I went to the game yesterday and I had a real weird feeling. I was mad that we lost but I am still very proud of my team. I think it was the never say die attitude I saw from them, but I can't really describe why I feel this way after such a hard loss. Can you help me with that?

Anyhow, I wanted to mention that the Texans showed some real maturity in most areas. I would like to see less penalties on Special Teams. I think this was Andre Johnson's day of recognition and it is pretty evident he developing inot the type of player that can take over a game as well as Carr.

Derek Armstrong deserves a shot at a starting J or we need to use our 4 wide set more often. I think it is pretty safe to say we are a passing team. He needs a little more time.

Defensively, I got to say Sharper has brought his intensity and game up quite a bit over the last two weeks.

I expected a 7-9 to 8-8 season so I am expecting a bit of inconsistency throughout the season. Losing like this just kind of exploits the inconsistency.

Next week against the Tontos is my Bday (10-17-04.. Joe Texan if you're reading this, my bobble head would be nice to have for my Bday) so I am expecting a win against them. Hopefully our team doesn't play discouraged.

Help is here on the boards where you can express your opinion and confeer with Texans who share your passion :grouphug: The Texans need to address their slow start that would certainly help. I see too much arm tackling on rushing defense, not enough pad on pad that would help. Just the basics keep it simple, continue to play hard & good things will happen :jam:

Well, I was bummed out after the game, for sure. It had as much to do with losing in OT as it did both our teams losing, period. But after munching down a juicy t-bone and throwin' the pigskin around the grassy lot, I felt much, much better. :D

At halftime, I fully expected a blowout score - much like the first season's Cincinnati Bengal's game and last Kansas City Chief's game.

So the fact that they showed heart and drive enough to not only stop the Vikings a bunch of times, but to score 21 points in the 4th qtr, is really awesome.

This team is going places...I can feel it in my bones. We just have to believe and never give up hope! This ain't the Oilers, this is the TEXANS!!!

Funny you should say that. I had that same thought after the game. Yes we didn't win but we didn't choke either. Still a weird feeling. Maybe this win will help us be ready for Tennessee.

I really wasn't sad or angry at the Texans because I was crushed after watching that Astros game. I wish we could've won but I was so proud of our team and the way we fought back that I really wasn't too worried about the Texans.

Exactly! :thumbup

How many times did the Oilers look like the best team on paper, but come up short and fail to play up to thier potential? All the time and too many to remember.

Well, we have the opposite attitude with our Texans. They are determined to win and they never give up, and this attitude started with the franchise' first win against those Cowboys!

Keep the faith, man! :)

One thing that got me hooked and felt the Texan pride in our family. I really felt it back in 2002 for the opening game Texans VS Cowboys. I wasnt at the game but I was at Woodrows on Richmond. After the game everyone that was there ended up excanging phone numbers. We still keep in contact and watch the Texans every sunday.

I think if anything, this past game allowed me to realize we are now ready to play a high level of football and expect wins. I expect a win this Sunday, especially since it is my Bday.

And don't forget the real bad reverse the Oilers got at Buffalo in that play-off game that has been the best comeback (for the Bills, of course) in the NFL history.

Houstonian teams, have had the talent to become noisy...but the light of the fireworks has never been shown...if you know what I mean.

I was a former Oilers fan..and I know what I am talking about.

HOWEVER... it's you, not us, sitting with the latest generation of that team.

I shall never forget 35-3. :( That event is etched into my memory forever. (even a lobotomy could not erase that one!)

It's one of those "do you know where you were when" questions for Houston sports fans.

I truly believe the karma of columbia blue prevented the Titans from reaching that final yard in the Superbowl. Bud tempted the football gods by trying to sneak something Oiler related into his new franchise, and it came back and bit him on the behind.

And for this cosmic reason, I resisted my temptation to use the number "34" on my custom Texans jersey. Earl is still one of my all-time great heros, but with all due respect, he was still an Oiler. The Texans do not need any connections to the franchise that used to live here, so no use tempting fate!

When it was 35-17 and they were driving again, I knew we were going to lose. That 3rd quarter should be viewing material for every high school and college player.

I had two "friends" that were not Oilers fans call me right after that game to razz me. I was so devastated that I nearly lost those friendships over it.
