy lifting for Bush's people, now those clowns are spinning it like they are a bunch of genius. What a joke !
