As I scan feverishly for news on the Texans and thier first day of training camp I go to the Houston Chronicles website special section on the Texans, http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/. I browse through a couple of fluff pieces and notice right on the front page that "T.O.'s take on Philly? McNabb was jealous". Huh? what? The media fuels this stuff like some sort of bad soap opera. That episode was over and done with months ago and yet here we are with the mindset that we are going to be reading fresh new articles on the "new" Texans team then BOOM!, we get daytime drama best utilized for noontime housewifes that have nothing better to do with their lives. Horrible, simply horrible. What a cheap way to drag in readers.

I know that you cannot be suprised by this. The demise of the Houston Post was also the demise of any decent sports reporting in Houston. When Tennessee McLain is the best you have...well...nuff said.

Our own Texans Chick ..( I guess it's ok to claim her as our own) will provide us with much better Texan coverage than any of the chronics "reporters?".

Now that training camp has started we will also get better coverage from here HoustonProfootball.com..than we will get from the chronic.

Between this site, TC and HPF we should be well informed about our Texans.

Expect less from the chronic and you won't be disappointed...:stooges:
Like anyone here, other than Harry, gives a %#@& about Philly.

"daytime drama best utilized for noontime housewifes that have nothing better to do with their lives." You are a brave man SES.

I will not read or watch anything in regards to TO, it really is silly. It is not news anymore except for those reporters who need to justify their check.

Just looking at this board over the last couple of years and if I were a NFL beat reporter for a market I would educate the fans to be better fans. Subjects like - Salary Cap, Free Agency, changes in O or D philosophy, innovators of the game, the business of the game, up and comers in coaching and front office, etc.

The NFL fan in my opinion wants to be educated not be privy to a soap opera, we can get gossip on sports through a multitude of channels. If you have experience and the contacts why not leverage them and be a reporter rather than a gossiper.

This was the unpopular opinion of Howard Cossell.

Don't expect anything better from the Chronicle! I totally agree with you, coverage of our home team is HORRIBLE!!! I was ticked off when I picked up the paper and saw ON THE FRONT PAGE, a pic of Vince Young! Turned to the sports sections and BAM, a pic and article about TO!! AND, to top it all off, an article about the POOR Browns!! WHO CARES about the Browns bad luck??! I don't! I'll worry about the Browns come Dec 31st!!

Most posters are acquainted with the cut and paste feature on their computers.

Well,..our local sports writers (?) use a similiar feature in their jobs.

It's called newswire stories. It sure is easier than getting off their duffs and come up with some original reporting. They are just lazy and non-motivated.

Who cares if its about Tenn or Cleveland? Don't like it? Subscribe to the other local paper. :sarcasm:

Thank God for message boards.

Come to think of it, we get better news faster here than the chronic could possibly furnish.
