Im gonna go with 4 with mario having at least 1 of those. As far as picks not sure 1 maybe 2. The main thing is we finally get pressure on the QB :texflag:

This actually will be interesting. The Chief's line is in disarray. Kyle Turley will be starting at LT--that tells you something right there. He hasn't played football in two years, isn't up to his former play weight, was just thinking about trying to play as a TE and the last time he played LT he gave up 13.5 sacks. At RT they are starting Kevin Sampson a 7th round 2004 draft pick who has started 1 game.

That has a familiar ring to it........... :spy:

I am going to propose an outlandish number: 6. And 2 INTs.

As a team I'll give us four....One each for peek and babin....and TWO for SUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPEEEEER Mario.....:mario: :mario: :mario: :mario:

Good point. Conceivably, we could ring up even more.

I'm excited about Carr and the offense, but I'm most excited to see how our defense looks; playcalls, etc. I want to see if our D-line and blitzers can be as dominating as I dream might be.

I am not going to give a number.. I just would be stoked if they had a constant pass rush. I would love to see 10 sacks.. but lets see what we have.

Yeah the poll is much better. Merge them mods, and let the voting begin. Mario is going to kill the chiefs RT. He is some seventh rounder and I dont even remember his name. Mr. CantBlockMario will make Herm Edwards only play his starters for one series.

I'm going with four.
There are a few things to consider that may make it more than four...
There is a good chance that our starting DLine will go deeper into this game than a starting unit might in a normal preseason game one.

The second thing is that with KC's afore mention OLine turmoil, they almost certainly don't have the same level of quality in the line that we have in our second and even third string DL.
I think the first team we put out there will have success, but in the second half I really think our DL will have a substantial talent advantage over the OL they send out there.

hmmm... I think I just talked myself into adding a sack or two... too bad I already voted!

I guess I am the one that will be the wet blanket. 2 sacks and 1 int. First game, 1st team only plays about one quarter. I think one of the sacks will come from the second team as our second team line will be basicaly our last years starter line. We will give up one sack to Sage and both our QBs will throw an INT. L.J. gets 45 yards for the Chiefs on 12 carries. We score 17 Chiefs get 10.

Im gonna go with 3 ..... Even the Texans abysmal line last year only gave up 4.25 per game .... and that was a near record pace for ineptitude .

The Texans D-line is probably the strength of the team but even against a team who's weakness is their O-line I dont see such a disparity in talent that would lead me to believe the sack total would go over five . These are all professionals .... However I do see the Texans D-line giving constant pressure forcing some poor passes and causing general havoc.

Three would make me happy .... and be an improvement over last seasons average of 2.3 per game .:twocents:

Don't know about being a wet blanket, just realistic. Like you said...being a preseason game, and most the starters out after the first quarter, I think three is probably about right. Of course three would be a dang site better than last year. I would bet on more picks than sacks.

NOW, lets say the first team comes out and manhandles the Chiefs...then I think full-throttle enthusiasm takes over and we'll have a free-for-all!:yahoo:

Realistically I would say 4 sacks and 2 INT's. We don't want the guys to have a field day against the Chiefs and then fall in a hole to where we were last year so let's take it gradually ... :francis:

and our second and third teams are still going to include guys like Babin/Peek, Kalu, TJ, Payne....... etc......

we look really good on the DLine.

I seriously doubt LJ will get 12 carries in the preseason opener........

With all of the injuries that the Chiefs have, the last thing they are going to do is over work their best player. I see him get a handful of carries and then Michael Bennett getting a bulk of the rest.

Because of there struggling line this year and the pass rush we are supposed to have this year im going to say 4. With two interceptions because of the fact there quarterbacks will get tired of being sacked therefore start throwing more desperate passes causing off accuracy and our secondary to pick off.

Considering our depth on the d-line and the KC team is pretty banged up right now, I went 4 - 6.

I will not be too surprised if we end up with +3 take aways or more.

I am picturing total havok. I voted 4-6, but I have the feeling that it might be double that. I see Peek with 2. I just picture him embarrassing Turley. With Mario on the other side, it could be scary. One thing that I see that might limit the number of sacks is KC running the ball more. If they run the ball more, we should get a pretty good picture of how good our run defense is going to be.

I agree 100%. After all, we had a horrible run D last year. Why wouldn't they test it? Then again our pass D was bad too.

Yeah, but they will find out how much our run d has improved. It is definately not a perceived weakness right now, but we hadn't proved it on the field yet, and they will test it early on. That's when we will begin to realize what we all already know. Our run D is GOOD.

Because of this I voted 4-6. We'll make them throw the ball. Mario will get doubled, and I think we will put some pressure on the QB, even when our backups come in.

That's what I'm hoping for this year. Force them to throw on 3rd and long. That's when it becomes open game on the QB for our DEs:drool:

Willie Roaf didn't play against you guys last year but you expect to all of a sudden get sacks by the dozen? If Larry Johnson were playing the whole game he would have another 200+ game.

The Chiefs are not all that banged up. The only starters that will not be playing are most likely Tamba Hali and Brian Waters.

Closet Chiefs fan?

Who's predicted sacks by the dozen?

Our predictions have a lot more to do with our new head coach, defensive coordinator, acquisition of Mario Williams and Anthony Weaver, and positioning of Peek and Babin on the D-line, than your raggedy O-line.

I never understand fans who troll other teams' message boards.

Raggedy O-line? Will Shields is one of the best guards in the game. Brian Waters is also one of the best guards in the game, although I guess he won't be playing. Casey Wiegmann is one of the best centers in the game. Kyle Turley at left tackle is still better than anybody the Texans have at left tackle. I really laugh at a Texans fan talking trash on another teams offensive line. Your line has been the worst in football for quite some time.

Who said we'd have that many sacks? From what I'm reading, I'm seeing an average between 4-6. Let's not over-exaggerate too much in order to prove your point.:challenge

There wasn't really any trash talking going on until you made your accusations.:tease:

And I laugh at halfwit insults posted by trolls from other teams on a Texans message board. Your O-line with or without Roaf is still an upper echelon line, but your "one of the best in the game" x3 is a bit of a stretch IMO. Kyle Turley is a washout whom I suspect will be dominated by our RDE. You won't recognize our defense and our O-line and offense in general should be improved, but I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

Wow--poor segue--referencing last year in one sentence and an upcoming game in the next. Aah well, what do you expect from someone who is not terrified by the idea of Kyle Turley at LT--insert internet shudder.

That was a tad bit unnecessary, dude. Jerek did nothing to merit that response, and you should have a little thing called tact when you troll other teams forums. From the way you speak you obviously just want to talk trash to someone. Go bother the Broncos MB, they will ban you for even saying you are a Chiefs fan.

I mean if he were playing the whole game on Saturday. Now that I come to think of it though I think your run defense will be much improved. We would still have success running on you but not the way we did last year.

Sorry. I'm not trying to talk smack. I just think it's funny that people think you guys are going to rack up the sacks on us. I do post on the Broncos messageboard and I have never been banned. They are jokes there though.

You will find that Texans fans are quite forgiving on this MB, so long as you ask for it. No hard feelings... just be careful how you word things.

I don't see us getting more than 3 sacks against ya'll... truth be told.

Thanks for the very polite response. Look we really do like visiting fans coming in to talk football. Let's all try to keep the rhetoric down to gentle jabs instead of outright assaults so this doesn't devolve into smack talk rather than football talk. There is a reason we don't have a smack talk forum around here. Welcome to the MB.

Thanks. Believe me, I'm not one for talking smack (unless I'm on a Raiders messageboard). I may say things that not everybody agrees with but I will not say something like "your team sucks". I would rather talk football than talk smack.
