In the mood II:Stirring the pot directly influencing the Texan record

Wolf

100% Texan
:stirpot:

would yall be happy if DD got 1400 yards and 9 tds(4.4 average) and Carr completed 60%of his passes passed 3000 yards and had 20 TD's and 19 INTS?

would that make you happy for the season and this would be a successful season?
http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zone/messageboards/showthread.php?t=26004

that is from my 1st thread..

stats I pulled up are from Dilfers/Banks stats along with Lewis's stats.
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/rav2000.htm

Lewis rushed for 1364 yards with 6 Td's 4.4 average (only thing I forgot to add on the thread is DD's estmated receiving stats)
lewis caught 27 balls for 296 yards..and 0 Td's

Banks/Dilfer combined..3080 yards 20 td and 19 ints.(Dilfer had 59% completion and 6.7 yards average on pass)

I wanted to get everyones feel about if they would be satisfied with stats of Carr (that I listed in the post)

Part 2 was a poll to see who directly influences the Texans W/L record and I left that poll where everyone could see)
http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zone/messageboards/showthread.php?t=26008

Part 3 was ..
a poll of what did people think that the Texans record would be.(and left that one open too)
http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zone/messageboards/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=352

Grasping all three threads and seeing the different reactions of people.. I wanted to see who was just a :stirpot: person and who was actually serious

personally I read things about Carr stinks and yet people predict the Texans to win 9+ games.. I mean if the QB stinks..how are the Texans going to win that many games? (that is where I used the Baltimore Ravens 2000 Offensive stats)..Our defense won't be that dominate (I hope)

Major Shoutout to SWT... I don't agree with his takes but he says Carr stinks, he says Carr is the influence of the Texans and he says the Texans won't win more than 4 games. he sticks to his guns :cowboy1:

Cool Info....didn't see any surprises....except TC. I guessed she would make a really rational prediction but she stuck with her "stand behind your team and expect the best" policy. Give her kudos for STHG also (STHG=sticking to her guns)

The Ravens had Ogden and one of the most crushing defenses that the league has ever seen.

2000 Ravens 165 Points allowed 4145 yards allowed, 8 games with one score
1985 Bears 198 Points allowed 4618 yards allowed, 5 games with one score

The Bears defense I think was more dominate, but that's a different story.

What I am getting at here is how does Banks and Dilfer going to compare to Carr and the defense we are fielding? I don't recall Modell breaking the piggy bank for Dilfer.. they had something like 15 people on their roster that was getting paid more then Dilfer was.

what I am getting at is ... I wanted to see what people thought of the Texans record could be in 2006.. with that was another build up question on who they thought was responsible for the texans success.. the only reason I used the Ravens stats is because the Ravens won the superbowl with plain stats on offense..and a great defense.. well our defense will not rival that defense and yet I wanted to see what people thought of banks/dilfers stats and see if they would be satisfied...

just a 3 part question to see who is yanking chains just to yank them and who really believes Carr stinks..

as I stated in my post, I couldn't believe one thread would bash carr yet expect the Texans to win 9+ games.. Our defense isn't the 2000 Ravens.. and our offense should be better than the 2000 ravens..now am I saying we are going to the playoffs? no, I would hope.but it was a long drawn out research thread

as far as salary cap is salary cap.. teams disperse it anywhich way.. I am sure someone on the Ravens was getting paid a lot of money and didn't produce in his value

"I bet you think this song is about you...................... you're so Vain"

That's how I'm feeling right now.

I'll admit, I've said things, blown things out of proportion or what not, to get someones goat........ but I wouldn't say that I've pulled anyone's chain. Ive said what I said, and I believe what I said..... but I still believe we'll win 13 games in '06.

Just like Kubiak gets on Carr..... calls him out..... and probalby says some really mean things to him (like, "you've been in the league 4 years, and you try to make that pass........ you've got to be kidding me..", or "David has to play better") doesn't mean that he is a Carr hater, but believes a little criticism and honesty is what the kid needs......... I'm pretty much the same way......... only I'm not getting paid for it..........and I'm not talking to David... per se......

And I don't wear sweatshirts & shorts....

and no one(other than you guys) care about what I think.........

and I'm a bit taller(I think)....

and I don't live in Houston...

and I don't like his hat......

and I don't make six figures.....

ugh... 6 figures is what the kick holder makes.

000.000

00.000.000

8 figures pushing nine by the time the clock expires

I admit you had a post that got the wheels turning, yet I was wondering who is just pulling the chain and who was really serious (hard to tell a messageboard and some say the sky is green just to get a conversation started)

That may be so (and I hope it is not), but from the way you have composed yourself in the past weeks on this MB, I offer high praise to you sir. Congrats on being one of the posters on this board of which when I see that you have posted something, I take my time to read it.

Dude, you've known that since we first started firing nuclear missiles at one another in the No Spin Zone. I'm still recovering from the fallout! :crutch:

Yes, I read all of your posts. It gives me something to do at 1 o'clock in the morning.

Obviously, you made a conscious decision not to say 'Carr Wrecks"...

Hilarious. I have actually never seen him use that one. Slow to the draw eh, SWTBound? Hehe.

P.S. - michaelm, couldn't help but notice your avatar. Firefox eating IE? Simply amazing. I have been using mozilla for years now and I hate the thought of even having IE on this computer. Props!

I like kudos, but I am not sure that "stand behind your team and expect the best" is my point of view at all.

I never really expect the best, though I do hope like the dickens for it, and there are any number of things I am concerned about on this team. (I can't say, at this point, QB is anywhere near the top of the list).

My point of view is:

1. It is hard to build a winning tradition. It is certainly much harder to create something than it is to reflexively criticize it. I am more interested in understanding what people are trying to accomplish, and how they are attempting to do it. All sorts of good plans in the world, but it is really hard to implement even the best of plans.

(Thought out, supported criticism I am interested in hearing, but in the marketplace of idears, most criticism is not supported by data or logic because we are so used to people shooting from the lip. :shoot: Not just with sports criticism, but in general).

2. Our team is not without hope. This is the most hopeful I've been since the beginning of the franchise. Hopeful doesn't mean necessarily instant success, but I like our direction. (I always saw Capers as a caretaker--probably due to the influence from my Panthers friends).

3. I think it takes time to get everyone on the same page.

4. If the team looks good quickly and starts winning, it will be one heck of a coaching job.

5. People love to see instant results and assess instant blame, but it takes time to create team. That's not what people want to hear in a soundbite kind of world.

6. Our team is sooooo karmicly due some good luck. Working smart and hard can take you most of the way but teams also need luck too.

7. This list should probably be more than 7, but I think those are the high points.

Any time I find a quality alternative to a microsoft product, I will use it out of priciple.
Not because I'm real anti-microsoft or anything like that. I just look at it as promoting competition, and also kinda supporting the little guy.
In the case of Firefox, IMO it's simply a better browser, plus for the time being it's the more secure of the two (the other being IE).
I also use Thunderbird for my personal email.
Outllook is my only alternative at work because that's what my company uses...

Who cares what stats say, we had good stats in 2004 and we see what was in 2005. I would prefer 2 things 1) Houston higher score at end of a LOT of games. 2) A single digit score by MOST of our opponents:homer:

what do you do when your firefox slows down??

I've cleared caches, and all kinds of stuff, and it doesn't help. When I originaly installed, it was much faster than IE, but now, it's slower.
